Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at the Open Show 2023. It is a great honour and privilege, to have the opportunity to assess so many lovely dogs. To all the exhibitors for their entry and the opportunity to go over your dogs – THANK YOU. It was such a shame about the absentees, I think this may have been due to the Pointer & Setter Championship show the day before – not easy doing 2 shows in a weekend! And the weather was not kind to us, really dreary and wet. There was a lovely atmosphere, and good to hear applause for all exhibits and their placings.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)

1. Mrs Ciaputa - Ravensett Cote D’Azur

Delightful 6 month old O/B dog, and for one so young presented a nicely balanced outline. Liked is overall substance and body, all giving a shapely silhouette. Nicely proportioned head, with a dark oval eye to give a gentle expression. Super depth, and development of forechest, ribs well sprung and standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. He held his topline both stood and on the move, with a good tail carriage and enjoying his day. Clean and true in his hind movement, just needing to settle in front. Put on a good performance to the end of the day to take BPD & BPIS

2. Taylor & Atyeo - Ravensett Cappuccino

Loved the body and substance on this 6 month old Tri. She has elegance and substance combined to present a smart outline. Balanced head, with a good length to the foreface and dark eye, still needing to break as you would expect. Well developed in brisket and forechest, standing on well boned limbs and neat feet. Not showing herself off to advantage today, being rather distracted and therfore moving a little erratically. Love to see her again when she is on form.

2. Mrs Beasley - Wansleydale Mayflower At Latjeata

Another pleasing bitch, 2 year old B/B who had her naughty head on today, giving her handler a hard time! Liked her overall size and shape, very feminine all through and elegant in her outline. She has a balanced head, with a lovely dark eye, but today preferred the work in the head of winner. Good length of neck, a firm and level topline. Enough depth and spring of rib, with limbs of good round bone and well arched toes to the feet. Angulation fore and aft are balanced. When settled moved out well. Shown in good coat.

Open Bitch (6,2)

1. Pitts & Normsell - Ned Ch Vanquish Opportunity (imp Nld)

My star of the day, darker blue bitch, going all the way to take BIS, in a hard fort contest with the VB winner. Today she looked a picture on the stack, so very balanced, combining elegance with the desired substance. Each part just flowing seamlessly into the next to give an impressive outline. She is clean and sound throughout, and adds that elusive sparkle needed to take the top spot. She has an appealing quality head, lean, with strength to the foreface, oval shape to the backsull, melting dark almond eyes to give such a soft and gentle expression. Clean neck of good length, flowing into her firm well held level topline. She has good depth and well developed in forechest. Stands on well boned limbs and tight feet. Well balanced angulation fore and aft, with hindquarters showing a good width of thigh and well bent stifle. Moved out purposefully, with her head held high, firm topline and lashing tail. Clean in her front and rear action. In first class coat and condition – BB & BIS

2. Mrs Beasley - Wansleydale Amaretto At Latjeata

Very smart 6 year old tri bitch, who has a lovely outline when stood, so elegant and graceful. Most feminine of head, nicely chiselled, good stop, low set ears and dark soulful eyes. Good length of neck with a slight arch, flowing into her well held level topline. Brisket is down to the elbow, and her ribs are nicely sprung. Complimentary angles which enabled her to move positively and true. Put down in lovely coat and condition.
