FIELD SPANIELS

My thanks to the committee for the invitation to award challenge certificates in Field Spaniels for the first time. I was made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would also like to thank my efficient stewards who kept things running so smoothly.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG: No entries.

VETERAN DOG: 1

1. HARDING’S KINGSMIST PANTHER. Upstanding 7yr black of good make and shape, handsome head of good proportions, long muscular neck, straight front and deep in brisket, shoulders well laid, level topline, good length of rib and moderate stifle. Movement was steady and true, well presented.

PUPPY DOG: 2

1. WHEELER’S ELGERT KING FOR A DAY. Just right for his age, lovely head with gentle expression, ribs well back and a firm topline, good bone and well bodied, moved steadily showing a happy disposition.

2. TREVOR’S TREVORSILK VELVET FIRE. This boy has very good bone with the substance to match, he has a balanced head with soft expression and his overall make and shape is good. Playful on the move enjoying his day out, well done to his handler overcoming his fright from the next ring.

JUNIOR DOG: 2

1. HARDING’S KINGSMIST REMEMBER ME. A little raw at the moment but lots to like about this youngster. Masculine in head with chiselling, good eye shape and colour, clean through the neck and shoulders which are well laid, firm in topline with muscular quarters, moved out well just needs time to fill his frame. Best Junior.

2. SHIPTON’S HEARTWOOD MISHULES GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD. Substantial masculine liver/tan with strong flat bone, well balanced front showing good forechest, firm in topline and well ribbed up, steady and true on the move, just a touch strong overall for me.

POST GRADUATE DOG: 3

1. TROTTER’S CLANDRIFT DIPLOMAT. Wouldn’t want him any bigger but has good overall type and balance, pleasing head with good length of muzzle, moderate stop and lean under the eye, long strong neck into good lay of shoulder, well sprung ribs, firm in loin with good turn of stifle, moved well though would prefer a better tailset and carriage.

2. HARDING’S KINGSMIST REMEMBER ME.

3. SHIPTON’S HEARTWOOD MISHULES GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.

LIMIT DOG: 3

Difficult class as all were different in type.

1. MACBAIN & BREWER’S FECIMUS SON OF A GUN JW. Won this class with his sound, steady and positive movement making good use of the ring, pleasing in head shape which is lean with good stop, well balanced angulation front and rear with a strong topline and in hard condition.

2. ELLIOTT’S ELGERT BREAK EVERY RULE AT PORTSOY. Blue roan with lots to like, his head is of good length with plenty of work, deep in rib under a firm topline, balanced, strong quarters, moved well though a little too keen.

3. STONE’S SONNETEND TOO FUNKY.

OPEN DOG: 5

Strongest class of the day with some quality exhibits.

1. MOSS’S SH CH FECIMUS CHASE THE DREAM TO EWTOR JW. Eye-catching fully mature male of good breed type and shown in excellent coat and condition. He has substance without coarseness, his head is of good proportions has plenty of work and slightly raised brow giving a noble expression, strong neck leading into correct forehand assembly, he has a firm level topline with good finish to croup and correct tail set, deep rib of ideal length, strong in loin with well-muscled quarters used to advantage moving so soundly with plenty of reach and drive. CC & BOB. Pleased to see him shortlisted in the Group.

2. BENNETT’S SH CH JESHAM BARONET. Another fine example of the breed presenting a typical profile, fully mature so at his best. Appealing head and eye with moderate stop, long neck leading cleanly into well laid shoulders and standing well over his ground, strong topline with well set on tail and muscular quarters, moved well on a positive stride, well presented though a little out of coat today. Reserve CC.

 3. GALLEN’S WOODSONG PLEIADES (IMP FRA)

GOOD CITIZEN DOG: No entries.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH: No entries.

VETERAN BITCH: 3 (1ab)

1. MOORE’S ELGERT SWEET LITTLE LIES AT GADHELIC VW. At almost 9 years this girl looks amazing, ultra feminine in beautiful coat and condition, classic head with chiselling and clean under the eyes she has a melting expression and a real air of nobility about her. Long clean neck into firm topline, well balanced angulation front and rear with good length and depth of rib, once settled she moved well giving her all in the challenge to take CC and BV. Just had to give way to the dog who was on top form today.

2. BOWEN’S KINGSMIST ROSE AT CLANDRIFT. Sweet-headed b with a kind eye and expression, well balanced with plenty of substance, moved steady and true showing a happy disposition.

PUPPY BITCH: 3 (1ab)

1. TREVOR’S TREVORSILK BLUE VELVET. Loved this happy confident p so nice to see, she is substantial with plenty of bone, is pleasing in head already showing work and a soft cheeky expression, everything is in the right place for her age, has a beautiful dark liver coat in good condition, her collected steady movement gained her BP. Will watch her progress with interest.

2. ANGUS’S ELGERT QUEEN OF HEARTS TO SPARKENHOE. Nice quality black with a very pretty head, confident, well bodied with good angulation, moved steadily.

JUNIOR BITCH: 1

1. JAMES’S KINGSMIST GOLDEN FUTURE FOR BLEIDDIAID. Pretty-headed black with a clean outline, nicely put together, shows good depth with moderate bend of stifle, at the leggy stage but has time on her side, well presented.

POSTGRADUATE BITCH: 3 (1ab)

1. STONE’S SONNETEND KISS ME KATE. Clean in profile and loved her head which was of good proportions with plenty of work and a gentle expression from dark eyes, good neck and shoulders, showing plenty of forechest, has good bone and substance and moderate stifles, moved well.

2. JAMES’S KINGSMIST GOLDEN FUTURE FOR BLEIDDIAID.

LIMIT BITCH: 3

1. HAZELL’S NADAVIN EXPECTATION OF VRAIBLEU. Typical Field in outline and head shape which is very feminine of nice proportions, plenty of chiselling and complimented by good finish to foreface, lengthy neck into good lay of shoulder and firm topline, well ribbed up with correct flat bone, moderate stifle used to advantage on the move which was true and positive. Reserve CC. Today was unfortunate to come up against the fully mature veteran.

2. BARKER’S NADAVIN YIRKI AT TUMBLEBAR. I liked this b but she just wouldn’t settle on the move, similar to 1 in many ways, well-proportioned feminine head with correct eye shape and colour, clean through the neck and shoulders and level topline, she is well balanced with good ribbing.

3. ADAM’S IRISBEL ENGLISH ROSE JW.

OPEN BITCH: 3

1. MCVITTY’S SH CH SONNETEND FAITH. Well boned substantial b of good breed type, she has a lovely balanced head with plenty of work, nice length of neck into good shoulder placement, well ribbed up, good in loin and firm quarters, moved steady and true but would prefer a little more animation.

2. HARDING’S KINGSMIST MISS MARPLE JW. Black b. nicely formed head with dark expressive eyes, correct forehand assembly with corresponding hind angulation, deep in brisket and strong topline, moved on a positive stride.

3.MACBAIN & BREWER’S CAN CH AM CH FECIMUS WRITTEN IN THE STARS.
