Cocker Spaniels

Huge thanks to Lynne Chesterfield and her committee for inviting me to judge Cocker Spaniels, I had such an enjoyable day. And to David Robbins for being a fantastic steward. I was thrilled with the entry of Cockers today, all of which were of good quality and showed well.

Puppy (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st – Bacon’s Timbric Doris Day (BP & PG1)

What a way to start the day! 8-month-old blue roan bitch who owned the ring from the moment she entered. She has the most feminine of heads, with a melting expression. She is balanced throughout, with a short and cobby body. Moved soundly both fore and aft, using her tail well as she went. Certainly one to watch! Delighted to award her Best Puppy in a lovely class, and to see her gain Puppy Group 1 later in the day.

2nd – Chandler’s Time Fly’s

7 month-old dark blue roan bitch, and another who has many lovely attributes. Particularly liked her for her feminine head and expression. A fraction longer cast than 1st, but still well angulated and balanced. She moved very well with the typical merry action of a Cocker. Another I will watch with interest.

3rd - Terry’s Shaggylands Sexy and I No It

Post Graduate (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st – Gladman’s Chativore Violet Sky (BOB)

This 2 year old blue roan bitch caught my eye the moment she came in the ring, she was everything I was looking for today. She presented a well angulated compact outline when stood, scoring particularly in front. She possesses well sprung ribs and good depth of chest, with a short strong loin. She has good bone and lovely tight feet. Her presentation was first class. She really came alive on the move, using her strength to advantage showing great drive. Her ever-wagging tail really helped to win this class. I could not deny her 1st place, and later BOB in the challenge.

2nd – Burton’s Dreamist Glitter Rock

Lovely 2-year-old blue roan bitch, who I liked very much. Another who scored in head, ever-so feminine with a sweet expression. She too is cobby and has a lovely spring of rib. Lovely angulation both front and rear. She moved well round the ring, but I would have preferred more tail action.

3rd – Cox’s Kimapa Kune Kinch

Limit (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st – Macfarlane’s Cooleela As Sweet As You Are

Feminine 21-month-old black bitch. She has a beautiful head with a gentle expression. She presents a square outline whilst stood with moderate angulation both front and rear. Shown in gleaming condition. A positive mover coming and going, and once settled had good tail action.

2nd – Proudler’s Kimapa Kwarta Korki

3-year-old orange roan bitch. Stood, she presents a nice compact outline, with nicely sprung ribs. She is shown in great condition, with lots of strength to help her move round the ring with an ever-wagging tail. Just preferred the front movement of the winner.

Open (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st – Terry’s Shaggylands Desperate Dan

2-year-old dark blue roan dog who exudes masculinity. He scores in head and expression. Lovely reach of neck into well laid-back shoulders. Excellent angulation all round. Well sprung ribs leading to a strong and short loin. Very accurate on the move, with great reach and drive. Presented in great coat and condition. Another who I would’ve preferred more tail action from when powering round the ring to complete the picture. A lovely cocker.

2nd – Palmer’s Cassom Sun Dreaming Over Colmeir

3-year-old orange roan dog who is turned out in lovely coat and condition. He is masculine all through, without anything being overdone. Strong masculine head with a soft expression. Nice balance in body with good ribs, and short loin. He moved soundly round the ring showing good drive. Just preferred front angulation of the winner.

3rd – Kimapa Kocka Kaia
