My apologies to the Society and exhibitors for the lateness of this critique, as I was attending the show as the official photographer I was asked to be a replacement judge at the last minute as the original judge was unable to fulfil the appointment, for that reason the critique was not in my diary or to-do list so was missed.

Puppy (1 entry)

1st: Geary’ “Wesley Vom Alte Wald at Germanus (Imp Hun) NAF TAF”. An upstanding young male who was certainly giving his handler a bit of a hard time, the ring was rather uneven and soft underfoot but showed sound movement, masculine with good strength in the neck nicely balanced angulation and good bone, good ahrsh outer jacket BPIB

Post Graduate (2 entries)

1st: Geary’ “Germanus Stands Out A Mile” so feminine with beautiful expression balanced all through and presented in good harsh coat with excellent furnishings. Strong neck and level topline, Super angulation front and rear gave her an easy ground covering action BOB

2nd : Kearns’ “Rudishaw Waltzing Matilda” a little taller than 1 with a pleasing head and decent neck, nicely balanced bone and depth of body, nice coat and jacket, strong loin and matching angulation moved ok on an uneven surface.

Open (1 entry)

1st: Geary’ “Germanus Go Dutch” my notes say strong and masculine, pleasing head with excellent furnishings, strength through the neck and clean shoulders, good depth to the body and strong through the loin, nice angulation and firm muscle tone, a little erratic on the move probably due to the ground conditions but overall a nice dog.

Puppy  (5 entries 2 absent)

1st: Magson’ “Castlegolden Classy Girl” delightful youngster with super head with excellent proportions, coat coming along nicely and body firming up, nice balance of bone and matcjing angulation front and rear gave her an easy action. Good tail set which was carried with confidence. BPIB and 2nd in the Gundog Puppy Group, well done.

2nd: Coles-Winder’ “Tenfield Glistening Jewel at Bernsglen” another nice youngster of excellent colour, well developed coat and lovely head, strength through the neck and topline, super angulation, a little lighter in bone than 1 but lots to like.

3rd: Hill’ “Siwrengale Sails Into Scarisbrick”

Junior (3 entries 1 absent)

1st: Rhodes’ “Kenzduo Honey Amethyst at Ashrose” well presented in super double coat and without any exaggerations, good head with pleasing expression, clean neck and strong topline, body well developed with good muscletone, moved ok on uneven ground.

2nd: Liggins & Hodges’ “Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook (Imp SRB)” another male with a pleasing masculine head, good neck and maturing in body, excellent double coat, decent matching angulation and well developed muscle, just not as settled when moving

Post Graduate (11 entries 5 absent)

1st: Liggins & Hodges’ “Silver Passion Glam Fashion at Nunsbrook JW (Imp DEU) Super balanced male, masculine but without coarseness, good depth of body and decent bone, no weakness anywhere, good coat of super texture, balanced all through with matching angulation which gave him a lovely side gait and precise footfall. BOB

2nd: Boyle’ “Dilworthey Early Arrival” pleasing head and expression. Nicely balanced bone and substance, excellent coat and firm all through, nicely developed body and strong loin giving him a strong toploin, good tailset and carriage.

3rd: Robertshaw’ “Akenscales Beau Baron JW.

1st: Gower’ “Deniangill Scarlet Ribbons at Aughtonchase” delightful yellow bitch in super double coat, quality head developing nicely with correct bite and strength in muzzle, balanced all through, Ribs well sprung and body well developed, nice balance of bone and substance, BPIB and delighted to see her go Gundog Puppy Group 4


Junior (3 entries 1 absent)

1st: Smith’ “Meadowline Heartbreaker JW” Strong and masculine 16 months black male who was so clean cut with a beautiful flowing outline, delightful head with strong muzzle and good bite, ears correctly set, strong neck and well laid shoulders, good bone and parallel in front, ribs well sprung and firm through his compact loin, solid muscle to the rear quarters with excellent angulation, firm topline and correct tail set and carriage, moved with purpose and precision BOB and over the moon that he went on to Win the Gundog Group.

2nd:Bishop’ “The Girl is Fun from Linjor” Lovely yellow girl who has a nice head with good pigmentation, strong muzzle and good ear set, nice balance of bone and substance, well bribed and firm through the body well developed rear with excellent angulation, tail set on well and carried correctly.

Post Graduate (7 entries 3absent)

1st: Baron’ “Landebec Crazy in Love” yellow bitch of good type and size, strong head but still feminine, strength in neck and well balanced all through, super angulation front and rear which allowed an easy action, good forechest, ribs well sprung and firm loin, tail well set and used to advantage.

2nd: Proctor’ “ Lejie Sugar Almond at Penkaric” super feminine yellow girl who was well balanced with clean lines throughout, close up to and with similar attributes to 1 with regards to development and angulation and I am sure these two will trade places often.

3rd Gower’ “ Aughtonchase Honey Pie”

1st: Ennis-Holden and Lammens’ “Stand By Me of Misty Dreams (Imp Fra)” delighful feminine yellow girl, excellent head with good muzzle and correct bite, super neck and clean lines throughout, correct amount of forechest and standing on well boned legs, ribs nicely sprung, firm loin and well angulated rear, moved with purpose and precison, well handled to be a strong contender in the challenge.

2nd: Baron’ “Mariank Vanity Fair at Landebec” another lovely girl who was totally at one with her handler, presented in good coat and well balanced throughout, workmanlike yet still super feminine, well ribbed body and good angulation, correct tail set but topline just a little soft today.

1st: Brand’ “ Coedhelyg Jungle All The Way” 3 year old male with nice wedge head and correct ear set with good feathering, strength in neck and shoulders, firm topline and nice angulation, the breed standard asks for jaunty movement and this he had in abundance. BOB
