Toy Group - Veteran

The shortlist comprised - CKCS, Chihuahua (L/C), Coton De Tulear, Italian Greyhound Lowchen Maltese and Miniature Pinscher.

1st : Sangster’s Ch Tidos Charlie He's My Darling At Kirlasidh JW - Chihuahua (Long Coat) – Dog. Super for shape and size. Beautifully constructed. Accurate and confident mover (if not somewhat bolshy with it!!). In super coat and condition.

2nd : Stracey’s Ch Krieger's Bubble Butt JW - Miniature Pinscher – Bitch. Beautifully proportioned. Looks super on the move. Great outline and presented in superb condition.

3rd : Amsel’s Ch Artmeis Golden Oriole Of Regallust - Italian Greyhound – Bitch. A true Italian Greyhound of beautiful size and proportions. Accurate and sound mover demonstrating the correct forehand reach required. Super coat and condition.

4th : Richardson’s Ch Am Ch Hollinsclose's The Gambler (Re-Imp) - Löwchen (Little Lion Dog) – Dog. Masculine but not overdone. Super head. Presents such a typical outline of the breeds on the stand. Correct for bone and substance. Moved really well.

Utility Group - Veteran

Shortlisted group included – Boston T, French Bulldog, German Spitz Klein, Keeshond, Lhasa Apso, Schipperke and Schnauzer.

1st : Cooper & O'Brien’s Susu Princess Spice Parti JW - Tibetan Spaniel – Bitch. She entered the ring as though she owned it! Balanced in outline and of correct proportions. Well laid shoulders produces an easy forehand. Secure topline, high set plumed tail. Coat of a very attractive colour combination. I was surprised to see she had not, as yet, attained her champion status.

2nd : Millar’s Ch Abylity Nina's Celtic Queen of Turnlaw (Imp) Schipperke – Bitch. Just gorgeous for type. Super coat and condition. Head with typical expression. Steady accurate mover.

3rd : Torrance’s Ch Sinyul Let There Be Love - Lhasa Apso – Bitch. Lovely for type. Correctly sized head containing a super expression. Well bodied. Level topline, correct high set tail. Moved effortlessly.

4th : Pearce & Francis’s Ch Longsdale's Dilemma - German Spitz (Klein) – Bitch. Always gives her best and a bitch I have judged before and admired. Completed a quartet of top quality Veterans and once again gave a superb performance in a hotly contested Group.

Eukanuba Puppy Stakes

PD/B Terrier/Utility (61 Entries) Abs: 41

1st: Robb’s Gleniren Oops I Did It Again Sunshoo. Papillon. Stunning for type and overall balance. An ultra feminine girl and a true butterfly. Presents an outstanding profile when standing. Day 1 Winner.

2nd: Rooney’s, Copymear Reign On My Parade with Yorone, Chihuahua (L/C). Another gorgeous example of the breed. Feminine but with ample bone and substance all beautifully in proportion. Super mover. Close call between two future champions.

3rd: Donaldson’s Zorbaloo Don Julio

SKC Open Stakes (24 Entries) Abs: 15

1st: Philip & Dunnachie’s Ch Dvojica Enrique, Dalmatian. Produced a stunning performance when moving. This beautifully proportioned male is a superb showman and was presented in tip top condition.

2nd: Todd’s Witchgait Toasted Cheese. 12 months old Shar Pei. Really impressive youngster. Super for head, balance and skin. Excellent mouth and colour. Moved superbly.

3rd: Harris’s Ch Kichigai Boy Is Back In Town For Watchkees JW, Keeshond.

1st: Cawthera-Purdy’s – Pomeranians. Super group. Impressive heads giving typical expression. Superb quality throughout. Excellent textured coats. True and accurate movers.

2nd: Amsel’s - Italian Greyhounds. Ideal for size, shape and balance. Uniform in movement demonstrating correct forehand reach and strong rear drive. Super skin and condition. Close call.

3rd: Scott’s - Coton de Tulears

(Utility) (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Smiths - Tibetan Spaniels. Lead by a glorious example of the breed. Moved well together. Loved the overall shape, size and expression of their heads.

2nd: Wood’s - Min Schnauzers. Collected on the move. Well textured coats and moved soundly in all directions.

