Mid Western Gundog Society

Mid-Western Gundog Society

Premier Open Show Sunday 1st Oct 2023

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank the committee, secretary, and the whole society for inviting me to judge my first Weimaraner classes at this level, a day that I will never forget. And special thanks to the stewards and other judges making it a wonderful experience from start to finish along with friends around the halls.

Overall, a wonderful entry of Weimaraners at this well run show, displaying the epitome of the breed standard, the clear definition between the sexes which in some cases is harder to see recently. All of great colour with their own subtle breed standard shades and all showing good health, condition, and temperament. Immaculately turned-out exhibitors and dogs, you all did your breed proud, thank you all

Puppy

1st Morris, Ms T Kalimor Tinker

A beautiful forming puppy of just under 8 months old, has exactly what I want to see at this age, great in profile and looks like a girl should. A little fidgety on stack but nothing I did not expect to see in a younger dog. Good ratio on head size and delicate to nostrils. Moved out and back covering the ground effortlessly and still managed to give a glimpse of the puppy joy at the end of the move. Fore and hind quarters developing well. Think she will mature into a great bitch in the show ring, looking forward to seeing how she progresses over the next few years BPiB

Yearling

1st Jennings Dr. L, Wallaroo Romeo

This dog is maturing nicely at just over 16 months old, and growing into his body, solid specimen overall of what is required just needs a bit more filling out, which I am sure with a few more months will arrive. Moved well around the ring keeping a well-defined topline, and well-handled giving it the just the edge overall on my 2nd place dog

2nd Osbourne-Fardon Mr, Mrs L, & Mr C, Silberliss Bombadier,

Another good-looking dog, at just over 17 months old. Was a little unsettled while going over him. Moved well around the ring overall and just needs the consistency to hold it all together for the full movement and on another day could push for 1st place, can see these two swapping positions regularly, if he can be a little more settled on stack and move

Graduate

1st Porter-Manning Mrs A R & Mr G, Wallaroo Kynki Bootz

This is a litter brother of Wallaroo Romeo and is remarkably similar build but has slightly more body development currently. Chest is well developed, and ribs sprung well, moved around the ring with drive and covered the ground well. Being more mature and with better developed fore and hind quarters gave him the upper hand over my 2nd placed dog

2nd Morris, Ms T Kalimor Tinker

3rd Willetts Miss G, Prodigy of Jacob

Open

1st Upton-Lovett & Upton Mrs S & Miss H, SH CH Gunalt Lustrous with Roydack

At nearly 6 years old this bitch came flying into the ring like a puppy, her handler calming her down to put on an impressive show for both the correct stack and when moving off in the ring came alive. With great top line staying strong and level. Good angulation on front and rear, with body giving a good spring of rib and nice firm loin, great colour. Still showing enthusiasm for showing, her movement on the day just pipping her to 1St place. BoB

Was happy to be there to see that on the day I was not the only one that thought highly of this bitch, with her going on to get 1St in the Champion stakes and RBiS

2nd Bennett Mrs J & Mr C, Cavalmist Cosworth

A 4.5-year-old dog, with exactly what I like to see in a male, he looked the whole package of power, stamina, balance and so noble looking. For a reasonable sized male, he covered the ring well and the handler got the best out of him on the indoor floor. His very aristocratic head and look stood out, in great overall condition and was a contender for the 1st place. Docked tail of correct length. Was happy to bring him back in and award RBoB

3rd Morris, Ms T Kalimor Gem

4th Kelly Mr J, Kalimor Amazing Grace at Vansant
