My thanks to the Pointer club for the invitation to judge their open show, a lovely sunny day, but unfortunately the excessive heat did affect the movement of a number of the dogs.  Grateful thanks to my stewards on the day for all their hard work. The hospitality and lunch was excellent.


MINOR PUPPY DOG (2 Entries, 0 Absent)


1st Taylor’s, Hawkfield Wizard

Very promising b/w pup, clean in outline, typical puppy head with dark eyes, good oval bone and arched feet, his depth of chest and development of his fore chest is comparable with his age. oval in bone, sloping shoulders from his muscular neck, balanced for & aft good turn of stifle, moved out well. Best Puppy Dog

2nd License’s, Freebreeze Virtual Reality of Arrowmere

Another promising pup. Not quite the outline of one, one slightly more together at this stage, outline better on the move, than when stacked.

Upstanding youngster, masculine in appearance but nothing overdone, just needs his brisket to drop a little to complete the picture, good width of chest, short coupled, balance fore and aft, moved well.

Pleasing outline, masculine head, dark eye, muscular neck into well laid shoulder, strong in loin, muscular rear with good turn of stifle, just needs to mature and fulfil his promise, moved well

Another youngster who shows promise for his future, balanced fore & aft, deep in chest, but was unsettled today a little finer than one. but when settled moved well

Masculine in head, nicely arched neck, balanced fore & aft, slightly sloping pasterns, good feet presented in fabulous condition.

2nd Mrs. S Weaver’s, Dappleline Chance for Anniezu

Upstanding boy, good work in his masculine head, good neck length and well-placed shoulder, deep in brisket, not quite the balance of one, moved well.

Flowing outline, masculine in head with a kindly dark eye, straight in front, with good depth of brisket, good length in rib, short muscular loin, good width of 1st and 2nd thigh, shown in good hard muscular condition, on the move he drove from the rear covering the ground Best Dog & Reserve Best in Show

2nd Stilgoe’s, Teisgol Love is in The Air

Another nice pointer from this kennel, pleasing in head, good length and strength to his neck, front straight with oval bone, short coupled, good width to his thigh, well letdown hocks, just preferred the movement of one.

Good head with kind eye, compact in outline, deep chest, short coupled moved out well, presented in good condition.

Both boys are a credit to their owners

A difficult class as all the puppies are developing and are at different stages in their development.

Pretty girl, Aristocratic in head, well pronounced occiput nicely balanced in one so young, just needs time to mature into her promise, strode out well with handler using her tail well on the move.   Best Puppy Bitch & Best Puppy in Show

2nd Boulton’s, Codnorhawk Starlight

Liver/white, Well-proportioned head, good ribcage development, good width of well-turned stifle didn’t give of her best on the move.

Definitely fit for function, balanced fore & aft, brisket deep, plenty of heart room pleasing head, lovely firm topline with slight slope, correct in tail set, covered the ground with ease.

Feminine in appearance, not the balance of 1, slightly longer cast than 1, straight in front with good bone, gentle sloping pasterns, good width of thigh, moved ok.

Smaller in frame than 1, feminine in head, good reach of neck, well sprung in body, moved well

Presented a different picture than one, but no less correct, good length of neck, slightly shorter in ribcage than 1, but strong in loin, sloping pasterns and well let down hocks which she used on the move.

My star of the day, the standard asks for a symmetrical, well-built lissome appearance and she had it all. feminine in head, kind in expression, long sloping well laid shoulders, slightly sloping in pastern, well sprung rib, short coupled strong in loin, well-turned stifle, muscular thighs, with well cushioned oval feet, moved with drive and powered round the ring. Best in Show & Best Veteran

2nd Mrs. R Nelis’s, Freebreeze Easy Virtue

Another well-made veteran, feminine in head, slightly narrower in muzzle than one, a little longer cast, but balanced fore & aft, good oval bone straight in front. Would just have liked a little more turn to her stifle, moved out well, presented in excellent condition.
