Birmingham & District Gundog & Terrier Club - 7/10/2023

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge and for their hospitality at this well-run show. I’d also like to thank my efficient steward, and special thanks to the exhibitors who entered under me with their lovely dogs.

DANDIE DINMONT TERRIER

J (1) Cundall’s Puddockswell What The Dickens of Bleaklee. Young mustard male who is well balanced. Good head which was strong with his distinctive beautiful soft hair on top. Large round sleepy eyes giving a great expression. Good muzzle and super teeth. Correct long body with his chest well down past elbows, downwards curve on back and rise over the loins. Tail bang on and a good double coat. BOB PG (1Ab) O (3AB)

PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER

P (1) Aspell & Dixon’s Scapegrace Faenor. 7 month bitch who’s overall balance was pleasing. Wedged shaped head with correct ear placement and dark eye. Prefer forelegs to have been carried more under body. Good length of neck and body which was straight and spannable. Liked her rear quarters with well-developed second thigh, stifles well bent and good hocks. BOB. BP

SCOTTISH TERRIER

O (1) Redfern’s Eimahans Leap of Faith. Soundly made bitch with a lovely outline. Feminine head of good proportions and the most beautiful small very dark brown eyes. Muscular neck leading onto a good body with well rounded ribs. Big hindquarters which allowed good rear movement. BOB

SOFT COATED WHEATEN TERRIER

J (1) Farquharson’s Manawyddan Song for Ireland. Very masculine head with a typical expression. Correct flat skull, small ears, good mouth and well furnished fore face. Powerful neck, level back but roached over loin. Plenty rear angulation. Good tail carriage. Thick soft coat which looked like it was ready to come out, with the darker wheaten colour growing in nicely. Confident and happy chap. PG (1) Shrive’s Clanhanna Reet Petite. I liked the overall balance of this 2 year old. Powerful head in proportion to the rest of the dog, with a good reach of neck flowing cleanly into her well laid back shoulders, nicely angulated front with correct depth of chest. Short coupled. Covered the ground well with plenty reach and drive. Good bone and correct coat of soft and silky waves with darker wheaten colour just about through. BOB
