Dogs

Thank you to the officers and committee of the Parti-Coloured Cocker Spaniel Club for giving me the honour of awarding CC’s in our wonderful breed for a second time. Ian Scott as my steward for the day and kept me in check and the ring running smoothly throughout the day so thank you to Ian. To everyone who entered their wonderful dogs under me im truly grateful, it’s a time consuming and not a cheap hobby anymore so thank you to you all im truly honoured to have judged your dogs.

Now to the dogs! I do feel quality in dogs has increased a little since I last judged them which is encouraging. There is some wonderful potential in a lot of youngsters too which was pleasing to find. The one thing that I came away concerned about overall was rear movement quite a lot of dogs were sadly let down in this area.

Class 1 – Any Colour Veteran Dog

A wonderful class of veterans which was a pleasure to judge.

1. Scott’s - Kalispell Beaspoke JW – A blue dog that oozes quality, masculine balanced head with gentle expression, correct straight front, short and compact in body with depth and spring of rib, excels in rear angulation. Moved effortlessly and with drive. Delighted to see him go BVIS with agreement of my co-judge.

2. Cox’s -SH CH Gardenstone Pale Rider to Suvern JW – A dog I have admired for many years so it was a pleasure to get to go over him and in such good company he didn’t disappoint. He presents a beautiful outline with correct reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Presented and handled to perfection. Just preferred the cobbyness of my class winner

3. Ellison’s - SH CH Withiflor Rolling Stone JW

Class 2 – Black / Black and Tan Special Puppy Dog

1. Young’s - Canyonn Black Caviar – black dog, balanced in head with dark tight eye, correct reach of neck, short coupled, moves well with a straight front and width from the rear.

2. Share-Jones’s - Sharemead turn back time – black dog of larger type to my class winner, love his masculine head with gentle dark eye, well off for bone throughout. Preferred the rear angulation and width of rear movement of my class winner

3. Mcshane’s - Meggiemac Black Pearl

Class 3 – Black / Black and Tan Special Undergraduate Dog

1. Pearce’s - Kenwad Black Grouse at Miska JW – a quality black dog without exaggeration and one who just keeps getting better as he continues to mature. His dark eye and wonderful expression just melts you as it should. Well off for bone, straight in front and beautiful tight well padded feet, presents a balanced outline both stacked and on the move, short and cobby, excellent depth and good spring of rib, moved effortlessly and with drive, beautifully presented. Shortlisted for the CC.

2. Vere’s - Adrona Continental – black dog who was unfortunate to meet the class winner, he is a pleasing type, masculine in head, correct reach of neck, just preferred the topline of my class winner.

Class 4 – Black / Black and Tan Special Open Dog

1. Norris’s - Joaldy Mr Happy at Amaranth – black dog with wonderful rear angulation and tail carriage, good reach of neck, masculine in head, will come on further with maturity, beautifully presented.

1. Wiggins’s - SH CH Snowgate Onyer Bike to Scapafield JW – Gold dog who has to be handled to be fully appreciated. Balanced in head and overall outline, well off for bone, has excellent depth and good spring of rib, strong topline both stacked and on the move, moves with the correct width both fore and after and didn’t put a foot wrong. Presented to perfection with not a single hair out of place! Shortlisted for the CC.

2. Rofe’s - Villaspaniol Sunny Delight – Gold dog of pleasing type, well off for bone, balanced outline and strong rear quarters, moved well. I just preferred the depth of chest of my class winner.

3. Snowgate Gold Edition at Merryhaze

Class 8 – Any other colour – Special Puppy Dog

1. Thomas’s - Claramand Foolin Around – Quality orange dog puppy with a head to die for, well proportioned with correct stop, dark pigmentation he just melts you when you look into his eyes as a cocker should. Correct bone for age, straight front with tight well padded feet, good reach of neck flowing into correct placed shoulders, strong topline and correct rear angulation. One that can only improve with maturity and one I will watch with interest.

2. Clarke’s - Harbethol Look Magical Tyme – blue dog who’s cheeky cocker character gave his handler some fun and games in this class but his lovely honest type shone through for me. Although very much a raw baby he really impressed me, everything is just as it should be for his age. The best of heads, balanced in shape and excels in rear angulation. Another I will watch as he matures

3. Sinclair’s - Claramand Mercury Rising at Duclarus

Class 9 – Any other colour – Special Junior Dog

1. Bayliss’s - Shirepark Sir Francis Drake by Wilanorah JW – Blue dog of pleasing size and type, masculine throughout, excels in depth of chest and spring of rib, moved effortlessly and with drive.

