THE FIELD SPANIEL SOCIETY CENTENARY YEAR SHOW - 24TH SEPTEMBER 2023

My thanks to the Society for inviting me to judge such a special show which I thoroughly enjoyed. Special thanks must go to Graham and Sophie for be such wonderful stewards.

PUPPY DOG (3,1)

1st. Wheeler’s Elgert King For A Day - 7 months old balanced liver dog, dark eye, good head proportions for age, moderate stop, correct front and rear quarters, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, correct body proportions for age, moved well once settled with reach and drive, one to watch in the future. RBD, BPD, RBIS & BPIS

2nd. Prew’s Redeswell Albus Allure - 11 months old liver dog, masculine head and kind expression, long clean neck, deep chested, needs time to fill his frame, long loin, would prefer a better topline, well bent stifle, moved soundly.

1st. Wheeler’s Elgert King For A Day – As before

LIMIT DOG (3,1)

1st. Elliott’s Elgert Break Every Rule at Portsoy - Blue roan dog with a masculine head with dark eye, straight forelegs, would prefer tighter feet, good spring of rib, short loin, correct tail set and carriage, well muscled rear end, moves well from behind.

2nd. Moss’ Ewtor The Wizard - Liver dog who needs time to fill his frame, pleasing head and expression, straight front, would prefer tighter feet, clean neck into well placed shoulders with corresponding return of upper arm, deep chested, well bent stifle, needs to settle on the move.

OPEN DOG (1,0)

1st. Moss’ Sh Ch Fecimus Chase The Dream to Ewtor JW - This dog appealed for breed type and balance, masculine head with correct planes, moderate stop, clean slightly arched neck into correct front assembly, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, deep chested, good spring of ribs, well bent stifle, correct tailset and carriage, moved with reach and drive. You can understand why this dog is a champion. BD & BIS

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (3,0)

These bitches could all change places on another day.

1st. Trevor’s Trevorsilk Blue Velvet - 10 months old liver bitch, feminine head with good head proportions, clean neck into well placed shoulders, well boned forelegs, deep chested, well sprung ribs, short loin, in good coat, moved soundly.

2nd. Adams & Hird’s Elgert Queen Of Hearts to Sparkenhoe - 7 months old black bitch, feminine head with correct proportions for age, clean long neck into well laid back shoulders with corresponding return of upper arm, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, good spring of rib for age, short loin, well bent stifle, moved well when settled, this girl was really enjoying her day out and one to watch in the future.

3rd. Moss’ Elgert Dancing Queen at Ewtor - Litter sister to my 2nd I see and another that has breed type and balance, has good construction all over, but needs time to fill her frame and settle on the move.

PUPPY BITCH (2,1)

1st. Holgate’s Nadavin Neala - 11 months old black balanced bitch who appealed for breed type, feminine head with good proportions for age, dark eye, clean neck, straight well boned forelegs, would prefer tighter feet, well laid lack shoulders, good spring of rib, in good coat, well bent stifle, correct tailset and carriage, moved soundly but in the challenge for BIS/RBIS she was very sluggish. BB & BPB

NOVICE BITCH (2,0)

1st. Prew’s Kingsmist Queen Of Hearts at Redeswell - Liver bitch, feminine head, clean neck, well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, needs to develop in body, correct topline, tailset and carriage, not in best coat, moved ok.

2nd. Adams & Hird’s Elgert Queen Of Hearts to Sparkenhoe – As Before

LIMIT BITCH (2,1)

1st. Barker’s Nadavin Yirki at Tumblebar - Feminine liver bitch who appealed for breed type and balance, feminine head of good proportions, dark eye, correct length of neck into well placed shoulders, correct forechest, well sprung ribs, short loin, correct tailset and carriage, level topline which was held on the move, well muscled rear end. Moved with reach and drive and was clearly enjoying her day out as never stopped wagging her tail. RBB

1st. Bowen’s Clandrift Destiny - Liver bitch that appealed for breed type, feminine head, dark eye, well boned forelegs, would prefer tighter feet, good layback of shoulder but has too much weight over them, well sprung ribs, level topline, not in her best coat, moved soundly.

 SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH (2,1)

1st. Trevor’s Gadhelic Jemima Jiggle for Trevorsilk - Liver bitch with pleasing head, clean neck, well sprung ribs, short loin, well muscled rear end, in good coat, moved soundly but would prefer better tail carriage on the move.

VETERAN BITCH (1,0)

1st. Bowen’s Kingsmist Rose at Clandrift - 7 1/2 liver bitch, feminine head with good proportions, well sprung ribs, deep chested, not in her best coat and carrying too much weight, but clearly enjoying her day out as her tail never stopped wagging. Moved soundly. BVIS
