Penrith & District Canine Society

Penrith & District Canine Society Terrier Group

Sunday 17 December 2024

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this friendly well run show with a real family feel to it. It was such a shame there were so many other shows on in the area which impacted entries in many groups.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

G (3,1) 1 Tropical Red Rum at Almostaffs. Smartly made r&w male of just over two years, who is maturing on well. Presented a decent clean outline stood up, in great fit condition, and moved out well coping with the surface to advantage today. In fit condition, I would just prefer slightly better feet. 2 Labrastaf Wild Bean. Outgoing temperament on this youngster who is just out of junior and performed well. Good to go over and demonstrating an excellent temperament at all times. Presented in excellent order.

O (5,1) 1 Sikaistall All of Me at Kamiflo. Typical headed b, this three year old has a very feminine outline all through. Well shapred head of balance and holds her topline both standing and moving. Well placed shoulders, straight front, and excellent width. Stands on excellent feet. Moved out particularly well with accurate footfall and good ground cover. BoB. 2 Ballindona Roger The Dodger. Another who moved very well and was close up to the winner. This exhibit was also presented in excellent order with great muscle and lovely coat. Well made and with balance fore and aft, I just preferred the head of 1 today. 3 Tropical Red Rum at Almostaffs

Terrier AVNSC

PG (3,2) 1 Wyregait Queen of Gold. Shapely elegant and refined young b who is maturing on very well. Has a keen expression and air of confidence in her demeanour which shows when she moves. Like her overall clean outline and balance throughout. Presented in first class order and well handled to get the best from her. Close up for BNSC.

O (4,1) 1 Niddrua Lightning Bolt. Superbly smart upstanding Irish Terrier of excellent type and racy lines. Scores in all departments. Love his head with length and those mischievous dark expressive eyes, neat ears and strength in jaw. Clean dry neck, excellent lay of shoulder and strength in topline. Well ribbed back to soundly made strong quarters. Tail well set on. Stands on excellent feet and pads. Presented in great coat and fit condition. BNSC & G1. 2 Kentwone Boston to Ivyjewel. Liked the type of this WFT a lot, he is shapely, clean in outline, fit in condition, and up for the job, however today he really didn’t take to the floor surface which was so unfortunate. Lovely to handle on the table as he is presented to the minute and everything flows throughout.

Terrier Group

G1 Irish Terrier Niddrua Lightning Bolt, who just had the edge on character and showmanship to clinch the win, ahead of the very lovely Border Terrier, G2, Howthwaite Gaan Divilish, who is very typical and neatly made at both ends. Moved out well and pushed the Irish all the way. G3 Sikaistall All of Me at Kamiflo, SBT.

Terrier Puppy Group

PG1 was awarded to the Border Terrier Carrock Complicated who performed very well and never put a foot wrong. Head is maturing on well, and she already has strength in topline with well set tail. Good bone and stands on good feet. Holds topline well moving and standing. PG2 Labrastaf Wild Bean, SBT, who continued to show very well indeed.

AV Terrier

O (3) 1 Normbar Maggie May. Lovely headed BT b with feminine outlook and lovely dark expressive eyes. Well made all through she was lovely to go over, being presented in perfect condition and great double coat. Stands up well on lovely feet, with straight limbs and is well made fore and aft. Moved out well, just needs a little more enthusiasm. 2 Howthwaite Gaan Devilish. 3 Hightarn Nightfall at Roseghyll.

V (5) 1 Crosby Dark Duchess at Roseghyll. This 12 yo BT made me smile, and is such a great ambassador for the breed and for pedigree dogs, to be looking so great and going so well at this age. What a credit to her owner and her breeding. Lovely to go over and in great condition for age, she used her angulation to best advantage on the move where she produced a sound and easy action using her tail well. What a delight. 2 Keebank With Song. Another BT in great order for this lasting breed. Good type all through and another who went oh so well, what a credit to the breed. 3 Blue Duke of Cumbria at Roseghyll.
