Livingston Canine Society

Many thanks to the society for asking me along to judge Border Collies and Rough Collies, a well run show with sporting exhibitors. Special thanks to my steward Joanne Goodbrand for all her help on the day.

Rough Collie Graduate (4,0):

1st) Proctor & Forbes’ Opernball at intermittent lake (IMP SVN): Blue Merle, 14-month-old maturing nicely and although not in full coat today, this bitch won her class on her sound movement. A well-balanced head, feminine expression, correct loin, well angulated and moved true. Pushed hard for BOB, just not quite mature enough today. Expertly handled.

2nd) Houlihan's Kourika Frosted Ice: 3yr old Blue Merle, A striking male to look at with lots to like. In full coat, well angulated, firm back with correct loin. Well sprung ribs and a nice deep chest. Would have preferred more reach on the move. Didn’t move with the drive of 1.

Rough Collie Open (2,0):

1st) Leslie’s Eden of Phenomenon At Intermittent Lake (IMP SVN): 4yr old shaded sable, An impressive, well angulated male with a balanced head and striking coat. Good sprung ribs, correct loin, broad shoulders, moved sound and true, the complete picture. Well-handled and presented in excellent condition. BOB

2nd) Babiak’s Erjon Ebony Diamond: 10yr old tri bitch who defies her age! Well balanced head, dark eye, good lay of shoulders and nice topline. Expertly handled Just not so well on the move compared to 1.

Border Collie Graduate (1,0):

1st) Rettie’s Sashdan Diamond Deeva in Glenfound (IMP AUS): 2yr old black and white, stood alone but earned her placing. A pretty bitch, with a kind expression, nice eye, well angulated with a lovely outline. Moved well in all directions. Pushed very hard for BOB.

Border Collie Open (3,1):

1st) Leslie’s Ravenskirk Black Velvet: 1yr old black and white, A pleasing young dog who is bigger than most his age, although not overdone. Presented well groomed, nice chest, good bone, very well angulated, moved effortlessly. BOB

2nd) Rettie’s Bordaquest Blawin A Hoolie With Glenfound: 10yr old black and white, A well angulated, sweet looking male with a mischievous glint in his eye and a lot to like. Nice type, could definitely picture this lovely boy doing a day’s work. A tad excitable on the move at times but when he settled, he moved like a true Border Collie should. Difficult decision between 1st and 2nd.

Many thanks,

Craig Sloan
