Bolton & District German Shepherd Dog Club

I Would like to thank the committee of Bolton GSD Club for giving me the opportunity to judge their

Breed Championship Show on 2nd April 2023. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and was so pleased

by the quality of the entries. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries and patience and

my steward Sue McNulty for her help through the day.

All exhibits were of good temperament with correct dentition, but we need to take note of overlong hocks

and the length of tails.

Minor Puppy Dog - 4/2

1st - R & S Etches - ETCHICA OSLO - 8 Mths. Very good overall proportions, Alert and Expressive with

a dark mask, dark eyes and well shaped head. Normal wither, Firm back, Well moulded croup. Very good

forehand and chest development. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind

angulation and straight hocks. Sound both ways. Shows very good co-ordination on the move.

2nd - A. Cave - ABSELA RIVER at CASIANN - 7.5 Mths. Another youngster of very good overall

Proportions. Alert and expressive with a dark mask and dark eyes. Normal wither, Firm back, Slightly

steep but well moulded croup. Slightly steep in upper arm but has good shoulder placement and chest

development. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation and

straight hocks. Sound both ways. Holds his wither on the move but not yet as co-ordinated as 1st place.

Puppy Dog - 4/4

1st - C. Sykes - ZANDAMOR GUSTAVO - 10 Mths. Medium size and strength. A quality youngster of

nice proportions and type. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and dark eyes. Masculine Head. Very

good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length and angle. Very good

front angulation. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind quarters and straight

hocks. Sound both ways. Shows very good balance, reach and drive on the move. Well handled.

Best Puppy Male.

2nd - F. Davies - TONYFRE DARTH VADER - 10 Mths. Medium size and strength of nice type. Alert

and expressive. Dark mask and dark eyes. Masculine Head. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither,

Firm back. Well moulded but slightly steep croup. Very good front angulation. Stands straight in front.

Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation and straight hocks. Sound both ways. Very good

reach but needs a bit more drive from the rear.

3rd - S. Singh - LOTUS GELEZINIS VILKAS - 8 Mths. Upper medium size, medium strength. Alert and

expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Croup of

good length but slightly steep. Good Forehand but stands a little narrow in front. Clean over and underlines.

Very good rear angulation and straight hocks. Sound both ways. Good reach but needs more drive from

the rear.

Junior Dog - 5/4

1st - S & J Hancox - WAKEMATTS KATO - 14 Mths. Over medium size, medium strength. A quality

impressive male with very good pigmentation. Very alert and expressive. Dark eyes. Masculine head. Very

good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Good length, angle and lay of croup. Very good forehand and

shoulder placement. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation and

straight hocks. Sound both ways. Very good balanced movement with very good reach and drive giving an

effortless gait at all speeds. Well handled.

2nd - N. Farley - NIKONIS PEREZ - 15 Mths. Over medium size, medium strength. Another quality

youngster with very good pigmentation. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes.

Masculine head. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither, firm back. Good length and lay of croup.

Very good forehand and shoulder placement. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines.

Very good rear angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Another very good mover with very good

reach and drive at all speeds. Well Handled.

3rd - M.McAteer and A. Johnstone - XANO V KLOSTERGARTEN - 14 Mths. Over medium size, medium

strength. Another very nice male. Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear

carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Slightly steep in croup but of good length. Very good front angulation.

Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both

Ways. Very good reach but needs a bit more drive.

Special Long Coat Junior Dog - 1/1

1st - G. Semens - SOLDATIN CARLOS - 16 Mths. Medium size and strength. Alert and expressive. Dark

eyes. Masculine head. Would prefer a closer ear set. Normal wither, Firm back. Croup is of good length and

angle. Good forehand and stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines.Very good hind quarters. Straight

hocks. Sound both ways. Very good side gait and balance on the move.

Yearling Dog - 3/2

1st - M. Lakin - BLERIO BEZIQUE at MASCANI - 17 Mths. Over medium size, medium strength. A quality

well pigmented male with very good proportions. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine

head, Very good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Well angled croup of good length. Very good

Forehand and shoulder placement with very good width of chest. Stands straight in front. Clean over and

underlines. Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Effortless movement showing very

good reach and powerful drive. One to watch for the future.

