BEARDED COLLIES

JUNIOR (5:0)

Nice class and initially some of the more glamorous girls had pulled my eye. On individual assessments, having worked through the coat, I then had to make more definite decisions relative to the construction relating to their herding requirements making them fit for function.

1st: Newton. COALACRE DO THE FOX TROT. BPIB. Gorgeous head, balanced and proportionate. Broad, flat skull with moderate stop, big nose, correct head planes and good eye colour with excellent pigment. Good ear set. Moderate length of neck, strong and muscular. Strong level topline. Excellent front assembly and good fill. Well ribbed back to strong loin. Good width to quarters. Enough bend of stifle. Short rear pasterns. Arched toes well padded. Good mover with excellent reach in front and good quality coat, harsh and weather proof. Best Puppy in Breed and Puppy Group 2.

2nd: Peirson. FARMARENS LIKE A CIRCUS FOR KILTONDALE (Imp.Swe). Almost a year and appears to have completed his frame. So he was up to size against the girls today. Good shape. Excellent topline. Pleasing head with correct proportions. Good in foreface with enough underjaw. Good cranial region. Very nice shoulder, correct shaped ribbing. Pleasing in quarters. Moved okay.

3rd: Burgon. CORIMIST CAISSA AT LYNGEM.

POST GRADUATE D/B (3:0)

Solid in muscle with flat, harsh shaggy coat. Pleasing head, good expression with plenty underjaw. Correct well placed ears. Good in rib. Sound honest mover not particularly glamorised, but she is honest and functional. Has good breed type and showed well to secure BEST OF BREED

2nd: Price & Horne. WINARIA WINTER SOLSTICE FOR MOBUFF. Winner of 4th place in Junior and was now more settled than she was in her earlier class where she was rushed. I had admired her previously and she appealed in many departments. Really nice in outline. Beautiful head and expression. Excels in topline. Has decent shoulders and sufficient upper arm. I would prefer a little more fill in front. Really well presented. She is of excellent type, but still young and has plenty time to develop. Just needs to fill her frame yet.

Pleasing head and eye. Strong well-muscled neck leading to really good shoulder. Straight front and good in upper arm. Excellent bone and good feet. Would prefer a shade more fill in front. Very nice ribbing. Good croup, well placed tail. Moved with some reach and drive maintaining topline on the around.

2nd: Leckenby. KILTONDALE CHICAGO FLAME JW. Well presented with a very beautiful head, eye and expression. Pleasing front assembly, very nice ribs and good in quarters. Solid and strong in topline. Good bone and well-padded feet. Would like a shade more fill in front. Moved well.

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD DOGS

GRADUATE D/B (2:0)

Two smart red merles litter brother and sister. To be totally honest my preference for proportions and style was the male. Unfortunately with today’s handler he was just too preoccupied with getting to his owner and didn’t give of himself as I’m sure he can. Whilst my heart was with him judging is on the day, so his litter sister stole the prize away.

1st: Bothwell. NORCIS SUMMER TRUFFLE. BPIB & BOB, PG1 & Res BPIS. Beautifully conditioned, presented and handled. She is typey with a really nice head and expression. She has very nice bone and super feet. Excellent lay of shoulder and long, deep and well sprung in rib. Short in loin and well developed quarters. The topline is solid and she is attractive on the move. Proportionately not exactly my ideal but she has so many other super attributes and I was very pleased to award her BPIB, Best of Breed and Puppy Group 1.

2nd: Bothwell. NORCIS SLIPPERY JACK. Litter brother to 1. He too is extremely well put together constructionally. Super shoulder and upper arm with enough fill in front. Good ribbing. Strong in the quarters. Moves with loads of drive. Well presented in rock hard condition with a very smart head. I liked him a lot and would like to see him again in different conditions.

OPEN D/B (2:0)

1st:Turnbull, Clegram, Holligan & Douglas. TALARD SHE’S GOT THE LOOK. What a cracking bitch. Typey, good mover and a very nice head. She is well constructed. Good bone and excellent feet. Well-developed hindquarters and enough angulation behind. She certainly puts it all in on the move and I loved her power and accuracy as she drove away. She had plenty reach in front and bags of attitude. Initially I thought she would be my best of breed and she certainly gave it her all. Perhaps the ring size and surface wasn’t quite to her advantage as she softened slightly in topline on the around in the challenge. I’d love to see her again on another day.

2nd: Bothwell. NORCIS DUSKY DISCO. Typey tri bitch with good head, expression, finish to foreface, ear shape, set and carriage. Strong in neck through to well angulated shoulder. Good in upper arm and straight and true in front. Good ribbing. Good quarters. Firm, solid topline. So well put together but against the mature bitch giving so much away.

Well placed croup, slightly sloping. Well developed in rear with low set hocks. Tight cat feet, black nails. High set tail and correct shaggy, dense coat with crisp top coat.