3rd: McDonald’s - Tibetan Spaniels

An excellent class.

1st: Westerman’s Charpin Ottomatic JW. Miniature Pinscher. Both handler and dog are at one and present a superb partnership. Smart young dog who is impressive. He was sympathetically handled when he became unsettled. Champion quality.

2nd: Rutherford’s Potbelli Limited Edition JW. Pug. Another superb handler for this nicely proportioned young dog. Impressive head, super short coat and well bodied. Moved very well.

3rd: Mason’s Crownlake's Denis The Menace

1st: Jones’s Rossvale Beautiful Dreamer at Carlita. 14 months old Shih Tzu, Bitch. Very impressive to examine. Super for head, neck and shoulders. Moved impressively and handled to perfection.

2nd: Marshall’s Charney Morning Song For Shandalar, 13 months. Japanese Spitz. 13 months. Attractive, proportioned feminine head. Great coat and pigmentation to compliment. Super on the move. Presented in fabulous condition. Must have a bright future. Close call.

1st: Johnstone’s - Tibetan Spaniels. Bitch and Dog of similar size and outline. Moved well together. Super coats and excellent condition. Both so happy!

2nd: Holyland’s - Russian Toys. Both of a lovely size and look very smart when going around the ring. Striking colour which added to the attraction.

3rd: Gregory’s – Keeshonds

2nd: Lund’s Yakee The Sun God With Magnetizzam. Lovely to examine. Well boned and balanced. Super head with great nostrils. Beautiful eyes. Moved effortlessly.

1st: Pellows’s Mr K Rosanyos Sevillana JW, French Bulldog. A very attractive dog. Super head and well balanced. Throughout he moved so well. Lovely disposition.

2nd: Taylor’s Capriccio at Kanetayl. Papillon. 4 year old Dog. Lovely temperament. Well-presented coat. Moved well in profile using his large mobile ears to great effect.

3rd: Dunford’s MILLHANGER VICTORIA PLUMB

JHA Junior Handling 6 – 11 years

1st: Layla Duncan. The youngest in the class, (handling a Tibetan Spaniel) and clearly she is a star in the making. Completed all tasks with accuracy and confidence. Attentive to the judge’s instructions at all times.

2nd: Chloe Black. Handled a Papillon to advantage. Just missed one side of the reverse triangle but completed all tasks confidently.

3rd: Rhys Duncan

JHA Junior Handling 12 – 16 years

1st: Alexis Kirkwood-Emery, handling a Tibetan Terrier. Having been requested to complete exercises which clearly required concentration, Alexis was outstanding in all of them. A sympathetic and component handler. Gave an excellent reverse triangle.

2nd: Gemma Mackenzie, handling a German Spitz (Mittal). Very close up on Alexis and pushed hard all the way. Similar comments apply.

3rd: Megan Chapman

1st: Wright’s Warrsan Rebel Jones. 10 months old smooth Dog. Nicely proportioned, held a secure level topline. OK for neck. Excellent rear. To develop a touch in chest. Super coat. Moved well.

2nd: Lovell’s Russiandream Frodo Strudel. 10 months (L/C) B/T Dog. Different in type to 1 but conforms to the breed standard. Super for head and expression. Beautiful eyes. Movement will settle with age. Not yet as mature as 1 but a close call.

Class 370 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Lovell’s Russiandream Frodo Strudel. 2nd in PD. Gained confidence in the class.

2nd: Wright’s Warrsan Marvel Wolf. Well bodied. Super quality smooth coat and in good condition. Impressive head containing correctly shaped attractive eyes. Excellent mouth. Preferred the movement of 1.

PGD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Lynch’s Italianskiy Macho Dlya Cherny Brilliant At Garnox. Lots to like about this 2 year old. Nicely put together and has a super body. Head is well proportioned. OK for neck. Moved extremely well. RBD

2nd: Orchard’s Manatek Cushti Rye. 2 years old. Balanced head containing appealing eyes. Well bodied; holds a secure topline. Has equal merit to 1 but not quite as clean in forehand today when coming back to me. Close call.