2nd - S & J Bracher - BLERIO ANUBIS - 19 Mths. Large male, medium strength. Alert and expressive. Dark

mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Croup of good length but

slightly steep. Very good forehand and chest proportions. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines.

Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Very good side gait with very good reach

and drive.

1st - J. Redhead - TRIMIKA’S HELSINKI - 25 Mths. Large male, medium strength. Nice type with very good

overall proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear carriage. Good

length of neck. High Wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length and angle. Very good front

angulation and width of chest. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good rear angulation

and straight hocks. Sound both ways. Very fluent mover showing very good reach and drive at all speeds.

2nd - R. Mooney - DRAYCORE KENNETH - 22 Mths. Upper medium size and strength. Another lovely male

with very good overall proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear

carriage. Good length of neck. Normal wither, Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length. Very good

front angulation. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good rear angulation. Straight hocks.

3rd - M & P Rutkowska - GERALD SFORA KWASNIEWSKIEGO - 3 Yrs. Upper Medium size and strength.

Alert and expressive. Masculine head. Good ear carriage. Normal wither. Firm back. Croup of good length but

slightly steep. Good forehand and width of chest. Stands straight in front. Very good hind angulation. Straight

hocks. Sound both ways. Holds his wither on the move but would prefer to see more rear drive.

Limit Dog - 6/4

1st - L. Hannan - DORSEY OF JONIMAY - 3 Yrs. Large male of very good overall proportions and very

good pigmentation.  Another quality Male. Very Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head.

Defined stop. Very good ear carriage. Very good length of neck. High wither into firm back. Croup of correct

length and angle. He has a very good forehand and shoulder placement with very good chest proportions.  

Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Excellent muscular hind angulation. Straight hocks.

Sound both boys. He shows a very good ground covering gait and holds his wither at all speeds. Another

one to keep an eye on. Pleased to award him the RDCC.

2nd - P. Williams & C. Starkey - WAKEMATT MORTY at STARKWILL - 3.5Yrs. Upper medium size

and strength. Another well pigmented quality Male of very good overall proportions. Very alert and expressive.

Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Defined stop. Very good ear carriage. Good length of neck. Normal

wither. Firm back. Well mounded croup of good length. Very good Forehand. Very good width of chest.

Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both

ways. Another that excels in movement maintaining his wither at all speeds.

3rd - J. Summerhill - VESCO VOM RADHAUS - 3Yrs. Upper medium size and strength. Another quality

well pigmented Male of correct proportions. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head.

Defined stop. Very good ear carriage. Good length of neck. Normal wither. Firm back. Well mounded croup

of good length and angle. Very good forehand. Very good width of chest. Stands straight in front. Clean over

and underlines. Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Originally pulled out 2nd,

he showed very good reach but lacked drive today.  A Trio of super Males.

Open Dog - 3/2

1st - R.Rambridge & K. Sygrove - TRAMELLA UBAK - 4.5Yrs. Upper medium size and strength. Impressive

anatomically correct well pigmented Male of excellent overall type and proportions. Very alert and expressive.

Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head with a defined stop. Very good ear carriage. Very good length of neck.

Normal wither. Firm Back. Well moulded croup of correct length and angle. He has an excellent forehand of

correct angle and length of upper arm. Very good width of chest. Stands straight in front. Clean over and

underlines. Well muscled excellent hind quarters. Straight hocks. He has an effortless co-ordinated ground

covering side gait showing balance at all speeds. A picture in stance. I had no hesitation in awarding him the

DCC and BOB. Well Handled.

2nd - K. Ranshaw & L. Askham - SYLCARRS SABRE at REYAKOSA - 7.5 Yrs. Large well pigmented male

of very good Proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear carriage.

Normal wither . Firm back. Croup of good length but slightly steep. Very good front angulation. Stands

slightly narrow but straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Well muscled hind quarters. Straight hocks.

