DARLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. MINIATURE LONG HAIRED DACHSHUNDS 16/9/2023 JUDGE Vivien Phillips

It has been quite a while since I last judged this variety and I was rather concerned about temperaments. So many , specially amongst the younger dogs, were nervous and did not want to stand on the table and their eyes looked fearful as they hunched themselves so that the toplines did not look level. Having said this, I was very pleased with my main winners who I found to be very good examples of the breed. The veterans were all a tad heavy but I was also surprised that there were some puppies that tipped the scales

Veteran Dog (1 Entries) Abs: 0 Broad’s Ch Neertanuaf Sea Magic JW Sh.CM This was a shaded red 12 year old male and credit to his owner as he was in very good condition . Pleasing head and eye. Good keel and front. Tight feet and ribbing goes well back . Good topline and moved extremely well, especially for his age.

Minor Puppy Dog no entries

Puppy Dog (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Phillips’ Summerview Hello Hugo Black and tan with a good head and eye. Sufficient keel, well ribbed with a good topline. Tight feet. Loved his shape and he moved very soundly . Flying his tail a bit, but carried it low enough when he had been moving a few strides. Best Puppy. 2nd: Francis and Kent’s Lokmadi Gabriel At Feebrick This cream youngster has a nice head and eye. Sufficient keel and ribbing. Feet could be tighter. Not as smooth on the move as the winner but held his topline.

Junior Dog. (3 Entries) Abs: 0 Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Maverick. Lovely cream young dog. Liked his type. Good head with super dark eye. 15 months and very sure of himself. Good keel and shoulders, tight feet. Well ribbed with a very good topline and strong hindquarters. Sufficient daylight beneath him. He moved very well just needs to tighten up in elbow coming towards me.2nd: Hall and Borsuk’s Cliffmere Rustler. Black and tan with a nice head and eye.. Sufficient keel . Feet could be tighter.. Ribbing goes back enough and he has a good topline. Moved well.3rd: 2651 Mayson & Nichols Charpurdy's The Baron

Post Graduate Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Broad’s Bronia Wolfgang Puck This red dog is 23 months. I liked his head with a good dark eye. Happy on the table, he has sufficient keel and ribbing goes well back. Held his topline on the move. Tight feet. Moved well. 2nd: Mcsorley’s Barlaine Midnight Charmer

I liked this dog as he entered the ring, Sadly did not really want me to go over him on the table. He had a nice head and sufficient keel. Feet were tight and when he moved his topline did settle. He was a bit nervous which was a shame as he has a nice shape.3rd: Mayson & Nichols’ Charpurdy's The Viscount

Limit Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 0 Brown’s Garbosa I’m a Dandy. I really liked this dog as he entered the ring and he did not disappoint. Chocolate/tan of 17 months. Super head and eye. Good neck and shoulders. Sufficient keel and good ribbing. Tight feet Very good shape and topline. Collect angulation in hindquarters which he used well. Moved very soundly. Must have a bright future.. Res. CC 2nd:Brearley’s Callvin's Dream of Eternity at Xanadax 4 year old cream dog. He has a pleasing head. Sufficient keel and held his topline on the move. Feet were tight enough.3rd: Drady’s Tolberg Black Adder at Indiko

Open Dog OD (5 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Wood’s Ch Wildstar Wrobinson Super dog. He is such a lovely example of the breed and has the real “look at me” attitude. 7 year old red in great condition. Correct all through with a lovely head and expression. Correct shoulders and tight feet. Plenty of keel and long ribcage. Held his topline and used his correctly angulated hindquarters.. Sufficient daylight underneath Moved very well , as he would with that construction. CC his 71st !!! and BOB. Apparently he now equals the breed record. So well deserved.2nd: Hall’s Cliffmere Woodman another red with pleasing head and eye. Narrower throughout than the winner. He is well ribbed with tight feet and good topline.. Moved well . Steady temperament and a pleasing outline. 3rd: Woodvine-Shone’s Hanishan Fire Cracker

