The Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Society Wednesday 9th August 2023 Judge-Ian Sexton I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their show today and for the exhibitors for their entries, I had some quality dogs entered under me and I had an enjoyable day. Welsh Corgi (Pembroke). Grad (1) 1st. Miss A H Cutts-Haresfoot Fates Align. An 11 month old R/W male, very typical in outline, foxy head, and expression, well set ears, dark eyes and the correct bite and dentition. Strong neck, well laid shoulders and upper arms, well sprung ribcage, level topline, and well angulated rear quarters. His movement was sound and true, and he had a lively gait when moving around the ring, a very promising youngster. BP and first in the Pastoral Puppy Group. Open (3)2 1st. Mr D A & Mrs W Rees-CH Stadwen Figaro. A 7 year old R/W male, although a veteran he is still a quality specimen of his breed, masculine throughout, lovely head proportions, well set ears, dark eyes, and the correct bite with a strong muzzle. Well angulated front and rear quarters, level topline, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, his movement was sound and steady, and I was pleased to award him, BOB and fourth in the Pastoral Group. 2nd. Mr D W Jones- Ceranda Surf’s up. A 9 year old male, a pleasing head and ears, dark eyes and the correct bite, strong neck, well laid shoulders, and upper arms. Deep chest and ribs carried well back, I preferred the topline of the first placed dog, his movement was a little laboured on the day. Welsh Corgi (Cardigan) Open (5)4 1st. Mrs J A James-Caprian Dexter at Bwthyn. A 5 ½ year old male, masculine throughout, head of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, strong neck, well laid shoulders and a deep brisket, level topline, strong rear quarters, he moved steadily around the ring. Pleased to award him BOB. 2nd. Mrs C A Langford’s-Caprian The Vixen JW. Litter brother to the first placed dog and similar in most ways but I preferred the topline of the first placed dog. Strong head and muzzle, powerful neck, well laid front and rear quarters, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, his movement was sound and true. 3rd. Mrs J A James-Bwthyn Hopes and Dreams. Border Collie Grad (3)1 1st. Miss M Bartlett’s- Cwnhapus Celestial Beauty JW. A 21 month old B/W bitch, head feminine but of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, good length of neck and well laid shoulder, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, nicely angulated rear quarters and her movement was sound and lively, pleased to award her BOB today. Open (2)1 1st. A 5 ½ year old B/W bitch, typical breed outline, balanced and in proportion, head and muzzle of the correct proportions and the correct bite. Strong neck and well laid shoulders and upper arms, deep chest and ribcage carried well back, rear quarters well angulated, and she moved soundly, pushed hard for BOB but I preferred the youth and athleticism of the younger bitch. Smooth Collie Open (2) 1st. Miss a Lusty’s-Blamorder The Hustler. A 2 year old blue Merle bitch, a feminine but strong head proportions, flat skull and a strong muzzle, correct bite, a strong well arched neck, well lad shoulders and upper arms, deep chest and ribcage carried well back. Back level with a slight rise over loins, well bent stifles, and strong rear quarters, she moved effortlessly around the ring showing reach and drive, pleased to award her BOB and second in a strong pastoral group. 2nd. Mrs K & Mr M Martin’s-Shandlmain Blu Chief. A 4 year old blue merle male, masculine throughout, strong head and muzzle, correct bite, I would have preferred more lay back of upper arm, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, well bent stifles and strong rear quarters, his movement was sound and true. GSD Open (3)1 1st. Lady S Reilly’s- Endearing Warrior at Darmaror. A 14 month old male, typical and well balanced outline, head and muzzle of the correct proportions, long strong neck and well laid shoulders and upper arms, deep chest and ribs nicely sprung. Gently sloping topline and strong well bent stifles, his movement sound and true, BOB. BSD (Tervueren) Open (1) 1st. Domburg New Love at Willowfrost. A 2 ½ year d bitch, showing a balanced and breed typical outline, feminine but strong head and muzzle proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, a slightly arched neck of the correct length. Shoulder blades and upper arms set at the correct angle, deep chest and a nicely sprung ribcage, level topline and well bent stifles, low hocks, her movement was sound and true showing the correct amount of reach and drive in profile, BOB and third in a strong pastoral group. AVNSC Pastoral Puppy (4)2 1st. Mrs J & Mr M Treasure’s-Pavoskas Galaksiitti (Finnish Lapphund). An 11 month old male, appeared very unsettled on the day, typical and balanced outline, head and muzzle masculine, erect ears, and the correct bite. Powerful neck, shoulders, and upper arms with the correct layback, deep chest, level back and a strong short loin, nicely bent stifles and low set hocks, his movement was good but a little erratic at times, Best Puppy. 