Sound both ways. Very good side gait with reach and drive.

Special Long Coat Dog - 4/4

1st - D. Marshall & P. Ingham - PALUKA VALCO - 3 Yrs. Upper medium size and strength. A quality male

with rich colour, excellent pigmentation and very good overall proportions. Very alert and expressive. Dark

mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of

good length. Very good front angulation. Stands slightly narrow but straight in front. Clean over and underlines.

Well muscled and angled hind quarters. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. He has a free flowing side gait

with very good reach and drive holding his wither at all speeds.

2nd - S. Cartwright - PENDLEDENE RENO at REDWOODLANDS - 2.5 Yrs. Upper medium size and

Strength. Another lovely male with very good pigmentation and very good proportions.  Alert and expressive.

Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither. Firm back. Croup is of good

length and angle. Very good front angulation. Stands slightly narrow but straight in front. Clean over and

underlines. Well muscled rear quarters. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Another very good mover but

not as free flowing as the 1st place dog today.

3rd - L. Towning - ZANDAMOR DAX - 5 Yrs. Upper medium size and strength. Another very nice male of

very good overall proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Masculine head. Very good ear

carriage. Normal wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length. Very good front angulation.

Stands slightly narrow but straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Well muscled hind quarters.

Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Another good mover but lacked drive when needed today.

Veteran Dog - 2/2

on the move but lacked  drive today.

stride with very good balance and co-ordination. Was pleased to award her BPB and BPIB.

youngster of very good overall proportions. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Feminine.

angulation. Stands straight in front. Wavy coat detracts from her otherwise nice overline. Clean underline.

Very good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. She has very good movement showing reach

3rd - J. Turner - IMPRANAH KYOGO - 6 Mths. Medium size and strength with very good body proportions.

Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. A very feminine pretty baby. Very good ear carriage. Normal

wither. Good firm back for one so young. Good length of croup. Very nice front angulation. Stands straight

in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good rear angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. What a

very promising beautiful baby who was giving far too much away in this class, certainly one to watch as

she matures.

Yearling Bitch 4/4

hocks. Sound both ways. She has very good reach and drive which shows in her deportment in all phases of

movement.

2nd - J & H Pegg - DAHLMANN ULLA - 23 Mths. Upper medium size and strength. Another quality rich

pigmented female with very good overall proportions. Very alert and expressive. Dark mask and eyes. Feminine.

Very good ear carriage. Normal wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length and angle. Very good

forehand. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good rear angulation. Straight hocks.

Sound both ways. Originally had this girl in 1st place but her performance let her down today.

3rd - C McGrath & D. Boyd - MASCANI DENVA - 22 Mths. Upper medium size and strength of very good

overall proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark eyes. Feminine. Very good ear carriage. Normal wither. Firm

back. Croup of good length. Very good front angulation. Stands slightly narrow but straight in front. Clean

wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length and angle. Excellent front angulation and shoulder

placement. Stands straight in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good well muscled hind quarters. Straight

hocks. Sound both ways. This female also has an excellent side gait with plenty of forward reach and drive

at all speeds. Would love to see her when she is in coat.

3rd - H. DeZutter - LANGFAULDS ADELE - 3.5 Yrs. Upper medium size and strength. Another really nice

quality female of correct proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark eyes. Feminine. Defined stop. Very good

ear carriage. Very good length of neck. Normal wither. Firm back. Well moulded croup of good length.

Very good front angulation. Stands correct in front. Clean over and underlines. Very good hind angulation.

3rd - E & S. Wilson - IOLANDA ZARA TARA - 3 Yrs. Upper medium size and strength with good

proportions. Alert and expressive. Dark eyes. Feminine. Good ear carriage. Normal wither, Firm back. Good

length and lay of croup. Very good front angulation. Stands a little close in front. Clean over and underlines.

Good hind angulation. Straight hocks. Sound both ways. Shows good reach and drive holding wither in all

phases of movement.

Veteran Bitch - 2/2
