What a lovely well run show – and a super sunny day for it. I had a great entry and so many super exhibits. Thank you for your support.

Brittany

G (2): 1 BOB, Poole’s Bonapartist Temptress at Laurremar, presents a nice outline with correct topline. Lovely pigment & expression from the eyes, open nostrils, excels in front assembly with clean neck into shoulders, tight elbows close to the chest wall & good depth of brisket. Tidy feet, good ribbing & lovely muscletone. At only 13 months she is very together & I was delighted to see her shortlisted in Best in Show; 2 RBOB Slack’s Bonapartist Snow Goose, sister to 1, much showier & I initially thought she would be my winner as she has lovely presence & has good posture going around the ring so she is eye-catching but she does not have the sound front assembly of 1. Good for size & bone, lovely coat condition, correct topline & so perfectly handled.

German Longhaired Pointer

O (2, 1a): 1 BOB Wright’s Caldera Coral Dawn at Lassemista, what a really lovely girl – she was alone but I had great pleasure in just watching her – especially when she moved around the ring & she certainly defines “energetic”! She is raw & has all the excitable exuberance of youth being just 14 months but it is all there. Lovely frame with good body ratios & correct topline. Playful glint in her eye, clean neck, needs to fill out in the front & drop down but this will come with maturity. In lovely condition. She has an effortless ground covering stride - she moved across the ring in three to four strides such was her length of stride – it would be pleasurable to watch her moving out in a big open field.

Hungarian Vizsla

I was absolutely delighted with my entry in this breed – the quality in the bitches was better than the dogs.

J (5, 1a): 1 Bradley’s Ambravittoriya Art Of Love for Marghele (Imp RUS), what a beautiful outline this bitch has, she really is lovely & streamlined from her neck into shoulder transition & has a super topline, clean with no humps or bumps. Good depth of flew, elbows tight to the chest wall with correct depth of brisket, very soundly made & is balanced both ends. She looks good going around the ring. She could be a little stronger on the move through the rear pasterns but I think with the right kind of exercise this could be improved. I thought she was very lovely; 2 Savage’s Roughshoot Quantum Theory at Silvestre, stacks up well & has a well-balanced appearance, with good angles fore & aft. Clean through the neck with no excess flesh, in lovely fit condition & well handled. I would prefer more refinement through the head to give that nobility; 3 BP Cooper’s Happyears Maddalena Magic, 8 months baby, not easy to assess as she wasn’t concentrating on the job in hand, but when freestacked, she presented a level topline. Good ribbing & balanced angles fore & aft.

PG (9, 3): 1 Winkworth & Woodcock’s Oxanaember Thai Pumpkin, nice type, another who appeals in outline with clean level topline. I liked her bone & substance, clean neck into shoulders, tight elbows, brisket down to elbow, good spring of rib, balanced angles both ends. It was a very close call between 1 & 2, this bitch was just a little more precise through the rear pasterns going away on this surface; 2 A Art Of Love for M; 3 Senior’s Feldkirk Moon River.

O (7): 1 BOB Savage’s Silvestre Whoo Hoo, I noticed her as soon as she came in the ring; has a lovely frame, carries herself with good posture & has a super powerful gait. Appeals in outline with a level topline & balanced angles both ends. Lovely head with correct depth of flew & open nostrils, clean neck into shoulders, good front assembly, bone & substance combination, correct bend of stifle with well muscled hindquarters. Won the class on outline & movement. Very well handled. She is a very anatomically sound bitch. Thought she put in a good performance in Best in Show; 2 RBOB Wallington’s HR I/FED BIH Ch Nicael Blue Diamond among Ohanava, also a lovely bitch, very clean in outline, looks polished with no humps or bumps, good bone for size, balanced angles fore & aft, appeals standing & moving & is very hard to overlook as she is very eye-catching but preferred the movement of 1; 3 O Thai Pumpkin.

Curly Coated Retriever

Super entry but sadly many absentees.

J (3, 2a): 1 BP Clack’s Molokain Hocus Pocus, what a lovely quality black bitch, just a baby but everything is there, she looks quality & she feels it when you go over her. Pretty head, beautiful feet, correct depth of chest & ribbing, good angles front and back, moved co-ordinately. She must surely have an exciting future.

PG (5, 3): 1 BOB Clack’s Bazzy Inti Anka at Molokain, smaller liver male but has good bone & is still masculine, appeals standing & moving. Brisket down to elbow, elbows close to the chest wall, correct topline, good angles fore & aft, & really moved well by his super skilful handler - the dog has drive & can really move! A little heavy in his top skull which affected his expression; 2 Gadd’s Fleetpaw Miss Saigon, pretty headed black bitch, nice type, correct body ratios, lovely feet, good strength through straight forearms, correct angulation. Carrying a little extra weight over the shoulders so didn’t have the neck extension of 1.

O (2): 1 B Inti Anka at M; 2 RBOB Solomon’s Foxriever Mystic Marvel, upstanding black boy, presents a lovely picture standing & is very balanced with good bone. Appeals in head, strong neck, great strength through the forearms, strong level topline, stands on lovely feet, in good coat condition. Not the powerful driving movement of 1.

AV Imported Breed Register Gundog

(2, 1a): Best AV Import 1 Wright’s Ansona Heaven Sent to Lassemista, 7 year old Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer, lovely outline with correct body to height ratios & level topline, good bone for size & good substance, correct head properties between skull & muzzle, lovely amber eye. Would prefer more strength through the rear pasterns & found her coat a little fluffy.

AV Gundog Special Working (9): What a super class of quality dogs. 1 Knight & Jacobs’ Flatcoated Retriever, Ch Gemswin Dressed For Success SGWC, not surprised to read she has her title. Stood out as soon as she came in the ring such is her quality. Has a lovely posture so carries herself well, good bone for size, excellent substance & lovely & taut through the loin. Clean neck into shoulders, good balanced angles between thoracic & pelvic regions. Lovely side profile gait. Quality bitch up against a super quality Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 2 Elkin’s Ch Tollelkin Caife Americano SGWC ShCEX, such a striking male so well balanced & stands out for sheer quality, handsome slightly wedge shaped head, good neck into shoulders, superbly turned out in body & coat condition. Tough decision, the bitch just traversed the equestrian ground with a little more ease; 3 Williams’ Golden Retriever, Berrymeade Coeur Blimey at Busheyhall SGWC.

RBOB Stakes

1 Stevenson’s Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway JW, quality male Welsh Springer Spaniel. In super condition with lovely muscle all through the loin and well developed second thighs, appeals in head with lovely kind eye, clean neck into shoulders, very sound & balanced. Moved co-ordinately; 2 Eastwood & Glendinning’s Plaiglen Mangochilli, pretty red Cocker Spaniel bitch, lovely depth of chest & ribbing, correct rear angulation, good rear pasterns & very well presented; 3 Wilson’s Hameldowntor Music Of The Night (Imp), Flatcoated Retriever.
