NORFOLK & NORWICH CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

TUESDAY 11TH APRIL 2023

I would firstly like to thank the hard working committee of Norfolk & Norwich Canine Society for putting on such a well run show and also to my sole hard working Steward, June Rutterford for working so efficiently throughout the day and to all exhibitors for entering and accepting placings graciously, a lovely atmosphere throughout the show.

BEARDED COLLIE

PUPPY No entries

SPECIAL YEARLING 3/1 abs

1st – Richards WILDAN’S DARK SKY AT ELEMARK – 14 month old bitch, very promising with nice head and eye, good neck falling into good shoulders, good length of rib, well proportioned and moved well.

2nd – Bevis BEABEARDIES XTRA SPECIAL – 14 month old bitch who is full of beans, another with a lovely expression and decent head, decent length of body and well proportioned but difficult to assess movement due to being unsettled and moving erratically.

LIMIT 2/1 abs

1st – Bevis BEABEARDIES CINNAMON GIRL – 3 and half year old bitch who has a lovely expression and kind eye, good length of ribbing and depth of chest, lovely angulations fore and aft, moved really well.

OPEN 4/1 abs

1st – Salmon’s POTTERDALE HERITAGE – Beautifully presented 3 year old male oozing quality, excellent head an eye, Lovely deep chest, good length of back with level, firm topline which he held easily on the move, correct angulation front and rear giving lovely forward reach and rear drive on the move, could not be denied BOB and later in the day floated round the ring with drive and minimal effort to easily win PASTORAL GROUP 1.

2nd – Dumbrell BRODATY LIMITED EDITION AT BETHLYNTEE – 3 year old male, good head with lovely eye and excellent shape and outline, moved really well, I just preferred the drive of 1 today. RBOB

3rd – Bevis RAMSGROVE SUNSHINE AT BEABEARDIES

PUPPY 3/2 abs

1st – Jaskolski PIECE OF HAPINESS MICKEY (IMP HUN) – Well presented, very attractive and promising 10 month old puppy dog with excellent substance, masculine head with lovely expression, good length of neck held correctly on the move, has a lovely chest and front angulation, good topline and length, lovely bend of stifle, pushed hard for top honours in breed today but lost out as slightly unsettled on the move in the class and challenge but could not be denied BP and RBOB, pulled it together in the Puppy Group to secure himself PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP 4. One I would like to see showing and moving outside.

Brierley GOYTRE FIRST EDITION P-BEG EX – 8 and a half year old dog with a lovely kind eye, correct head, good dentition, good length of neck into good shoulders, lovely chest, good front and rear angulation, good elbows, lovely bend of stifle and moved well in class and challenge, but unfortunately did not seem so happy in the Group and appeared ‘hunched up’ on the move. BOB

1st McBain LISJOVIA FLAMING DRAMBUIE FOR WILLMAC – A lovely quality young gentleman of 2 years old, wonderful well proportioned head, kind dark eye, lovely lip line, a quality dog that covers the ground well. Although he stood alone today, I was more than happy to award BOB. Thought he would be a contender in the Pastoral Group but he was moving on an angle in comparison to his handler in the bigger ring which did not compliment his movement.

PUPPY – 1/0 abs

1st – Stock SHEMIST SUMMERTIME BLUE’S – Well presented 10 month old blue merle dog of good colour, lovely rounded foreface with good dentition, well proportioned head, would prefer slightly more neck, nice rear angulation, moved well. BP and PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP 3

SPECIAL YEARLING 2/1 abs

1st – Withers STANYDALE SHONA – 13 month old Sable bitch of whom I would prefer more fill of foreface but time is on her side, has a lovely dark eye, with correctly placed and well tipped ears, good overall proportions and nice front and rear angulation, she moved well enough but unfortunately was slightly unsettled by the noisy venue. Promising future.

LIMIT – 7/1 abs

1st – Hull MOHNESEE QUEEN OF DIAMONDS OF LIZMARK – Extremely feminine and pretty clear blue merle bitch of 4 years old, has a lovely correct head with well positioned oblique eye, well placed ears, lovely neck into really good shoulders, correctly proportioned and oozes quality, another that was slightly unsettled today inside the venue but still moved well enough to secure her this good class and RBOB

2nd – Thornley & Withers MITCHFIELDS COVER GIRL AT FELTHORN – 5 year old tri colour bitch of good proportion with a lovely outline and good head but is slightly deeper through than 1 in backskull, moved well.

