 Chesapeake Club Open Show - April 2023

It was a great pleasure to be invited to judge this show, the atmosphere was excellent and the hospitality first class, thanks to the committee for their invitation.

PUPPY DOG (3, 0abs)

1st PIXIESROCK MR TUMNUS BY BLEYOS

Promising puppy of ideal balance, head is correct ratio, dark eyes of pleasing shape, ears high set. Enough neck, shoulders well positioned. Straight well boned forelegs and excellent feet. Ribbed well back, firm in loin, still needing to develop in body but perfect acceptable at his age. Well muscled quarters which he used to advantage moving. Just starting to cast but what he had was in good condition.

2nd TIDEFLIGHT FLOKI

10 month old dog of pleasing overall size and balance. Appealing head, correct for proportions, liked his expression. Enough neck, shoulders could be better positioned. Firm in body and ribbing. Well muscled quarters which he used to advantage on the move.

JUNIOR DOG (6, 1 abs)

1st RUN IN THE WOODS

16 month well balanced dog with an appealing outline. Head of correct balance, pleasing eye colour and shape, ears high set. Neck of sufficient length, moderate front angulation, correct amount of bone and straight forelegs, well padded feet. Deep and well ribbed in body, moderate tuck up. Holds a good outline moving, quarters well muscled and hocks well let down. Oily coat of good texture well presented. Free moving in profile and really driving off his hocks. RBD.

YEARLING DOG (1, 0abs)

1st PASSIONE KNIGHTSPOOL

Dog of medium size, projects a balanced outline. Head is still developing as you would expect at this age, but it is of equal proportions. Stands on well boned legs and excellent feet. Body of correct depth, ribbed quite well back. Very well muscled and conditioned and working well with his handler. A little bit stilted in front action but ver positive moving away. Also Best Special Beginner in Show.

POST GRADUATE DOG (6, 0abs)

1st OAKMARSH HAUNTING HOWL (AI)

Longer cast dog with a head of good balance, pleasing eye shape and colour. Ears high set. Well constructed front, shoulders well positioned. Good bone, could be firmer in his pasterns. Ribbed well back but could be shorter in loin. Lots of coat, perhaps a little softer in texture. 

2nd CHESEPI XAMAZATOWMY

Brown dog who is a very positive mover. Liked his head shape, eyes and expression. Well constructed and starting to develop in body. Shown in good coat.

3rd PIXIESROCK MAESTRO CADENZA

Difficult class, two good ones with different qualities.

1st GLANEILS COUNT ON ME

Medium sized dog, who is balanced and not overdone anywhere. Head is masculine and of good balance, pleasing eye shape and colour. Enough neck, moderate front angulation, medium boned legs and pleasing feet. He is well ribbed back, short though the loin. Presented in correct double coat of pleasing texture. Wide well muscled quarters which he used to advantage on the move. Moved out steadily covering the ground with ease. BD & BOS.

2nd ARNAC BAY INVINCIBLE FOR DUNAKITTS

Large dog, well made and very sound moving. Shoulders well positioned, correct return of upper arm. Strong, well boned legs and excellent feet. Longer cast in the body but ribbed well back, strong well angulated quarters which he used to advantage on the move.

3rd TAKOTA NATHAN

1st Petsals Canuck

4th in PG. Positive moving dog, showing good reach and drive. Quite strong in head and all through. Strongly boned legs and well padded feet. Showin in excellent condition and muscletone. Tail carriage ok.

VETERAN DOG (4, 3abs)

1st MELSEED BENBOW BAGGINS

Compact dog, head of pleasing balance though could have a little more fill in muzzle. Carrying enough weight but ribbed well back.  He had excellent bone, feet a little flat. Did all his owner asked of him. Shown in good coat of pleasing texture. 

GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME DOG (6, 2abs)

1st GREAT RIVER TICINO OF EASTERING (IMP ITA)

Not the biggest dog but he has good overall balance. Stands on straight well boned legs and good feet. Head is well balanced but could be a little stronger in muzzle and cleaner in lip.

Body is ribbed well back and firm in condition. Strong rear, well muscled quarters which he used to move freely. 

2nd TAKOTA NATHAN

3rd in Limit. Head could have a little more strength, enough neck and could have a little more width in front. Firm in body, tail carriage could be better. Pleasing coat texture.

