North Staffs Canine Society

Thank you to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge most of the Pastoral Group at the above show. A special thank you to my very competent steward, Vicki Grindey, who assisted me.

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD

PUPPY (2)

1. Korozs’ Silver Dream Aussie’s April. A 9-month-old bitch, at her first show. Correct head proportions and well-defined stop. Well laid-back shoulders. Straight, well boned forelegs. Good length of body. Muscled hindquarters. Nice angulation and turn of stifle. Moved well. BEST PUPPY & BEST OF BREED.

1. Richardson’s Celeste Uta Anyaru of Lizoni (Imp Cze). I fell in love with this 10-month-old blue merle puppy bitch, who should have a very bright future. Well grown with typical outline. Balanced head with flat skull. Good almond eye with correct expression. Ears well set, just tipped. Nice reach of neck. Well laid shoulders and straight forelegs, down to oval, tight feet. Super body, with good depth of brisket, level back into well molded croup and strong well angulated hindquarters. Moved very well when settled. Lovely colouring. BEST PUPPY & BEST OF BREED.

1. Richardson’s Koczkodan Sweet Dreams of Lizoni. From the same kennel, but different breeding and type. Nearly 4 years old, elegant tri colour, mature bitch. Head OK, with flat skull and pleasing expression. Good length of body, level and firm back, with slight rise over the loin. Well-muscled thighs and good angulation. RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

JUNIOR (1)

1. Manifold & Jones’ Lankeela Coco Ssh Nell. Feminine, very pretty bitch of liver tan with pigment to tone with coat colour and correct markings. Lovely head and expression with dark almond eyes, showing her super temperament. Ears set well and carried correctly. Muscled hindquarters and well turned stifles.

POST GRADUATE (2)

1. Bradford’s Simonsville Ediva. A lovely feminine head with erect ears. Nice markings. Good front assembly, leading down to good, small, firm feet. Level topline. Muscular hindquarters, well-turned stifles and hocks well let down. Correct tail set on high. Sound mover. RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

2. Lawence’s Brinscall Moors Bertie. A happy little ‘chappy’. Masculine head, of correct proportions, with flat skull and moderate stop. Dark eyes and good mouth. Ears tipped over, but showing plenty of lift at the base. Level topline, good tail set and carriage. Well-muscled hindquarters.

1. Lawence’s Hoscar Ellis’s Eddie. A smart, handsome, mature five-year-old black and tan male, with a balanced, broad head, well used ears and dark almond eyes. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulders and firm topline, with strong well angulated hindquarters and good turn of stifle. Good tail set and carriage. Moved smartly and briskly. BEST OF BREED.

PUPPY (2)

1. Mann’s Samoyed, Silbertips and All That Jazz. What a lovely, striking 10 months old pretty bitch puppy. Quite a handful to show with her exuberant, typical Samoyed type, temperament. Powerful wedge-shaped head, with broad, flat skull. Small ears, with slightly rounded tips. Lovely dark, almond shaped eyes, set well apart, giving that intelligent, smiling expression. Black eye rims, nose and lips. Looked really nice in profile. Well bodied, presented in super condition and excellent coat. So lovely to go over. Correct angulation, strong loin and nice flat feet. Moved freely with strong, agile drive, showing power and drive. She should have a very bright future. I was not surprised to hear she went Best Puppy in Show. BEST PUPPY, BEST A.V.N.S.C. PASTORAL. & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW.

2. Ledgar’s Welsh Corgi (Pembroke), Woodhenge Star Attraction With Jasrolyn. A very nice example of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi bitch. Compared to the Samoyed, she was very ‘laid back’ with not a lot of animation. Good head, round eyes and well carried ears. Correct length of back and level topline. Moved well. Presented in lovely coat and condition. RESERVE BEST A.V.N.S.C. PASTORAL.

POST GRADUATE (2)

1. Ledgar’s Welsh Corgi (Pembroke), Woodhenge Star Attraction With Jasrolyn. As above.

2. Robinson’s Bearded Collie, Megamaree Rose Maylie. A good example of a Bearded Colie. Having a good head with broad skull. Well-constructed body, presenting a nice outline. In lovely coat and condition. Moved correctly. Needs to be more outgoing and have more ring training.

ANY VARIETY PASTORAL VETERAN

1. Boyles’ Collie (Rough), Barrenclough Moon River JW. 10-year-old sable and white bitch. Typical Rough Collie head, with small semi-erect ears, well placed on top of the head. Presented in wonderful condition and excellent double coat. Super body and confirmation. Lacked a ‘wee’ bit of hindquarter muscle, but good for her age. Moved very well on her nice feet.
