Crufts

Breed: Tibetan Terrier

I would like to thank the Crufts committee for the honour of being invited to judge my breed at the show, and also the exhibitors for a lovely entry. Thank you also to my efficient stewards Preston Haffenden & ex-pat Gordon Hayburn who kept the busy ring moving throughout the day. As judges, we all have different priorities when assessing a breed. I like Tibetan Terriers to be breed typical and stylish, but not exaggerated in any way. I also like to see good front & rear construction so that when moved at the correct pace, they have freedom of movement in both their forward reach and rear drive. This is why I would not allow exhibitors to move at the excessive speed that some would have liked. There were many exhibits that I liked very much, but who were further down the placings or in some classes not placed, only due to the fact that there were others I preferred. I was surprised to find so many level bites, and also short rib cages with longer loins in square exhibits. There were also several very oversized dogs & bitches.

VETERAN DOG (10/8)

This high quality class showed how well our Veterans can hold their own against the younger dogs.

Correct shape & size, beautiful head & expression. Correct bite. Correct feet, good tail set. Well constructed front & rear with free moving action. Had strong competition from 2nd place in class but I just preferred his overall balance on the move. Best Veteran and strong contender for RCC

3. Knight’s WATERLEY PART PRINCESS

JUNIOR BITCH (24/23)

The most challenging class of the day with several bitches that I liked going out or taking lower placings than I would have wished. I liked all of my placed bitches and they could have easily changed places. All were correct shape & size. All had good heads, correct feet, good tail sets. All were in good coat for their age and were well presented. I had others who were unplaced that I also liked, but were up against strong competition on the day.