OD (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Orchard & Holyland’s Fr Ch NEBESNYI KOLORIT SUPERMEN (IMP UKR). 3 years old Blue and Tan which I found very attractive and perfectly within the standard (Colour specified). I felt he was extremely well put together both in forequarters and rear angulations. Super neck and lay of shoulders. He produces impressive movement and is particularly smart in profile. Being predominantly smooth coated he has nothing to hide and thought him worth of BOB over a number of glamorous coated exhibits. BD & Best Toy Import.

2nd: Orchard & Holyland’s Int Ch Fr Ch Bel Ch Lux Ch NL Ch Fiesta Show Russi. I can appreciate why so many have awarded this dog frequent honours. He has a super head and the glamour to boot. Mature at 5 years he moves so well. Beautiful temperament. In a the final decision, I preferred the forehand reach and length of neck over 1 but simply splitting hairs.

3rd: Leach’s Kinas Budda Edison At Moyadacha

Quite a challenging class with 5 forward, each at various stages of development.

1st: Lynch’s Cherny Brilliant Queen at Garnox (TAF, NAF). 11 months and had the edge on maturity here. Lovely overall size and balance so is impressive when standing. Super for body. Attractive head containing appealing eyes. Good for rear; front to settle. Very promising. BPB & BPIB.

2nd: Holyland’s Ollarena Wizadora. Petite and has a truly feminine head giving a lovely expression. Super neck and body. At 9 months is not as forward as 1 in development. A lot to like.

3rd: Holyland’s Ollarena's Yasnaja

JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Holyland’s Ollarena Velikaya. 1 year old. She produces an attractive outline and is of a lovely size. Feminine head which is well finished. Lovely eyes. She is well bodied. She was not easy to assess but when moving I saw glimpses of accurate movement. Clearly needs time.

PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Leach’s Moyadacha Good Golly. Lots to like here in respect to overall proportions and balance. She is very eye catching when standing. Super for head. Has the best of neck and shoulders with sufficient chest. Her well-constructed hindquarters produce strong rear drive which is complimented by a fair forehand reach. In great condition. BB.

2nd: Leach’s Moyadacha Golly Gosh. Litter sister to 1 and so naturally has many similarities. Not quite the neck and shoulders of 1 but close up in respect in breed attributes.

3rd: Lynch’s Moyadacha My Girl At Garnox

OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Holyland’s Ollarena Kleopatra. 4 years, mature and well put together. Whilst I found a number lacked depth of chest, she excels here. Good for neck and shoulders. Perhaps a touch light in body weight. Steady, accurate mover particularly in front which gave her the edge over 2. RBB.

2nd: 717 LEACH, Ms K Stempfort Galaxy at Moyadacha. Attractive B/T and lovely for head qualities. OK neck. Super ribbing and depth to body. Super, well-furnished mobile ears used to advantage. Moved lightly. Good temperament.

2nd: McQuade’s Xolomania Faina Azeroth (Imp Rus), Xoloitzcuintle. Well grown 2 year old. Feminine head. Another with lots of breed attributes and particularly her angulations which, alike 1, produced steady, accurate movement in all directions. Excellent skin. Close up on 1.

3rd: Rymer’s Rollenwood Runa

1st: Spry’s Roltamshe Skye, Xoloitzcuintle. Head contained lovely almond eyes with correct planes and tight lips to finish. Good for neck strength and length above well laid shoulders. Good ribcage. Moved with style and precision whilst maintaining a secure backline. BB

2nd: Cunningham’s Yulyeong Legend Of Zelda Ir Jun Ch. Korean Jingo, 2 years old. Well proportioned throughout. Agile on the move with an excellent forehand. Just needs to strengthen a touch behind. Super coat and condition.

The short list comprised. English Setter, Gordon Setter, Hungarian Vizsla, Irish Setter, Retriever (Flat Coat), Spaniel (American Cocker) and Weimaraner,

1st :Clubb, Mason & Findlay’s Sh Ch Oroshaza Chukar Hungarian Vizsla – Presents a stunning profile. Super colour. Proud, noble head giving typical expression, strong neck leading to well laid shoulders. Of balanced bone, well ribbed with correct length of loin. Strong, muscular hindquarters which effortlessly powered him round the ring. He won a quality Veteran Hound Group, returning to the BIS ring to give a stunning performance to the appreciation of the ringside. Best Veteran In show

2nd : McClaine & Dickson’s, Greyspirit Purdue JW Sh.CM ShCEx - Weimaraner – Bitch. Attractive feminine head of good proportions. Lengthy neck set above well laid shoulders. Balanced body with level topline which she held on the move. Super rear angulations. In A1 condition.

