Judges’ critiques for Midland Whippet Club Championship Show 22.10.23. Special Award Classes. Judge Mr R.J.Gunn. My thanks to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge these classes at their recent championship show and also my thanks to my two stewards who helped my day run smoothly. Junior dog or bitch 11 entries 3 absentees. 1st Yacob Wright Mrs L. Cobyco Catch Your Eye. Loved this stunning fawn dog who is a picture of grace and elegance throughout. Handsome head of correct proportions with oval eyes giving typical expression and rose shaped ear, carried well by his long neck. Well laid back shoulders to his front with excellent return of upper arm, good strong pasterns and oval feet with knuckles well arched. Deep in his chest with ribs well sprung tucking up nicely. Muscular back of ample length leading to his gracefully arched loin. Strong, powerful rear with well bent stifles and muscular thighs. All of his attributes shone through as he moved with long easy strides with plenty of drive from behind and keeping a level top-line at all times. 2nd Ryan Mrs L. Sylleka Firebird At Riocife. Beautiful brindle bitch, elegantly proportioned throughout her body. Correct in her head with a dark oval eye giving a bright expression. Well-made in her front and with a balancing rear all with excellent muscle. She has a definite tuck up to her deep chest and a gracefully arched strong loin. On the move she was true coming and going covering the ground with freedom in her action. 3rd Whitehead & Smith Mrs J.C. & Miss R.L. Crème Anglais’s Lady Bridgerton Of Citycroft (IMP Nld). 4th Morris, Waddell, Mycroft & Mitchell Mrs L. Mr G. Miss F. & Miss A. Springfern Wild Thing At Crosscop. 5th Akerboom & Van Der Schaaf Mr J.W. & Mr K. Crème Anglais’s Lady Wistledown (ATC BA16049NLD). Open dog or bitch 17 entries 2 absentees. 1st Perkins & Van Der Schaaf Mrs C. & Mr K. Crème Anglais’s Just Julian With Silkridge TAF. Stunning brindle dog who is just full of quality, presented in super condition throughout, one I’d have loved to have taken home with me as my hands just flowed over his graceful curves. Masculine head with super expression from his dark oval eyes, rose shaped ears and good strong underjaw all carried well by his long, arched neck. Excellent front with ample width, straight forearms, well laid back shoulders and excellent return of upper arm. Well sprung ribs to his deep chest with definite tuck up to his broad, muscular, gracefully arched loin. Powerful rear with everything complimenting his front assembly perfectly and well-let down hocks. On the move he used his excellent conformation throwing his front legs forward and driving well from his rear to cover the ground with great freedom in his movement. 2nd Boggia Miss C. Falconcrag One For The Team At Boughton. Beautiful fawn bitch again full of elegance throughout her well balanced body and again presented in excellent condition throughout. Typical head of correct size and a beautiful expression from her oval eyes. Well-made in her front of ample width all fitting neatly around her deep chest so her elbows fall directly below her withers. Her loin is strong with a graceful arch which leads down to her muscular rear with well bent stifles. On the move she covered the ground well with great freedom in her movement and she was true coming and going. 3rd Howgate & Hull Mr M. & Ms Y.