Veteran Bitch (3 Entries) Abs: 0 All 3 tipped the scales a little but to be forgiven as they reach middle age 1st: Metcalfe’s Metadale Ariadne Lovely 7 year old shaded red. Sweet head and good eye. Lovely alert expression. Plenty of keel and tight feet. Very strong topline and ribbing. Retained her outline on the move and standing. Best Veteran.2nd: Kerslake’s Devonwood Steps in Time. 7 year old Black /tan with a sweet head..Eyes a tad round. . Good keel, feet and topline.. rather abundant curly coat over hindquarters. She used herself well on the move. 3rd: Mee’s Barlain’s Red Splendour.

Minor Puppy Bitch. (3 Entries) Abs: 0 This class of babies headed by a very pretty 7 month old cream 1st:Pain’s Tolberg Here's To The Future with Ravensbeech. Sweet head and good eye. Lovely neck and shoulders . Sufficient keel and ribs go well back. Tight feet. Good hindquarters. Covered the ground well on the move. 2nd: Rees’ Yumares Zelda May red brindle of 7 months.. This pup was rather nervous on the table so not as easy to assess. Sweet head. Good feet and ribbing.. retained her topline when she moved which improved as she settled. 3rd: Kasprowicz’ Daniello A Perla Di Luna

Puppy Bitch . (4 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Phillips’s Fallingwater Faberge. . 10 month old red puppy with a lovely head and eye.. Very good shoulders and keel. Tight feet. Ribs go well back and she retained her topline on the move. Correct ground clearance. Well angulated hindquarters which she used soundly on the move. 2nd: Pain’s Tolberg Here's To The Future with Ravensbeech my Minor puppy winner.. a bit looser in front and lower to ground than the winner. Today she gave way to maturity.3rd: Dalton’s Zilcan Creme Caramel

Junior Bitch (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: Shutt’s Donnadoon Oh My Diana two nice youngsters. The winner is a chocolate/tan good size with a sweet head . sufficient keel and tight feet . well ribbed. Moved well retaining her outline. 2nd: Woodvine-Shone’s Hanishan Shot in the Dark Black /tan good head , eyes a tad round. She has a good keel and feet..Longer caste than the winner . She moved extremely well using her strong hindquarters

Post Graduate Bitch (3 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: Graham’s Jadag Razzmatazz. This Chocolate/dapple bitch has a pleasing head and eye. Good neck and sufficient keel. Feet tight enough. Well ribbed. Moved the best in the class keeping her topline 2nd McSorley’s Barlaine Golden Honey red bitch , a little nervous. Nice head and keel. well ribbed Moved ok when she settled. 3rd: Hall’s Cliffmere Edith

Limit Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 0 . 1st:Mitchell’s Bronia Day Dreamer This bitch caught my eye as she entered the ring. Cream of 23 months. Super head and eye.. Lovely neck and shoulders. Good keel and ribbing. Correct for size. Tight feet. Moved effortlessly with good ground clearance and strong correctly angulated hindquarters.. CC which I understand was her third.2nd: Wood’s Wildstar Wreeva Another very nice example of the breed. Shaded red . 7 year old. Lovely type with correct shoulders and keel. Tight feet and strong hindquarters.. Did not retain her topline, but she moved very well.3rd: Phillips Fallingwater First Love.

Open Bitch. (3 Entries) Abs: 1 Dare’s Ch Darsoms Zynala Lovely black and tan of 21 months. Good head and eye.. lovely neck and shoulders. Correct for size . Good ground clearance . Tight feet . Moved very soundly retaining her topline. Res CC 2nd: Carey’s Honeysuckle Scent to me via Debbiejay JW shaded cream Sweet head and good eye. Quite fine throughout. Brisket not as far back as I would like. She has a good topline and moved well.
