Driffield Championship Dog Show
Breed: English Setter
Thank you to Driffield Society for asking me to judge English Setters at your Ch Show , the ring was of good size for athletic dogs to move and my stewards kept things flowing .
I was slightly disappointed in movement today , the rear movement was not as strong and true as I would expect from a gundog , there really is no excuse for dogs with soft musculature , unfortunately I did find a few bites that were not correct and teeth too small . All dogs were presented very well and temperaments were good.

1st: COLTON, Mrs P M Ennydloc Bells and Whistles
Typical puppy , really didn’t want to stand still or put more than two strides together but what I could see was a nice puppy with good bone and substance ,well made front , longish neck sitting well into withers and a handsome head.
He had a lovely day out.
2nd: ROBSON, Miss Olivia & MADDISON, Mr Graham Ennydloc Yorkshire Lord
Litter brother who is also well made not quite as forward at the moment but he has time and shows promise. He was presented in nice coat and looked a happy puppy with a handsome head and sweet expression.

Orange Belton , very mature in body and coat , has a masculine head of good shape , kind eye , ample forechest and good layback of shoulder ,needs to drop into rear quarters and then hopefully his movement will strength and come together as he moved quite wide behind today.

1st: SNOOK, Mrs M A Moorbrook Mogul of Marc
A boy who I watched in the ring and was pleased to judge him today , he is well made , nothing overdone in angulations , has a corresponding front and rear. Head of good type , kind expression . Still needs to finish in body and tighten in elbows but he is very correct in his movement, showing reach and drive. Presented in good coat.
2nd: CARR, Mr Andrew & CARR, Mrs Lesley BALVENIE BLUE LAGOON
Thought he would be my winner today but unfortunately not.
He is nice to look at stacked , elegant in outline , long neck , good shoulders and well angled rear quarters . Moved steadily around the ring. Shown in good coat.

1st: LAWSON, Mrs L A Wansleydale Dorian Gray JW ShCEx OSW,
Mature boy, not dripping in coat but nothing to hide. Shown in good muscular condition. Head a tad plush for my preference but dark eye and kind expression. Well-made front , with correct layback of shoulder , good width to second thigh. Powerful stride in profile and true in movement. He was my BD today .
Handler does need to be careful as he twice got loose and jumped on the best bitch, luckily, she couldn’t care less but still not ideal.
2nd: SNOOK, Mrs M A Dalreavoch Northern Caper
Close up to first , preferred this boy's head, excellent front and good forechest .
Well ribbed back and short and strong in loin . Rear quarters moderately angled , tail set and croup correct, just wasn’t showing drive and covering the ground on the move today. RBD

Lovely young bitch, good outline stacked , longish neck, well put together front.
She has the prettiest of heads. Keeps her topline on the move, just needs to push from her rear to complete the picture. Shown in lovely silky coat and never stopped wagging her tail.

Not a new bitch to me but the best I have seen her show and her handler was so gentle with her , she let her bitch perform and I was very impressed. She is one of those dogs you have to put your hands on her to appreciate her qualities. Prettiest of heads with kind expression , she has such a balanced outline, her front and rear quarters have equal angles and not overdone , she could maybe have a better spring of ribs but she is still young . Movement was not flashy but she was so correct and true .With lashing tail , Shown in good muscular condition and silky coat. Delighted to award her BB & BOB .

Blue Belton only 20 months presents a lovely outline stood , correct front angulations , adequate rear angulation , hocks well let down , darkest eyes with a pretty expression. On the move she tends to drop her topline a tad but is true and correct in her movement with a lashing tail action.
2nd: KEMP-TAYLOR, Mrs Helen Quensha's Strawberry Swing
One of the best heads today , what a pretty , inquisitive expression, lovely front on this bitch neck into shoulders just flowed .on the move she is very active and true in her stride , her handler is aware that if she could get her to settle with her tail , she would be up there in the higher placings.

She has good shoulder placement and correct upper arm , well let down hocks and tidy feet. Shown in lovely condition with a silky coat .
Unfortunately she was not happy on the grass today and she couldn’t show off her movement. RBB
