Breed: German Spitz (Klein)

BUBA Ch 2/12/23 German Spitz Klein

My thanks to all the hardy souls who braved the terrible weather and it was a relief to have enough quality for the big green cards plus some nice youngsters coming through in the age classes. It’s also a good sign to see all the young handlers doing such a lovely job in getting the best out of their dogs.

Quality in some classes could have been higher but my 2 open classes were both excellent classes and all very worthy Champions. Type was mostly correct but size needs working on as a few pushed the measure. Bites were generally good with just 1 that was undershot. Most were well presented in good clean condition but a couple would have benefited from a bath and blast.

Puppy Dog (1)

1st Fecimus Brother Bear (Mrs J Huntley)

Raw but promising 6m/o shaded brown. Good width of skull and correct balance to muzzle length, his ears currently look a little large in proportion but will likely be less obvious as he develops. Correct eyes, enough pigment for his coat colour, he has a sweet but cheeky expression. Presents a typical outline of correct proportions with enough neck, level top line and correct tail set, correct moderate angulation, well boned legs and neat feet. Would like just a little more forward reach but otherwise moved well for such a baby, however he managed to pull out all the stops in the BP challenge to take BPIB in front of another promising puppy.

Junior Dog (1, 1 abs)

Post Graduate Dog (2)

1st Nosregor Take It All (Miss L Rogerson)

19m/o finely built black who is lacking in coat today, but that just makes it easier to appreciate his correct outline and proportions. Masculine enough head with correct ears and dark eyes which give a pleasing expression. Good neck, level top line and high tail set. Forechest still developing, good shoulders but slightly steep in upper arm which restricts him a little in forereach. Correct rear, firm hocks and neat feet. Moves OK away and back.

2nd Pommary Court Jester (H, R & B Moore)

15m/o orange sable. OK in skull but a little more strength to muzzle would enhance. Attractive dark eyes, ears are well set and shaped but a little tall. Enough neck, not presented in the best coat or body condition today which emphasized him also being a bit overstretched in proportions. Correct topline and tailset, good bone and neat feet. Seemed a bit worried today which didn’t help his movement as he was too busy looking around and lacked rear drive.

Open Dog (6, 2 abs)

1st Longsdale's Cesar Chance (Mr G & Mr D Pearce & Francis)

2.5y/o top-sized eye-catching cream sable of excellent type and quality, shown in super coat and condition. Attractive masculine head with correct dark eyes and strong pigment, though like many, ears could be just a touch smaller. Presents a very pleasing picture with his correct outline and balanced construction, well set and carried tail, strong straight legs and neat feet and is spot on for bone and substance. Along with many of the other males here today, when moving his mind wasn’t quite as focussed on the job which resulted in him lifting his front feet just a touch higher than he should so this went against him in the challenge for BOB, but was otherwise excellent on the move. DCC.

2nd Ch Longsdale's Blame It On Me (Mr G & Mr D Pearce & Francis)

5.5y/o cream who despite his full coat still presents a pleasing outline of correct proportions, enough length of foreleg and very good bone and substance. Balanced masculine head, correct dark eyes and still with excellent pigment at this age which enhances his expression, though another one whose ears could be a little less tall to advantage. Good neck and well-made mature body, correct front angles and wouldn’t want any more rear angulation. Correct topline and excellent tailset, good legs and very neat feet. Like his kennel mate, he could have been a little more focussed on the move but certainly did enough to gain his place here and the RDCC.

3rd Ch Nosregor Willhe Surprise Ya (Miss L Rogerson)

Reserve (4th ) 467 - Ch Perrymere Just Bertie JW (Mrs A & Mrs F Jackson & Minshall)

Veteran Dog (2, 1 abs)

1st Chilite Indian Chief (Miss N Shepherd)

13y/o lilac who is just showing his age a little in his head but shown in full coat and presents a compact outline. Still in excellent body condition with a level topline and correct tailset, correct angulation, enough bone for his size, good legs and neat feet. Moves very well and certainly no sign of aging in this respect.