2nd. Mrs J & Mrs R M Price’s- Valltineya Galadriel (Swedish Vallhund). An 8 month old bitch, I would have preferred a tidier front, she has a balanced outline, head of the correct proportions, pricked ears and dark eyes, neck long and muscular, shoulders well laid back, deep chest and well sprung ribcage and a level back, well bent stifles and she moved with drive in profile. PG (6)4 1st. Miss J Rivers- Orora’s French Silk At Merrimak JW (Bearded Colle). A 22 month old bitch, she impressed me immediately with her breed typical outline, being balanced and in proportion, she was well handled and beautifully presented. Head and muzzle of the correct proportions, correct bite, neck of the correct length, well laid shoulder blades and a deep chest, level back, well sprung ribcage carried well back and the correct length of loin. Well bent stifles and low set hocks, coat in great condition with the correct texture, a young bitch and I am sure she will have a bright future, I was very pleased to award her Best AVNSC and first in a strong Pastoral Group. 2nd. Mrs E S Jones’s- Leader Dei Nobilpazzi (IMP ITA) (Old English Sheepdog). A 17 month old male and he impressed me with his overall breed typical shape, giving the impression of being square but balanced and in proportion, masculine and well boned. Strong head and muzzle of the correct proportions, correct bite. He has a strong neck, well laid shoulders and a deep chest with a well sprung ribcage carried well back, strong rear quarters and he moved soundly with reach and drive in profile, he pushed very hard for first place today, another very promising youngster. Open (6)4 1st. Mr P Reynolds- Austmans barb Dwyer With Shardlow (Australian Cattle Dog). A 13 month old blue speckled bitch, with a compact and balanced outline, feminine but strong throughout, head of the correct proportions, ears well set, and the correct bite. Neck of the correct length and strong, well laid back shoulder blades, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, and a level topline. Well bent stifle and low set hocks, her movement was. Sound and true showing reach and drive in profile. 2nd. C L & A Wright & Leader’s- Angelicus Que Sera At Bjelkier ShCM (Samoyed). A 9 ½ year old bitch who belied her age, lovely typical outline, wedge shaped head, strong muzzle and the correct bite, dark eyes. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders, deep chest, ribs well sprung, strong loin, well angulated rear quarters, she moved soundly showing reach and drive in profile. AV Pastoral Puppy (5)2 1st. Miss A H Cutts-Haresfoot Fates Align (Welsh Corgi Pembroke). 2nd. Miss W E Allison’s- Wenmap Topkapi Gem (Border Collie). A 6 month old B/W bitch, balanced and in proportion, well handled and presented on the day, feminine expression with strong head proportions, correct bite, neck of a good length, well laid shoulder blades, deep chest and correct spring of rib, well angulated rear quarters and her movement was sound and true showing reach and drive when moving around the ring. Open (2)1 1st. Mr P Reynolds- Austmans Barb Dwyer With Shardlow (Australian Cattle Dog). Veteran (9)7 1st. Miss a Lusty’s-CH/AM GR CH/CAN GCH Cardross Red Dirt Road To Blamorder (Smooth Collie). An eight year old male, a dog with a strong and powerful outline, balanced and in proportion, a wonderful head and muzzle, ears well set on and held correctly, he has a strong and powerful neck, well laid shoulders and upper arms, deep chest, and a well sprung ribcage. Level back with the required rise over his loin, strong rear quarters with well bent stifles, he moved freely and soundly around the ring showing reach and drive, a lovely veteran dog and a pleasure to go over him today. 2nd. Mrs J Price’s- Starvon You Got It At Coningsbear ShCM (Swedish Vallhund). A 9 ½ year old male, showing a balanced outline, a wedge shaped head with a strong muzzle, dark eyes and the correct bite, strong neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, level back and well angulated rear quarters.
