Richmond Dog Show 2023

Leonbergers

Many thanks to the friendly Leonberger people for showing their dogs and for the lovely atmosphere at the ringside, with generous applause for all the winners. I was very pleased with temperaments and pleasantly surprised how good the tails were today and presentation overall was excellent.

Veteran Dog (2,1)

1. Brown’s, Davenheath Feeling Lucky to Brenaljay, was lovely to see this 9 year old in such lovely condition enjoying his day out. He is excellent size and shape, with a strong masculine head. Lovely eye, ears well carried, good reach of neck, excellent croup. Good Bone and feet, moved well coming and going. Best Veteran in Breed.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,1)

Puppy Dog (1)

1. Sharkey’s, Jantonely Zingalong Baloo, 10 months old and well grown for his age with excellent substance. He has a strong well developed head, ears well placed, would prefer eye a touch darker. Nice reach of neck, topline is a little soft today. He has good bone and feet and balanced angulations. Moved well in profile, at this time a little close behind. Very nice Temperament. Best Puppy Dog.

Junior Dog (1)

1. Crooks’, Alfross Tulabo Aberyscir, 15 months old, impressive male. Head is developing nicely, with a nice medium dark eye, good volume to the muzzle, excellent ear placement and carriage. Good flow from the neck into the topline, excellent croup. He has the frame and time will see him hopefully fill this strong frame. Excellent bone and good feet. Angulation in the rear is really good and helped to propel him smoothly around the ring with ease. He was very well presented today in excellent coat and condition. Very calm boy who took everything in his stride, I am guessing his owner is a novice handler, so I hope they can grow together and do each other proud. Pleased to award him the Dog CC and later Best of Breed and he represented the breed nicely in the Group.

Post Graduate Dog (1)

1. Thomas’, Amathus Kramer, coming up to 21 months, he is a nice type and very nice size and shape, with a pleasing head and a medium dark eye. Well presented and handled,he has a nice reach of neck, topline was ok, chest well developed. Excellent bone and feet, I would prefer a little more strength to his rear quarters and on the move he can be more positive moving away.

Limit Dog (4,1)

1. Brown’s, Davenheath Guilty Pleasure to Brenaljay, 3 years old with a very nice outline. Beautifully handled and presented, he has a head of good strength, with a medium dark eye, nice reach of neck and good topline. He has good bone and good feet, would prefer more strength in the rear quarters. Moved freely, pleased to award him the Reserve Dog CC.

2. Walker’s, Condalf Final Chance, 3 ½ years old, pleasing type with a strong masculine head. Very nice eye and expression. Strong bone and good feet, but he could stand better in front. Angulations are balanced front and rear and he has good substance and moved out freely.

3. Darling’s, Debbollinby Pepsi Max.

Open Dog (3,1)

1. Niall & Rothery’s, Davenheath Gladiator, 3 years old, well presented in excellent condition. Pleasing head, medium dark eye, a little loose on the lips. Good bone and excellent feet. Nice flow from neck into an excellent topline, prefer more balance to the angulations. Moved freely.

2. Darling’s, Debbollinby Pepsi Max, 6 years old, pleasing head, powerful neck and good topline. He has good bone, I would prefer tighter feet. Angulations are balanced front and rear, but unfortunately today I found his movement rather erratic, particularly in the rear.

Veteran Bitch (1,1)

Minor Puppy Bitch (1)

1. Heginbotham’s, Sulandi Fallen Angel, 8 months old, very pleasing type and good size for age. Head developing nicely, nice eye and expression. Good reach of neck, nice flow into a good topline and excellent croup. Good bone and excellent feet, angulations are good front and rear, she just needs to fill this frame. Moved well, Best Puppy in Breed, delighted to hear she later won the Working Puppy Group.

Puppy Bitch (1,1)

Junior Bitch (1)

1. Simpson’s, Simberger Perfect Blend, 12 months old, medium sized girl with a balanced feminine head, could have a slightly more defined stop. Nice eye and expression, ears good size, well carried. Powerful neck, topline is a little soft today. Good croup, excellent bone, chest well developed. Moved freely could be a little tidier coming towards.

Yearling Bitch (3,1)

1. Shillabeer’s, Benellieson One More Time, 21 months, pleasing type, feminine head but still good strength. Lovely reach of neck, nice topline and croup. Good bone, I would like feet a little tighter. Balanced angulations, nice on the move, very pleasing sidegait.

2. Cleary’s, Benellieson Time in Motion, 21 months, well grown girl, pleasing head, ears appear a little large at this time. Nice eye, good topline and croup, good bone, feet can be tighter. Not in full coat today, moved very well

Post Graduate Bitch (4,1)

1. Shillabeer’s, Benellieson One More Time.

2. Raynor’s, Nexgen Bella Donna, 2 years old, medium size. I thought she had a lot of qualities, but overall the presentation and lack of ring craft let her down today. Nice type, she has enough bone, excellent feet. Topline a little soft today, good croup, moved really well.

3. Simpson’s, Simberger Salata De Icre.

Limit Bitch (3,3)

Open Bitch (3)

1. Bailey’s, Ch Skjaergaardens Riding the Cribbar, 5 years old, really nice type. Well presented and handled, substantial girl with a lovely outline. Good strength to her head, excellent reach of neck, lovely topline for her age and excellent croup. Good bone and feet, angulations are nicely balanced front and rear, she has super temperament and moved really well once settled, pleased to award this very worthy champion the Bitch CC.

2. Brown’s, Ch Davenheath Gipsy Girl to Brenaljay, 3 years old, medium size, very nicely presented and really well handled. Head is of medium strength, medium dark eye. Good bone, feet could be a shade tighter. Nice reach of neck, topline a little soft today, good croup. Angulations are balanced and she moved well, pleased to award her the Reserve Bitch CC