3rd :Blain’s Sh Ch Caci's Just A Gigolo At Steelriver (IMP SWE) - Retriever (Flat Coated) – Dog. Masculine head, not overdone and sporting dark eyes well set. Neat correctly placed ears. Good for body, and balanced bone. Tight feet. He excels in front and rear construction. Moved effortlessly.

4th :Donaldson’s Ir Sh Ch Silveross Van Halen Sings Cherdon Sh.CM - Spaniel (American Cocker) – Dog. He is beautifully presented and in fabulous condition. Compact and sturdy in body. On the move he is extremely sound and balanced and moved effortlessly around the ring.

Hound Group – Veteran

The Shortlist Comprised – Afghan, Beagle, Dachshund (Min S/H) and Rhodesian Ridgeback

1st : James’s Ch Gilari Vermillion Venus JW - Afghan Hound – Bitch. Correct head proportions, super dark eye, lengthy neck into well laid shoulders, great chest. Correct fallaway and tail set. Moved superbly.

2nd :Blackburn-Bennett’s Ch Stargang Cherry Berry - Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) – Bitch with a quality head. Elegant and feminine yet workmanlike. Super neck, forequarters and flowing lines. Correct length upper arm, plenty of forechest, stylish accurate mover.

3rd :Raymond’s Ch & Vdh Ch Dialynne Peter Piper - Beagle – Dog. Still as smart as ever, he is full of type and totally balanced. Appealing head. Shown in superb condition and handled to perfection.

4th :Hodge’s Ch Colkeririn Face To The Sun JW Sh.Cm - Rhodesian Ridgeback – Bitch. Top quality and of great overall quality, soundly made throughout, excellent head and expression, sound legs and feet, very good ridge. Moved superbly as one would expect from her super construction.

Eukanuba Puppy Stakes

PD/B Gundog or Hound (76 Entries) Abs: 31

1st: Criag’s Annavah Belinda of Davricard, Beagle. My notes say ‘just super’. This 11 month old dog is of a lovely size. Totally unexaggerated and screams breed type. Fabulous head, lengthy neck and well-constructed forequarters. Deep chest; well sprung ribs. Maintains a secure topline. Well bent stifles and low set hocks. Moved superbly. Overall winner.

2nd: Mitchell’s Bronia Maverick, Dachshund (Mini L/H). Another stunning youngster. 11 months old. Lovely size. Presented in first class order. Excellent reach of neck, length of upper arm, tight-fitting elbows, and layback of shoulder. He is well bodied with great length of ribs. Without exaggeration, moves with drive and accompanying forehand reach.

3rd: Coxon’s D'Arisca Dinner At Eight

Gundog (7 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Chandler’s – WSS. A uniform group, demonstrating fit for purpose and active movement.

2nd: Leamy’s - Italian Spinone. Small group of robust conformation and a lot to like. Moved well on the go around but not quite as precise as 1 when coming and going.

3rd: Watts - Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Hound (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Parsons - Rhodesian Ridgeback. Really super group. Strong and muscular but not overdone. Purposeful on the move and looked impressive when standing.

2nd: Foote & McAulay’s – BGVP. Close up on 1. Like the activeness on the move. Appealing for heads and overall conformation.

3rd: Cumberland’s - M/S/H Dachshunds

1st: Hunter’s Quicksilver Adrenaline Rush at Reefcrest (IMP USA). 2 years old. Weimaraner bitch. Impressive in profile and did not disappoint when moving. Well balanced throughout and presented in first class condition.

2nd: Elliot’s Aldom Dark N'Stormy, Hungarian Vizsla Dog. 6 years and still moves like a youngster. Impressive forehand reach. Noble head, giving lovely expression. Good shoulders. Well-muscled body.

