Boston & District Canine Society

Many thanks to the committee for the invite to judge both varieties of BGV’s and also to my stewards who did an impeccable job in keeping the ring going. A big thank you to the exhibitors too for making the journey.

PBGV

Puppy (1,0)

1 Bartley’s Erylan Poseidon De La Mer. 11 month old tri masculine dog with a typical head of correct proportions, with that naughty PBGV expression behind his eyebrows, and short ears and big black nose to complete the picture. Good length of neck leading onto a rock solid topline which he held at all times. Ribs reach down to elbow and his general body proportions are good. Correct rear angles with short hocks. Wonderful short, thick tail. Feet ok. Well presented coat which remains rustic as the breed should be. Pleasing on the move although would like a slightly tighter front. BOB & BP.

Junior (2,0)

1 Dalgarno’s Vencharno Stuck On You. Coming up 18 months tri dog who in profile presents a really lovely shape but would prefer more substance all over. Good head proportions and little ears. I liked his length of neck and front angles and lovely straight front legs. To be critical I would like him slightly shorter in body as his leg length is ideal. Good rear angles and a nice short, thick tail. Moved with purpose but front could be tighter. Well presented and handled to perfection as usual from this handler although coat could be harsher.

2 Townsend’’s Overbecks Esme Shelby avec Roxastan. A very pretty 14 month old tri bitch of a lovely petit size who excelled in some breed typical features - wonderful short tail, muzzle and ears and presented in a lovely harsh jacket. Slightly longer than ideal with more moderate angles but she moved well although could carry slightly less weight. She’s very cute with her outgoing and happy personality.

Post Grad (1,0)

1 Guernari & Dane’s Cynetkoy Tinker Tailor. Coming up two years old this tri dog screams male. Excels in substance. He has a masculine head with good furnishings and big black nose, but to be critical his head could be slightly smaller in size to balance with the rest of his body. Prominent chest and deep ribs reaching to elbow. Strong topline and a thick short tail. Wonderful rear angulation which he used to advantage on the move, powering around the ring. Front movement could be cleaner. Overall a good sized male but perhaps a touch more leg could finish off the picture. As always he is immaculately presented with a harsh jacket, whilst still retaining the rustic look.

Open (5,0)

1 Bartley’s Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal. Not far off veteran this tri dog certainly is yet to show his age. He has a good head with short muzzle and ears. Overall his proportions are good. Length of upper arm is good but would prefer a better layback of shoulder. Short, strong loin. Good feet. Thick, short tail with a moderately angled rear. On the move he went around the ring with purpose using his short hocks. Well presented.

2 Bartley’s Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux ShCEx. Five year old tri male with striking colours. Sire of the BOB & BP. He has a masculine head with good proportions, good nose and short ears. Good length of leg with perfect short hocks. Would prefer a better front to balance with his well angulated rear. Good topline which he carried well throughout. He is marginally longer cast than his kennel mate but is not long. Presented well as usual from these owners, but his jacket didn’t have the condition of 1 today.
