Firstly, I would like to give a huge thank you to the whole of the Northern Counties Shetland Sheepdog Club Committee for the invitation to judge at such a lovely show. I had a great time, and you were all so welcoming. It was such an honour to judge here for my first single breed open show appointment! Also, a huge thank you to the stewards who kept everything running smoothly, and last but not least – A huge thank you to all exhibitors who entered under me, I felt so privileged to be able to go over each and every one of your dogs! Congratulations to all winners.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,3)

1st – EDGLONIAN PIME TARGET WITH TOLAROCK – ELSPET PARKER

7-month-old sable and white. This dog has a lovely eye and correct ear placement, showing beautiful expression. Well-shaped head, as well as correct bite. Well-shaped body – Nicely angulated front, good spring of rib, level topline, finished with a long tail reaching to the hock.

Puppy Dog (1,1)

1st – MAGIC MIKE WITH MOLSON – DR JANE HILL

7 -month-old sable and white. This is a lovely Sheltie and couldn’t be denied Best Puppy Dog. The head is well shaped with dark almond shaped eyes, and well-placed ears. Long neck leads to a desirable level topline. Good bone and well-shaped all round, with good spring of rib, and nice front. Body is well-muscled, and the rear displays lovely bend of stifle. Good length of tail finishes a fine presentation. On the move, this dog did so with grace yet confidence.

Junior Dog (2,0)

1st – HILLHENRY IN YOUR HONOUR – DONNA LINFORD

16-month-old tricolour. Lovely head with beautiful expression. Nice length of neck carries the head with confidence. Good shape all round with correct front, level topline, nice rear with good bend of stifle. Nice dark coat finished a desirable outline. Moved well. I was happy to award this Sheltie Reserve Best Dog.

2nd – SHELLAMOYED MIDNIGHT MAX AT SAVATAURUS – MR PETER & MRS PAMELA SAVAGE

17-month-old tricolour. Lovely dog with a nice eye and correct bite. Nice level topline, outline finished by a tail reaching to the hock. Preferred the overall shape of First.

1st – WILLOWTHORN KOBALT STAR BY SAVATAURUS JUN CH & JW - MR PETER & MRS PAMELA SAVAGE

7-year-old blue merle. This dog has a lovely temperament. Nice head accompanied by a nice eye, showing a pleasant expression. Good length of neck shows the head proudly, a level topline, a nice spring of rib and overall good bone finishes a solid outline of this dog.

Limit Dog (2,2)

1st – PATHAARON AFTER THE STORM – GILLIAN MALONE

This dog is a beautiful 4-year-old tricolour which caught my eye with its outstanding jet-black colour, with a good head, alert expression, and correct bite. The well-muscled body consists of a nicely sprung ribcage, a level topline leading onto a rear with pleasing angulation. A long tail finishes a very striking outline. Moved well with balance and drive.

2nd – DOONELODGE THE EXPLORER – MARY GLOVER-GUEST

3-year-old sable and white. This dog has a lovely head with correct eye, and desirable ear placement showing a very pleasing expression throughout the class. Nice angulation of front and good spring of rib. Preferred the outline of first.

Open Dog (2,1)

1st – HIGHBROOK HOBNOB JW – MR K & MRS L GOODWIN

5-year-old sable and white. This dog is absolutely beautiful, with a well-shaped head, almond eyes and ears placed proudly on top of the head showed stunning expression. Long neck separates the head and well boned body. Perfect angulation at the front, level topline, and nice rear with good bend of stifle – a very desirable outline overall. Moved well with grace and purpose.

2nd – SMIDDYSHAW TIME N’TROUBLE FOR JAZTECH – MRS S AMBLER

6-year-old tricolour which has a very sweet temperament. Correct bite and pleasing ear placement on the head, followed by a nice long neck leads to leads to the body which has a pleasant shape overall, and a good length of tail reaching to the hock to finish. Preferred the outline of first.