3rd – Fransham SHELCREST NIGHT SKY

1st – Hull MOHNESEE’S DREAM DATE OF LIZMARK JW – Lovely 5 year old gold sable dog presented to perfection today, loved his lovely correct head and oblique eye shape and size, lovely proportions with nothing overstated just quality. Moved really well. BOB

2nd – Colman-Smith KYLEBURN SIBYLLA AT SHELRIDGE – Pretty 5 year old sable bitch with a quality head and correct eye, good length of neck, well proportioned, lovely length to tail, moved well.

PUPPY - 1/0 abs

1st – Down ELESSAR BLUE DIAMOND – Living up to her name, a beautiful 8 month old clear blue merle bitch cut from the finest it would appear, she has a lovely head and eye, excellent chest and length, held a wonderful level topline both standing and on the move, moved around the ring with head held high as if she owns the world, well, I could have quite happily taken her home, more than happy to award her RBOB, BP and PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP 1, so very well deserved and one to watch for the future.

1st – Down ELESSAR ROYAL DESIGN – 7and half month old puppy bitch with a lovely Foxy head and kind well shaped eye, good bite, good chest, good length of body, moved and stood well. RBOB & BP

1st - Aylott BARWELL BAGER BOY – Dog of 22 months of age, needs to mature more as at present his head looks out of proportion to his body but he has time on his side, was unfortunate that ‘someone’ has chewed his coat on his back which is of decent length, natural bobtail, moved okay.

1st – Down ELESSAR ROYAL CORONET - Very pretty 2 and half year old bitch with buckets of character, has a lovely well proportioned foxy head, lovely expression, well placed ears, good neck, chest and length of body, moved really well. BOB

1st – Elliott, Brown & Godfrey SEZANNE AFIRE LOVE – BELGIAN SHEPHERD DOG (Tervueren) Very attractive and upstanding dog puppy of 11 months, well proportioned, lovely correct head with dark eye that is well set, good ear set and carriage, very promising puppy who moved extremely well, BP and PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP 2

2nd – Tester VIMOS VIKTOR – HUNGARIAN PULI – 8 month old puppy dog, full of character, good domed skull, all in proportion, good bite, moved okay.

3rd – Mann DIXIEROSE THATZ MA GIRL – SAMOYED

1st – Miller MELLOWDEE FANCY NANCY FOR MILLWINKIE – OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG – Lovely 12 and half month old bitch, full of quality, wonderful overall shape, head of correct proportions, good bite and excellent movement, did not hesitate in awarding BEST A.V.N.S.C. and later PASTORAL GROUP 4

2nd – Foreman STORMFIELD AYSA AT MARAZZO – BRIARD – well presented and promising 21 month old bitch, good head with kind eye, good length of neck and body, moved around the ring with ease.

3rd – Fowler & Mancey TOPTUNE TAKE A CHANCE ON ME – BELGIAN SHEPHERD DOG (Groenendael)

1st – Fowler & Mancey TOPTUNE ANGELEYES – BELGIAN SHEPHERD DOG (Groenendael) Superb bitch in fantastic condition with good head, correct eye shape, good length to neck, well proportioned and moved well. RES BEST A.V.N.S.C.

2nd – Pullen A KISS FOR ROSE FOR MEADOWBEARS – OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG – 2 year old bitch, nice shape overall and good head, moved okay.

1st – Hudson WWWTONEON JIVE BUNNY (IMP FRA) – HUNGARIAN PULI – bitch approaching 9 years of age and in excellent condition overall, lovely head, good curls, wonderful temperament and moved well.

1st – Dalby SHERRY AMOUR L’AVOCAT DE LA TOUR AVEC AXERNAMOON (IMP FRA) PICARDY SHEEPDOG – 17 month old bitch who is a lovely example of the breed, aloof today but with a lovely temperament, lovely head and expression with ears bang on top, good length of body, well muscled which showed when she powered round the ring effortlessly. 1st – Elliot, Brown & Godfrey SEZANNE AFIRE LOVE – BELGIAN SHEPHERD DOG (Tervueren) My first place A.V.N.S.C. Puppy, Best A.V.N.S.C. Puppy and eventual Pastoral Puppy Group 2 Winner. Did not disappoint in this class either and won it with ease.