3rd: Watson’s Sh Ch Bordacity Honey Ryder

1st:Nugent’s Ir Sh Ch Callanbanks Dervlas Dream. 2 year old Weimaraner Bitch. Pleasing head containing lovely eyes. Well set ears. Clean neck, deep in chest and good for body. Moved superbly.

2nd: Storey & Dyer’s Kimifleur Gold Standard. Pointer Bitch. 2 years and still has some developing to do. Another one whose movement was superb.

3rd: McDonald’s Donurie's Hercules

1st:Darling Steele’s Sonstraal Walking Sunshine With Sharufa, 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Bitch, 3 years. Strong and muscular but still maintaining femininity. Produced a balance outline when standing. On the move she was accurate both coming and going.

2nd:Mason’s Teckeltown Something Magic JW. 4 years old. Dachshund Bitch (Mini S/H) Well-shaped head and dark eyes of correct size and shape. Good for length of neck, Nicely constructed forequarters. Moved superbly. Close call.

3rd: Mallison’s EDENWHIP VERA

1st: Whiteside’s - Rhodesian Ridgebacks. All were balanced and symmetrical in outline. A quality pair, combining strength and dignity. Moved really well.

2nd: Watts - Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. When moving these were impressive individually and moved superbly together. Strong and active with correct coats. Lovely temperaments.

3rd: Bartley’s – BSVP

1st: Hall’s Msingi All About Me Of Cynami JW. Rhodesian Ridgeback Bitch 4 years. Medium sized with good breed type. Firm, balanced body with level backline. Super condition. Moved well.

2nd:Searl & Rawlinson’s Reffton Tibalt at Whipsearle JW (IMP ESP). Whippet Dog, 13 months. Well put together and of a fair size. Produced a lovely profile when standing. Just flattened on the move which just made the difference between the placings.

3rd: Wiszniewska’s BRAVEHEART Duma Kazana

1st: McMahon’s Ir Sh Ch Silverkelvin Jupiter over Magdala. 5 years old. Weimaraner Dog. Head of correct proportions. Good bone and substance with correct length to height ratio. Clean neck and good length of back. Well-muscled. Covered the ground with ease.

2nd: Dean’s Gempeni Cornflower. Beagle Bitch. Lovely size. Attractive head. Good for neck, body and topline. Moved very well. Close up on 1.

3rd: Underdown’s KENXTWEN CHOCOLATE CHIP AT BARATJA

6-11years (8 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Layla Duncan. The winner of this category in the Toy/Utility JHA. Equally as competent today and produced excellent handing, despite handling a much bigger dog.

2nd: Rhys Duncan. Brother to the winner. Handled a rather challenging dog but managed calmly and managed extremely well/ Produced cleaner and precise triangles than the day previous.

3rd: Delphine Storey

12-16 (16 Entries) Abs: 4

1st: Anya Tyson, Handling a Whippet. Precise and accurate in all directions. Attentive to instruction. Produced seamless moves, particularly in reverse triangles.

2nd: Leonie Elliot. Handling a Golden Retriever. At one with her dog. Excellent work both during examination of the dog and when on the floor. Attentive and responsive to judges position in the ring.

3rd: Gemma Mackenzie

1st: Middleton’s Schumann des Vallees longeronnaises Avec Caelestib. Basset Blue De Gascogne. 22 months. Good wedge shaped head, good length to neck, long back well ribbed. Moved very well. BD

1st:Webster’s OPUS D'AMBRE DE CHASSAGNE AVEC DALMARNO (IMP FRA), Basset Blue De Gascogne 4 years. I liked his head and well placed ears. Strong jaws. Level back. Moved steadily. OK behind. RBD.

PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Webster’s DALMARNO DEBONAYRE. Basset Blue De Gascogne. Just 8 months old and promising. Appealing, balanced head. Deep chest and well ribbed. Preferred his leg length. Topline was initially unsettled but then he came into his own and relaxed it perfectly. RBB & BPB.

2nd: 3851 MIDDLETON, Mr Christopher The Dottie Line Deus Ar Maen Glas Avec Caelestible. Basset Blue De Gascogne. Another youngster 11 months old. Somewhat taller on the leg than 1. Body is well ribbed. Secure topline. Excellent rear angulations. Good neck. Forelegs well boned and half crooked (as permissible in the standard).