Quality bitch puppy who has immediate appeal. Head of excellent proportions, eyes of medium size and small ears high set. Neck of correct length, shoulders well positioned, just the right amount of bone and excellent feet. Chest well developed, ribbed well back and presented in firm hard condition. Good width to her well muscled quarters. Tail well set and carried. Thick coat of good texture. Well schooled, quietly and capably handled and close up in the challenge. BPIS

2nd RIVERRUN GWEN NAF

Raw 6 month old puppy who was quite positive moving in profile once she settled. Head is still developing as you would expect. Moderate length of neck and shoulders well positioned. Deep in body and ribbed right back. Has good muscletone.

Head of even proportions, although a little weak in muzzle and a little bolder in eye. Well constructed front assembly, enough bone and ok feet. Firm though the body and with well muscled quarters. Moved out positively in all directions.

1st OAKMARSH INDIAN DREAM MAKER FOR CRAVESSA

Well balanced bitch who has a typical head, eyes of pleasing shape and colour. Moderate front angulation, straight well boned legs, ok feet. Ribs well developed and carried well back. Shown in optimum muscletone. Moved straight and true, covering the ground with ease. 

2nd  OAKLEAF MANOR BAY OF OAKMARSH (IMP DEU) JW

Longer cast bitch who shown in excellent condition. Correctly proportioned head, ears well set. Enough neck, shoulders well positioned. Good depth of body, quite well ribbed back. Sounds and positive moving in all directions and shown in good condition.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (11, 0abs)

1st GLANEILS DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY

Straw coloured bitch who won a good class here. Head of correct balance, still needing to finish  a little in muzzle. Dark eyes of pleasing shape and colour. Well angulated front, shoulders well laid, excellent bone and feet. Well developed ribs carried well back, short in loin. Wide well muscled quarters she used to advantage on the move, moves easily in profile. Double coat of pleasing texture. RBB.

2nd ARNAC BAY HAWTHORN

Medium sized bitch who appealed for her lovely type, doesn’t always make the most of herself on the stack but is very sound and positive on the move. Of pleasing balance, well boned legs and the best of feet. Firm in body, well ribbed back. Strong and well muscled quarters which she used to advantage on the move.

1st Morris BAYMOSS TWEED OF PENROSE

Medium sized youngster, head of correct ratio, ears high set but a bit large. Enough neck, shoulders quite well positioned, good bone and feet. Firm in body condition, well muscled quarters. Double coat of pleasing texture, although just starting to lift.

1st ARNAC BAY HARVEST

Bitch who caught my attention straight away for her ideal balance. Pleasing head shape, well balanced, small ears high set. Excellent eye shape and colour. Strong through the neck, shoulders very well positioned , straight well boned forelegs and excellent feet. Deep in body and ribbed well back, firm in topline and it does not falter when she moves. Moves very soundly fore and aft and covers the ground easily on a long stride. Shown in correct coat of excellent texture and handled to best advantage. BIS

2nd SH CH OAKMARSH DANCING DIVA

Another quality bitch, head has strength but retains femininity. Is of good balance and she has correct eye colour. Enough bone, straight forelegs, could be better in pasterns. Correct body proportions, ribbed well back. Moved soundly in all directions but not quite with the freedom of 1. Shown in profuse coat of good texture.

Quality bitch who belies her age, of medium sized, mother of the winning open bitch and very much the same type and outline. Very good head of correct proportions, pleasing eye colour and shape. Good length of neck. Shoulders well laid back, excellent well boned legs and good feet. Ribs well developed. moves very well in all directions, covering the ground with ease in all directions. BVIS

2nd ARNAC BAY GREBE WITH RIPTIDE

Sister to 1 and with many of the same qualities and another who doesn’t look like a veteran. 

Really appealing head, pleasing expression. Good forehand, shoulders well positioned, correct amount of bone.shown in correct double coat of good texture. Moving very positively in all directions.

Bitch of pleasing size and substance who projects a typical outline. Pleasing front angulation, correct amount of bone and feet. Moves out soundly in all directions, shown in correct  double coat of good texture.

2nd OAKMARSH ACORN VW SGWC

13 year old bitch in superb condition for her age and clearly still very much enjoying her day. Stands on excellent well boned legs and good feet. Still has good muscletone and moves positively in all directions.