Special Beginners Dog (1)

1st Pommary Mark My Word (H, R & B Moore)

5y/o orange sable who is rather petite, especially for a male so would like more strength and substance all round, plus he wasn’t in the best coat condition today. Skull is in balance with the rest of him but he’s just a touch short in muzzle. Well-shaped and set dark eyes, good pigment, though his ears could be a bit neater. Short neck, level topline and high tailset. A little short and steep in upper arm which restricts him in forward reach, plenty of rear angulation. OK going away but untidy coming back.

Puppy Bitch (1)

1st Melitabe Lyra (Miss N Shepherd)

6m/o feminine wolf sable still a little unsure of things. Head still developing so another with ears to grow into, correct neck, typical outline and proportions, correctly set and carried tail. Balanced angulation but still very much the baby on the move so whilst her side gait is OK, she’s still quite close away and back which should hopefully improve as she develops and fills out.

Junior Bitch (1)

1st Fecimus Butter Me Up (Miss N Shepherd)

8m/o brown-pigmented orange sable. Typical feminine head with correct eyes, OK pigment for coat colour and ears well set though slightly tall. Correct neck, body developing nicely with level topline and correct tailset. Balanced angles, good legs and neat feet. Moved nicely from all directions. BPB.

Post Graduate Bitch (1)

1st Fecimus Having A Giraffe (Miss N Shepherd)

2y/o happy and attentive black with tan bleed through. Attractive feminine head with correct dark eyes and neat ears, good neck, level topline and correct tailset. Good angulation both ends but she is a little stretched in proportions and slightly low on pasterns so not quite the compact outline I was looking for. Plenty of coat but texture a little soft. Good side gait but slightly close away and back.

Limit Bitch (2, 1 abs)

1st Longsdale's Remember Me (Mr G & Mr D Pearce & Francis)

20m/o and for a brown, she has excellent depth of pigment, eye and coat colour. Slightly strong in skull but retains balance of muzzle, correct eyes and neat enough ears. Presented in lovely coat and condition which enhances her balanced outline with correct proportions, good neck, level topline and correct tailset. Good angulation, correct bone and substance, and neat feet. She moved well in side gait but just a bit close away and back, though she’s still young enough that this can improve with age.

Open Bitch (3)

1st Ch Nosregor Sister Sledge (Miss L Rogerson)

My notes all just say “excellent” or “correct” for this 3y/o cream who oozes type and quality. Beautiful feminine head with correct eyes, ears and strong pigment result in a very appealing expression. Excellent to go over with everything just as our breed standard asks for, and brisk, effortless and efficient on the move where she never put a foot wrong. There was no denying her the CC & BOB today and also nice to see she was shortlisted in the group.

2nd Ch Longsdale's No More The Fool (Mr G & Mr D Pearce & Francis)

2y/o cream also of excellent feminine type shown in good coat and condition. Another with a typical head and expression, good eyes and pigment, though her ears are slightly tall. Balanced compact outline and correct for proportions, topline, tailset and angulation, completed by strong legs and neat feet. On the move she was OK in side gait, slightly close away but just lost out in the RCC challenge on front movement when coming back.

3rd Fecimus One of Us (Mrs S Slack)

Veteran Bitch (2, 1 abs)

1st Fecimus The Good Fairy (Miss N Shepherd)

7y/o brown-pigmented orange sable still very much in her prime and shown in lovely condition though would just like slightly harsher texture to her well-presented full coat. Excellent feminine head with correct eyes and ears, good neck, firm level topline and high tailset. Under the coat she is really well made for balance and proportions giving a correct compact outline. Good angulation, lovely bone and neat feet and another one that displayed brisk and effortless movement. Had to settle for RCC & BVIB today but surprised she doesn’t already have her title.
