An enjoyable if rainy day in Exeter where I was honoured to officiate at this prestigous show where I had judged golden retrievers many years ago. Thanks must go to the excellent Committee, my exemplary stewards Clare Hill and Debbie Stansbury and of course most thanks must go to the exhibitors who afforded me the privilege of assessing their quality dogs.

1st Nicholl’s BENOVEOR SAIL ON TO ANTRETH JW D

Quality boy with a beautiful eye. Excellent feathering, stood squarely with balanced proportions from a strong forechest and moved freely and happily with drive.

2nd NICHOLL’S BENOVEOR ENDLESS LOVE B 

Very similar, discovered they were brother and sister, she excelled in muscling, so pretty, just preferred gait of first.

Absolutely lovely boy with a super masculine expression, and gentle, with great disposition, correct balance and positive mover. Happy, confident disposition.

Also a fluid mover with a handsome head, good boned, straight legs, not quite as happy in the ring today as first.

Lovely , quality, lady, moved happily with ease and drive. Gorgeous expression and beautiful silky coat, carrying a tad extra weight, but well-muscled, balanced, compact conformation.

The most wonderful smooth movement on this girl, oozing with character. In fabulous condition and gleaming coat, everything flowed into everything else to create her great balance. Quality head and kind expression.

Gorgeous golden, with a chiselled head and happy expression. Excellent balance in body with short couplings and upper and lower thighs of equal length. The better strength in hindquarters and drive from well-let down hocks. 

2nd Parkhouse FEDERICO HOABROE HEART FOR SHIVANI IMP RUS

Quality boy showing great exuberance. Correct depth of rib and forechest. Covered the ground well.

Sweet and feminine girl with a beautiful head and correct ear set. Compact and balanced she had sturdy and straight hind pasterns which she used to drive across the ground. Strong hindquarters with width and good muscling. Full of character.

Lovely head and eye on this attractive girl, full of life and in good condition, second thigh rather longer than first, however moved out well.

Lovely head on this young boy with balanced planes of depth and breadth. Correct maturity for age, with correct coat, moved out from strong bone and balanced angles.

Just preferred the head of first with his sophisticated look and confident quality. Lovely length of neck and flow into shoulders, giving him an easy symmetry which drove him effortlessly around the ring.

2nd Price and Herring-Reed’s JACLEE DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE AT SANELLE D RBOB

Another handsome lad carrying correct depth and width of ribcage with good forechest and short couplings, displaying a happy temperament in his easy gait.

Bishop’s DYRAM DESERT STORM D BEST OF BREED & G!

The construction of this quality boy took my breath away, such a cut-glass outline, everything flowing into everything else with correct height of leg to length of body, with a deep chest and short couplings, standing on correct bone and feet. His belton colouring and coat was beautiful and in gleaming condition, with handsome head and happy expression, he covered the ground freely with drive, holding his topline level and handsome head high, and was a joy to watch.

Straight front and topline held on the move, this young girl of the same age was very similar to first and perhaps not quite as together, however also a beautiful head.

Beautiful, aristocratic lady, oozing breed type. A darker colour, standing over dead straight bone and strong quarters. Good muscling and movement a joy to watch.

Another attractive girl, not as strong in loin as first but full of quality, balance and condition, moving confidently.

Another with correct balance and good forechest with correct upper-arm, balance and condition. Moved more reluctantly than first.
