Midland Counties Norfolk Terrier Association

Many thanks for asking me to judge this very friendly and well organised club show. Many thanks to the secretary Ruth Gee and the chairman Allenby Stevenson for their hospitality. I must thank my steward Lucy Mottram who kept the ring in good order and who very kindly take pictures of all my principal winners for me. A lovely day.

Special Beginners Dog. Brickin Wish Me Luck at Megalex Nice type of Norfolk terrier. Masculine dog. Very Typey in head with good broad skull with good ear placement and carriage. Nice, neat dark eye of correct shape. Overall head proportions are correct. Good neck into decent shoulders. Correct top line and tail set. In good jacket of correct texture. I would just prefer him am a little fraction higher on the leg for overall balance and to complete the picture. 2 Jacquidon Rich Tea another nice dog of quality. Very typically male. Nice broad skull with good eye placement, neat dark eye, correct stop, I would just prefer him a little fraction shorter in muzzle for preference. Good neck and shoulders. Nice overall proportions. Moved very well in both directions and well handled. 3. Watercroft Brown Boots.

Minor Puppy Dog 1. Watercroft Strands of Gold. Red dog. Although alone in this class was a worthy winner. He is a very quality puppy with a very pleasing head and expression. Well off the bone and with good tight feet. Good neck into very well placed shoulders and nice solid topline for a young dog which he retains on the move. Moved well. Needs to shorten up to complete picture, has time on his side.

Puppy Dog 1. Watercroft Tiger Feet I really liked this young dog. A light red dog who is very mature for his age. He has the most super head of correct proportions, with good broad skull well-placed correct sized ears, neat dark eye of correct almond shape. Correct stop and his muzzle to back skull proportions are exactly as I was looking for. He has a good muscular neck into well-placed shoulders and has a very good front assembly. He is well let down for one so young. Good bone and neat feet. Harsh jacket. This young male has a well angulated rear and is well muscled up for a puppy. Nice tail set but I would prefer a straighter tail. Moved well with good drive. BPD and seriously considered for RBD. 2. Earthtaw Owain The Celt. B/T. Quality dog with many virtues. Pleasing head. Not as mature as the first place dog and needs to break in head and to rib out and fill out overall. Pleasing overall proportions. Could be a little tidier going away. 3. Watercroft Pickled Pudding

Junior Dog 1. Watercroft Billy The Kid. Red dog who won this class on his overall confirmation. He has a pleasing head which is of correct proportions. He has a good dark eye. He is lovely to go over with a well-made front, good top line, well ribbed and with good short muscular loin. Good hind angulation. Still has time on his side to fill out in the chair. For me today he was a little too small and feminine throughout. Moved well. One to watch. 2. Littlemount Celyn Y Mor. Substantial dog. He has an excellent head of nice proportions. Good broad skull with correct ear placement. Correct stop and strong wedge-shaped muzzle. Good neck and shoulder but could be better in front. Well bodied up with good rib and in excellent hard condition. Moved ok. 3. Kinsridge Top Banana

Novice Dog 1. Watercroft Just a Jiff. B/T. this young male appealed for his overall shape and size. I really like the head on this young male. He has a head of good overall proportions he is

strong throughout with no signs of femininity. He has a lovely dark eye of correct shape. I thought his head quite excellent and an old fashion type. Good length of neck into well-placed shoulders and nice front. He has a good solid top line which he retains on the move. He is well ribbed for a young male. Need to settle in front but moves with good drive. He could benefit from his adult coat coming through. 2 Kinsridge Top Banana. This is a nice young Norfolk who was not presented to advantage today. He has a very pleasing head with a nice expression. His skull is broad for his size and his ears are well placed and well carried. His head proportions are correct although if I was to be critical, I would like a slightly darker eye. He is well constructed throughout. Unfortunately, today he was totally stripped out which cost him in earlier placements. He would be shown better to advantage if he was moved a little quicker.

Post Graduate Dog 1. Jaeva Raising Hell. B/T. good dog for overall size and shape. Pleasing head with good expression. To be hypercritical he could have a slightly darker eye to complete the picture. Good length of neck into well-placed shoulders. Has enough bone and has good tight feet. Good depth of chest and good spring of rhythm, well written back. Good short muscular line. Well put down in good order. Moved OK. 2. Watercroft Earl Grey. Red dog of good size and shape. Good overall type. Excellent rib and body. He picks up a little too high in the front for me which spoils his overall picture on the go around. He could have a slightly higher tail set. In good hard condition.

Limit Dog. 1. Jacquidon Hot Off The Press. I have like this young dog since I saw him as a puppy. I think he’s a very nice young dog. He has a beautiful head and an excellent expression.Good neck and shoulder. Nice front and well let down. Level topline. Good hindquarters, which are well muscled up. Moved well fore and aft, just not too enthusiastic on the move today. 2. Brickin Wish Me Luck at Megalex. 3. Watercroft Brown Boots

Open Dog Good class to judge as face with two excellent quality dogs 1. Kinsridge Cash Point. A very nice dog who appealed for his overall size and balance. He has a very correct headpiece of good size and overall proportions. Good neck into well placed shoulders. Well ribbed up and with shortloin. This dog is well off for bone and has neat feet. Well-muscled behind which is well angulated. Moved well. For a moment he appeared less interested but did more than enough to win this class. Upped hid game further in the challenge and was ultimately BD and RBIS. 2. Watercroft Spotted Dick. Another quality dog who was not belittled by standing second. Much to like in this young male and many of the same attributes above apply to him. Just preferred the overall size and masculinity of 1.

