Boston & District Canine Society

I should like to extend my sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee of Boston & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at this show.  It was a very enjoyable day and I very much appreciated the opportunity of this appointment to assess some lovely dogs.  

I would particularly like to thank the exhibitors of my lovely Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla entry and for trusting me with their dogs – thank you. Finally, huge thanks to my Stewards – Geraldine Dodd and Bridgette Bodle for their efficiency and support during my Judging.

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla:

Puppy Dog (4):

1ST Spillane, Mr D & Mrs J, Belatarr Kodiak: Beautifully balanced young male of 8 months of age. Free from exaggeration just an extremely nice puppy. Very good head and expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition with scissor bite. Strong neck leading to excellent forehand assembly complete with corresponding length of upper arm. Very good width and depth of brisket for one so young. Well ribbed back. Good bend of stifle. Neat feet with short nails. Moved well and soundly both fore and aft and in profile. My pleasure to award him Best Puppy in Breed and Reserve Best Dog – I understand that he was shortlisted in the Puppy Gundog Group – a very promising future waits him.

2ND Tasker, Mrs A L, Zoldmali Ezmi (IMP SRB): A very impressive male of 11 months of age, extremely well balanced and of excellent overall breed type. Clean head with correct eye and ear. Correct, clean and complete dentition with scissor bite. Clean neck of moderate length. Excellent forehand assembly and width of chest. Well ribbed into well made and muscular hindquarters. Excellent bone and outstanding feet. Good density to coat. Moved accurately fore and aft.

Junior Dog (1):

1ST Tasker, Mrs A L, Zoldmali Ezmi (IMP SRB)

Open Dog (2):

1ST Summerfield, Mrs R D, Miadsc Cast A Spell: Balanced male of nearly 2½ years of age – undoubtedly completely fit for function. Super clean outline in profile, very good head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition with scissor bite. Clean neck into very good forehand assembly, brisket of good width and depth, well muscled and moderately angulated hindquarters, moved soundly. Best Dog and Best Opposite Sex.   

2ND Spillane, Mr D & Mrs J, Belatarr Jupiter: I have judged this male before and whilst he is larger than my personal preference he is balanced and of good breed type; very good clean head and expression and well placed ears, correct, clean and complete dentition with scissor bite. Strong neck leading into good layback of shoulder and depth of chest. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle Good bone and feet. Good coat texture. Moved soundly and accurately. 

Puppy Bitch (3):

1ST Lewis, Mr L L, Enryb Lily The Pink: Very pleasing bitch of just 10 months of age. Very well balanced with an excellent head, moderately broad and lively expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition, clean well muscled neck, well placed shoulder with corresponding return of upper arm, elbows close to body, deep chest, level back, strong hindquarters with moderate angulation. Harsh close fitting coat, moved very well.

2ND Cooper, Mr W & Mrs S, Hazean Donetsk To Deifstock (IKC): A balanced and typy bitch of 11 months of age. Very well made all through and extremely well balanced, totally free from exaggeration, pleasing head and eye, correct, clean and complete dentition, good forehand assembly, well sprung ribs, muscled hindquarters, lacked the correct coat texture that I was looking for moved well.

1ST Cooper, Mr W & Mrs S, Hazean Donetsk To Deifstock (IKC)

Post Graduate Bitch (2, 1abs):

1ST Wearing, Mrs D, Vernum Ventulus Hanga at Genlusa (IMP HUN): Upstanding but feminine bitch of 20 months of age. Presented in lovely condition, fit and very hard with very good musculature. Excellent head with correct, clean and complete dentition, strong slightly arched neck into well placed shoulder assembly, strong and proportionate body with loin of optimum length for me, could have more spring of rib, level back, brisket of good depth and width, moderately angulated hindquarters moved well.

Open Bitch (4, 1abs):

1ST Newton, Mrs P, Jaktays Vida: An extremely well balanced bitch of 22 months of age. Very good pleasing overall type and an absolute credit to her owner. Presented in lovely condition, fit with very good musculature. Excellent head with correct, clean and complete dentition, strong slightly arched neck into well placed shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm, strong and proportionate body, level back, deep brisket of good width, moderately angulated hindquarters moved well and soundly. There can be little doubt that this bitch is fit for function. My pleasure to award her Best Bitch and Best of Breed.

2ND Summerfield, Mrs R D, Ambermoore Tanzanite Blue at Miadsc ShCM: A bitch of over 8 years of age who and to the credit of her owners looks no more than one would guess as 4 years of age. Super fit and so well muscled. Excellent head and expression with correct length of skull to muzzle. correct, clean and complete dentition with scissor bite. Clean neck leading to excellent forehand construction. Level topline, which was maintained at all times, good depth and width of brisket. Very well ribbed back into strong loin, moderate and muscled hindquarters, good quality bone all through, neat feet and short nails, moved soundly and accurately whenever asked. Reserve Best Bitch.
