South & West Wales Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club

Many thanks to Gary Thomas and his committee for inviting me to officiate at this well organised and run breed club show held at the WKC. I was delighted with the entry numerically thank you to all the exhibitors. Bitches were on the whole better than the males and I did note quite a few stops that were fairly deep and not as shallow as required. I was impressed that so many dogs were on form bearing in mind the long day and the wind that picked up during the club show.

Minor Puppy Dog 1. Arroline Kryptonite Promising tri dog who appealed for his overall size and balance. Quality head with large expressive eyes and high set ear. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Correct topline and tail set. Good turn of stifle. In good condition. Moved well although could be a fraction more positive gong away. 2. Kelrick Lord of Dreams. Blenheim who has lots of qualities. Pleasing head piece with correct ear placement and correct shallow stop. Not quite the eye and expression of the first placed dog. Good chest. Good moderate bone. Slightly longer coupled than 1. In good coat and markings well broken up. Moved well.

Puppy Dog. 1 Loranka’s He’s The One. This is a very nice Blenheim dog who has quite a lovely head and the nicest of expressions. Lovely head proportions and shallow stop. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Good bone and feet. Correct topline with no falling away, good tail set. In lovely silky jacket and well feathered. Could be a little tidier going away but lovely side gait and holds his topline on the move.

Junior Dog. 1. Oaktreepark Royal Austin. Typey Blenheim with lots to like. Pleasing head although has a lot of hair on his skull which slightly detracts and from a distance makes his skull look less flat. Nice overall proportions. Good bone and feet. Super rib and short coupled with short strong loin. Level topline. Moved well. 2. Llapsttam’s Secret Affair B/T. Nice for size. Nice head although would to be critical prefer a little cleaner in back skull. Lovely dark eye and well-set ears which are nicely feathered. Good bone. Not quite the topline of the winner and would prefer a better tail carriage. Moved well.

Maiden Dog. 1 Arroline Kryptonite 2. Kelrick Lord of Dreams. A repeat of MPD.

Novice Dog. 1. Thekop’s Medicinal Brandy. Ruby. Lovely head proportions and correct stop. Well set ears. Good chest and front assembly. Well ribbed up and short. Just falls away at the croup which detracts from the overall picture. Moved well with drive.

Graduate Dog. 1. Lexody Pandemonium. Balanced dog who is pleasing to go over. Nice head of correct proportions and has the correct desired expression. Good neck and shoulder. Good bone and feet. Level topline. Nicely angulated behind. Would prefer his elbows a fraction tighter for preference. Moved ok. 2. Earlrae Bourbon Lancer. B/T Nice for overall size and shape. Flat skull with well set ears. Nice eye. Would prefer a little less stop to complete the

picture. Good neck and shoulder. Well ribbed up. Nice hindquarters. Would prefer him to carry his tail lower on the move.

Post Graduate Dog.1. Earlrae Bourbon Lancer. Second in Graduate.2. Loranka’s Encanto. Nice for overall size and shape. OK head. Nice neck and shoulder and well ribbed up. Nice hindquarters with correct angulation. For me I would prefer less wave to his coat. Moved ok but could be a bit tidier coming towards you.

Limit Dog. 1. Brymarden Touch of Gold of Charnavale. Blenheim who scores for his overall type. Pleasing head although would prefer his ears a fraction higher set. Has the most lovely eye. Good neck and shoulder. Pleasing front assembly. Good bone and feet. Well ribbed and short coupled. Overall, a very nice dog but was rather uninterested in showing today.

Open Dog.1 Cavallibrook George Ezra JW. I liked this young Blenheim as soon as he came into the ring. He is an upstanding male who demands a second look. This dog has a very correct head of ideal proportions. Flat skull and well-set ears. Well-spaced dark eyes full of expression, Good neck and shoulder. Correct front assembly. Correct bone and feat. Level topline and tail set. Well angulated hind quarters. Moved out well and sound in both directions. Comes into his own on the go around. Well-conditioned and in a quality jacket. Pleased to award him BD and BIS. At the time of writing this critique I have had George in a BIS line up and junior warrant qualifier both awards he annexed. 2. Loranka’s Time to Dream. Didn’t stay for critique. But a nicely made dog but just out of coat today.