2nd – Tester VILMOS VIKTOR – HUNGARIAN PULI – 2nd in A.V.N.S.C. Puppy

3rd – Clark RIVERSIDE SONG UNBELIEVABLE GUY AT STAVODS (IMP ROM) ROUGH COLLIE

1st – Corben ASTROMELIAS ULISES VIA CAPRIOARA (IMP ESP) – COLLIE (Rough) - Very masculine 5 year old shaded sable rough collie dog, had a lovely head with lovely correct moulding of foreface, correct oblique eye of good colour, good parallel head planes, not deep through in anyway, well set ears, good arch of neck, good length of body and good substance, moved extremely well and at one with his handler.

2nd – Bevis RAMSGROVE SUNSHINE AT BEABEARDIES – BEARDED COLLIE – Very lively 5 year old bitch, decent head and good length of back, moved well.

VETERAN 7/2 abs

1st – Benton CH. BROOKLYNSON JANE RUSSELL OF OAKESTELLE – ROUGH COLLIE – 8 year old sable bitch who belies her age, she has a good rounded foreface, slight stop with correctly placed dark eye, well placed ear, good neck and length of back and tail, outmoved the field to take the class, later was declared Reserve Best Veteran in Show.

2nd – Hinchcliffe PRETTY BEAR ZWEET DREAM AT CROFTDALE (IMP DEU) – BEARDED COLLIE – 8 year old Bearded Collie Dog who maintains a wonderful overall outline both standing and on the move, lovely shape head and good eye, lovely length of neck and excellent mover.

3rd – Hounsell STARDUST GIRL AT CEARTHALL

PASTORAL GROUP

I had a full compliment attend for the Pastoral Group of real quality dogs, when I looked around I was extremely pleased with the dogs that were present. I will say that the dogs in the Pastoral Group today could change places on another day and I wished I could have given more Group Placings.

GROUP 1 – The Bearded Collie, Potterdale Heritage owned by Mr WJ & Mrs JS Salmon, who with the sheer ring presence and drive on the move, could not be denied PASTORAL GROUP 1.

GROUP 2 – The Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), Mistycor Apollo Back to Black for Kalwig (Imp Rus) owned by Miss K Frosdick, another who exudes quality and did not put a foot wrong.

GROUP 3 – The Collie (Smooth), Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle owned by Miss MK Benton, a quality Smooth Collie with lovely expression who strides out really well keeping a lovely level topline.

GROUP 4 - The Old English Sheepdog, Mellowdee Fancy Nancy for Millwinkie owned by Mrs D Miller, another of whom did not put a foot wrong in the Group and could not be denied a placing.

PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP

Again, spoilt for choice with a lovely quality Pastoral Puppy Group.

GROUP 1 – The Welsh Corgi (Cardigan) Elesarr Blue Diamond owned by Miss J Down, of whom I could have quite happily taken home, this 10 month old puppy moved around the Group Ring as if she owned it, so much quality and one to watch.

GROUP 2 – The Belgian Shepherd (Tervueren) Sezanne Afire Love owned by Mrs S Elliott, Miss K Brown and Mr G Godfrey, what a wonderful puppy and moved like a dream.

GROUP 3 – The Shetland Sheepdog Shemist Summertime Blue’s owned by Mrs S Stock, lovely clear blue and moved really well

GROUP 4 – The Border Collie Piece of Hapiness Mickey (Imp Hun) owned by Mr R Jaskolski who is a quality puppy and moved really well.

A.V. GOOD CITIZENS 22/14 abs

1st – Offer CH WOOKYTOP THE VIKING – Lovely example of a Bedlington Terrier, everything about this 3 and half year old dog is quality, moved really well

2nd – Benton CH OAKESTELLE VENUS DE MILO VW ShCEx – Smooth Collie bitch of almost 10 years of age who is the clearest of blue merle and can still outmove younger dogs.

3rd – Downs OPTIMUS MULBERRY Bullmastiff

1st – Bevis BEABEARDIES CINNAMON GIRL – BEARDED COLLIE – 1st also in Bearded Collie Limit Class

2nd – Latheron FYNDER REACHER – SPANIEL (Irish Water) – 2 year old dog who is well in proportion with good bone and substance, moved really well, much to like about him.