Veteran Dog (2,1)

1st – CH/AUST CH HARTLEY HOW ABOUT ME FOR MOLSON (IMP AUS) – DR JANE HILL

8-year-old sable and white. This dog is absolutely stunning – starting with a lovely-shaped head, as well as correct bite, almond shaped eyes and ears placed alertly on top of the head, showing a very confident expression. Good length of neck leads to a well-muscled body with lovey bone, which consists of well-sprung ribs, good angulation at both the front and rear, a nice level topline, and a tail which reaches to the hock. Well kept coat finished a beautiful outline. Moved with drive, power and purpose. This dog could not be denied Best Dog.

3-year-old dog. Well-shaped head with correct eye and ears presenting an alert expression. Nice shape overall and a level topline, as well as a well-maintained coat gives this dog a striking outline. Moved well with drive.

1st – MOLSON MR BLUE SKY JW – K BIRD & J CADEN

6-year-old dog. Very nice head with beautiful eye and correct scissor bite – expression showed proudly throughout. Level topline, good bone and nice shape both front and rear. Body finished with a pleasing length of tail. Moved well.

7-month-old sable and white. This bitch is very sweet with nice expression and had a reserved temperament on the day. Good shape with correct front angulation and well-sprung ribs. Nice length of tail reaching to the hock finishes a pleasing profile.

1st – WYLWIND DESIGNED FOR GRANDGABLES (SAF) – GUY JEAVONS & MARCELLA KOENEN

10-month-old tricolour. Very pretty bitch with a beautiful head and sweet expression, as well as correct bite. Long neck separates the head and body. Stunning shape with desirable angulation front and rear, as well as good spring of rib and a level topline which leaves a striking outline. Moved well with reach and drive. I’m sure this bitch will do very well in the future.

2nd – MAD ABOUT YOU WITH MOLSON – DR JANE HILL

7-month-old sable and white. Pretty bitch with a nice head and correct almond shaped eyes, a long neck leads to a well-shaped body at both front and rear, as well as a level topline showing a beautiful outline. The body finished with a long tail. Preferred the movement on first place on the day.

16-month-old sable and white bitch. Sweet bitch with a lovely head and nicely shaped eyes. Well-boned and muscled body with a level topline, good spring of rib and finished with a long tail. Moved well.

18-month-old sable and white. This bitch has a very pretty expression with correct eye and ear placement, and a refined head with correct scissor bite. A long neck separates the head and body well and leads to a level topline and a well-shaped body overall. Long tail finishes a pleasing outline. Moved well.

19-month-old sable and white. Pretty bitch with nicely shaped eyes and correct bite. Long neck leads to a body with good spring of rib, level topline, nice rear angulation. To finish the outline a good length of tail. Moved with grace.

Post Graduate Bitch (3,2)

1st – RANNERDALE HONEY BEE AT HIGHBROOK – MR K AND MRS L GOODWIN

3-year-old sable and white. This bitch has a very gentle and sweet temperament. Good ear placement and alert expression on a well-shaped head. The body is well boned and has nice shape both front and rear with a level topline also adding to a desirable outline. On the move, this bitch did so gracefully yet with drive and reach. Pleased to award Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd – JACQUARD WHO’S BLUFFING – MRS P EAST

6-year-old. This is a pretty bitch with nice expression overall as well as correct bite. Good length of neck. Nice spring of rib and well-boned on the body. Moved well. Preferred the overall shape of first.

4-year-old sable and white. Very pretty bitch with correct head and scissor bite, nicely shaped eyes, and beautiful expression. Nice length of neck separates the head and body. Lovely shape both front and rear with a level topline which completes a stunning outline. Moved with grace.

1st – MOLSON MOVIE STAR – DR JANE HILL

This 4-year-old bitch is beautiful, with its type following all aspects of the breed standard. Stunning head, correct eyes, and nice bite. Long neck gracefully sweeps to a level topline. Nice amount of bone on the body. Perfectly angulated at both the front and rear. Long tail reaching to the hock finishes a lovely profile. Moved well with reach and drive. Couldn’t be denied Best Bitch, and ultimately Best In Show.

This 7-year-old bitch has a perfectly shaped head and lovely ear placement gives an alert but gentle expression. Long neck leads to a body with good bone, nice spring of rib, correct angulation both front and rear, and a level topline which contributes to a lovely outline. Moved well and showed presence in the ring when doing so.