Minor Puppy Bitch.1 Charnell Songbird. What a lovely start to the bitch classes. I thought this Blenheim bitch quite beautiful, and she topped what was probably the best class of the day. Songbird scored for her overall balance and outline. On inspection of her head, it is of correct proportions, and she has the correct amount of stop. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Short coupled. Correct topline. Nice hind angulation. Moved very well. In super coat and condition. Reserve best bitch with some to spare. 2. Arroline Eternity Another nice bitch with many of the qualities of 1. Very nice head and expression. Nice overall proportions and balanced throughout. Not quite as mature as 1 but a nice prospect. 3. Kelrick Diamond Girl

Puppy Bitch. 1. Ellemich Good Trouble with Gleniren. I was very happy to see this young Blenheim bitch who is teeming with quality. Still relatively raw she and with some maturing to do she is an exciting prospect. Very pleasing head and expression with the most lovely of eyes which are well spaced, large and full of expression. Correct ear set. Well cushioned. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Good bone and feet. Level topline which was in the minority today and tail carried correctly. Nicely angled. Good coat and markings well broken. Presented in A1 order. Moved well with impressive side gait. BB over the lovely minor puppy. Well done. Was pleased to hear she had gained her first CC earlier on in the day under Jeff Horswell. 2. Granasil Tea House Moon on Sancana. B/T who was unlucky to meet 1 in such form. Another with a lovely head and expression. Nicely proportioned overall. Enough bone for a bitch. Good feet. Not quite the topline of 1 and not quite as positive on the move.

Junior Bitch. This was an excellent class with three very nice bitches present. 1 Rishtte I’M Tanisha of Remmya. Ruby bitch of excellent type. Good head and expression and correct head proportions correct shallow stop. Nicely made throughout. Good topline and tail set. In excellent coat of correct texture. Excellent mover and won this class on her movement. and 2. Babette of An Excellent Choice to Clemartill. Blenheim with the best of heads and most exquisite expression. I really could have looked at her head all day. Super to go over. If she had just put a bit more in on the move it would have made decision making a little harder. A nice prospect. 3. Oaktreepark Royal Ava

Maiden Bitch. 1.Arroline Eternity. 2. Jamesbonny Pure Lucasade.Pleasing Blenheim who was not so happy today which one can understand with the wind and the noise from the refreshments van. Neverthless a nice bitch of quality. Noce head and expression and another with super breed type which gave her the place today. 3. Kelrick Trinity

Novice Bitch.1 Granasil Tea House Moon on Sancana. 2. Jamesbonny Pure Lucasade. 3. KInvaar Kastaleena To Clemartill

Graduate Bitch.1. Castlewytch Las Vegas. Very nice young bitch with many attributes. Has a super head and expression. Good neck and shoulder, Decent bone and feet. Well ribbed up and short coupled. Won this class on her perfect topline and out moved what was a big class of bitches. 2. Rishtte I’M Tanisha of Remmya. Winner of junior and unlucky to meet 1. 3. Babette of An Excellent Choice to Clemartill.

Post Graduate Bitch.1. Charnell Gintastic For Sancana JW. Quality bitch with much to like. Very pleasing to go over with everything in the right place. Moved very well and with good drive. To be critical I would like her markings a little more broken up for preference. 2. Leogem Campanula. Nice overall proportions and of good size. Nice head. Good neck and shoulder. Short coupled. Correct topline. Nice in profile on the move but could be a bit more positive behind. Needs to grow her jacket to complete the picture. 3. Javerdi Fleur Alyse

Limit Bitch. 1. Conchella Bivi Velvette by Kelrick. B/T. Pleasing bitch. Good head and expression. Nice front. Good bone and feet. Well ribbed and short coupled. In good jacket and well put down. Would prefer a better tail set. Moved ok. 2. Droleus That’s M’calon Aur At Gwawr.Fourth placed in PG. Nice head and nice expression. Overall proportions are correct. Would prefer a little more neck to complete the outline. Nicely boned and good feet. Another who would score higher if she carried her tail a little lower.

Open Bitch.1 Jernito Winter Hope. Pleasing Blenheim bitch. Correct head with good eye. Correct front assembly. Well ribbed up. Won this class on her correct topline and movement. In lovely bloom and condition. Markings well broken up. 2. Loranka’s Secret Potion. B/T Nice bitch with many qualities. Nice head and ears. Good large dark eye. Super body proportions but just falls off at the croup. Moved very well. 3. Anickily Anna Rose Sancana

Veteran Bitch. 1. Arroline Pheonix. This is a beautiful tri-bitch who does not in any way show her age. This bitch excels in head which is quite lovely and with a beautiful eye. Good neck and shoulder. Nice bone and feet but wide in front. In super condition and coat. Moved very well. BV. 2 Charnell Moonshine at Ameldinay. Blenheim. Quality bitch of correct size. Nice

expression but preferred the head. Good neck, well laid shoulders. Good bone and feet although a little down on her pasterns. Well ribbed. Moved well. of 1. 3. Boatswain Azure at Droleus.