Veteran Dog 1. Ralph of House Nash. Nice black and tan who excels for his overall shape and size. Very obviously male but not overdone in anyway. He has a pleasing head although I would like more strength of underjaw. Put down in excellent jacket and in A1 condition. Moved well for a veteran dog.

Special Beginners Bitch 1. Tiggy of House Nash. B/T Nice bitch of good overall size and shape. She has a very typical head with nice expression overall. Good front. Nicely ribbed up and good top line. For me she is a little stuffy in the neck which detracts from the overall balance. Good muscular hindquarters. Moves OK.

Minor Puppy Bitch Nice class to Judge as all three are quality puppies and I am sure they will change places as they mature and finish. 1. Watercroft Back in a Jiffy. B/T of lovely type and I note litter sister to the winner of novice dog. Like the others in this class she needs time but is very promising indeed. She is of excellent breed type with a lovely head piece of correct overall proportions. Neat ears of correct size and well carried, with good dark eye which contributes to her expression. She has a good neck and into well-placed and correctly angulated shoulders. Nice front. Good overall body proportions just needs to mature. Correct tail set. Coat is harsher than it first appears. Moved very well for such a young girl. Happy to make her BP and RBB. 2. Kinsridge Brownie Point. Another Super young prospects who pushed the first-place bitch hard. She has a very pleasing head with good braod scalp and correct back skull to Muzzle ratio. Correct stop. Good strength to muzzle. Nice overall proportions and good hind quarters. Moved ok. Just needed to settle into her job. Was just slightly bum high on the day which cost her higher honours, however as I complete this report, I have just judged her again in a puppy stakes and this has already settled down, the joy of judging puppies. 3. Watercroft Quick as a Flash to Germanus. Another nice young quality bitch.

Puppy Bitch 1. Watercroft Edged in Gold. Red bitch who I thought quite lovely. Very typy. Good head and expression. Correct length neck into correctly angled shoulders of Silverlilly of House Nash. B/T Nice sized puppy of overall pleasing proportions. Good breadth of skull and neat ears. Good dark eye. Would prefer a little more strength of underjaw. Good neck and shoulder. Ok for bone but would prefer a more round foot. Good topline which she holds on the move. One cannot fault the presentation of this harsh coated bitch.

Junior Bitch 1. Kinsridge Cash Preferred. This very typy young bitch impressed for overall size and type. So lovely to go over on the table and in the hardest of conditions with good coat. Pleasing head and expression. Well made throughout with good bone. Nicely ribbed up. Well angulated behind. Lovely in profile on the move, could be a little more drive from behind.

Novice Bitch 1. Umbrage Special Delivery. Quality red bitch with a very pleasing head and expression. Head is of good proportions and there is strength in her muzzle. Could be a fraction more lay of shoulder. Good rib and short in loin. Nicely muscled up behind. Moved freely. In super jacket.

Post Graduate 1. Watercroft Gin Fizz. Nice young quality bitch who didn’t help her handler today. Lots to like here with a quality head piece and good expression. Feminine bitch yet still a cobby substantial specimen. Super rib and body. Nice short muscular loin. Good harsh, well presented jacket. Moved well when she decided she wanted to.

Limit Bitch 1. Watercroft Treacle Toffee. This is a very nice red bitch who pleased for her overall size and proportions. Typical quality head which has strength through but is still very feminine. Nicely constructed throughout. Good bone. Nice tight feet. Well angulated rear. Correct foot fall but could have a little more drive behind. Moortop 2.Bobby’s Girl. Red who presents a very nice overall shape and is good for size. Skull is broad enough and has a good dark eye. I would prefer a shorter muzzle and a little less chiselling. Good neck and shoulder. OK front. Nice rib and good topline. Moved well. In the harshest of jackets. 3. Ivrig Dancing in the Sun.

Open Bitch 1. Watercroft In The Que. A dark red bitch who really appealed for her overall type. She is of excellent breed type with the best of heads. Broad skull, neat well carried ears. Correct skull to muzzle proportions. Good stop. Neat dark eye. Good neck and shoulder. Level short topline. Super hind quarters which are well muscled up with good second thigh. Cobby substantial bitch, who I wouldn’t want much bigger. Moved with drive and held her topline well. Super harsh well presented dark red jacket. To be critical I would like a fraction less wide in front but this didn’t detract from her other qualities. BB and BIS

Veteran Bitch 1. Nordalset Little Bit of Sun for Ivrig. Was a surprise to hear that this bitch is 10 and a half years of age, she certainly doesn’t look it. Nice bitch of good breed type. Nicely made throughout and in super hard condition. Moved very well and with good drive.