2. Gilmour’s - Chavez Silver Cloud – light blue dog of lighter frame to my class winner, pleasing head and eye, lovely straight front, tight well padded feet, just preferred the body maturity carried by my class winner.

Class 10 – Any other colour – Special Undergraduate Dog

1. Madigan’s - Misperros Design in Silver – blue dog from the top draw! Masculine in head with dark eye and melting expression, fabulous reach and well muscled neck slowing seamlessly into correctly placed, strong shoulders, well off for bone throughout, straight front and tight feet. He excels in depths of chest and spring of rib, is short, cobby and compact with such strong rear quarters. Moved effortlessly with width and drive using his tail as he goes. Just couldn’t be denied and it was my pleasure to award him the RCC his first top award. I look forward to watching this boys career going forward.

2. Marris-Bray, Wiggins and Wood’s - Glowhill Gallivant – blue dog of different type to my class winner. Lots to like about this dog, gorgeous head, balanced in outline, well angulated both fore and after, moves positively with width and drive. Just preferred the maturity my class winner.

Class 11 – Any other colour – Special Open Dog

1. Wildman’s - Reemif Midnight Blue for Chanmalo ShCm ShCEx – Blue dog with a good reach neck, excellent shoulder placement with depth and spring of rib, such a sound moving boy, presented in excellent coat and condition.

2. Hynd’s - Ryallcourt Tan About Town at Scomar – Black and white dog of different type to my class winner, well off for bone, big ribs and presents a balanced outline when stacked, just preferred the head and eye of my class winner.

Class 12 – Any Colour Minor Puppy Dog

What a fabulous class of quality youngsters it was a pleasure to judge this class and I look forward to watching these youngsters progress their show careers.

1. Nuttall’s - Rosecourt Forest Flame – Blue roan and tan dog that shouts quality and who totally stole my heart! He just ticks all the boxes for me, he has a stunning masculine head just to the right degree for his age, he is short, cobby and compact in body, correct reach of neck flowing into perfectly placed shoulders, good spring of rib and depth for his age, correct rear angulation allowing him to drive effortlessly around the ring with correct width. Delighted to award him BMPD and BPD one to watch as he matures.

2. Stokes-Harrell’s - Riondel the showman – Blue roan dog who pushed the class winner hard I really was splitting hairs between these beautiful youngsters. Love his balanced head with correct square muzzle, another presenting such a square compact body, just preferred flow of neck into shoulders of my class winner but I really was splitting hairs. Another one with a very bright future ahead im sure.

1. William’s - SH CH Wilmerella Outlander – blue dog presenting a lovely outline, balanced in head, lovely reach of neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders, excels in depth of chest and spring of rib, well off for bone throughout, well angulated both fore and after. Beautifully presented.

2. Thomas’s - Bruxly Harvest Moon at Whisperwood – orange dog of larger overall type to my class winner, very well off for bone, short and compact in body. Preferred the reach of neck and shoulder angulation of my class winner.

Class 16 – Any Colour Novice Dog

1. Bond’s - Olibond Not a Bother – blue dog who stood alone but a worthy winner, how short, square and compact this dog is really shouts to you both stacked and on the move. Beautiful straight front, gorgeous tight feet, excels in spring of rib and width across the loin, excellent rear angulation, beautifully presented.

Class 17 – Any Colour Graduate Dog

1. Ellison’s - Spinoza of Merrily Avec Withiflor (Imp Fra) – Spinonza is a very appropriate name for this boy as he certainly spins around and has such fun in the ring! There is no way this beautiful black and tan dog can’t be described as cockery in type and nature. He presents a correct outline both stacked and on the move (once settled), he has a stunning head and dark eye, his reach of neck and flow into strong shoulders is fabulous, he is short, cobby and compact with width across the loin, the power from his correct rear angulation is quite something for his handler to contend with but moves true and with drive once settled. One who can only get better and better with maturity.

2. Collins’s - Bartonholm Prince of Tides at Candyke JW – Blue dog who pushed the class winner very hard indeed, another with lots to like and who presents a pleasing outline with short, cobby compact body with strong topline. Straight in front with correct bone, excels in neck shoulders, just preferred the tail carriage of my class winner.

3. Marris-Bray, Wiggins and Wood’s - Glowhill Gallivant

Class 18 – Any Colour Post Graduate Dog

1. Terry’s - Shaggylands Desperate Dan – blue dog that my notes say wow this dog can move! When handling this boy you confirm what your eyes tell you viewing him on the move as his angulation both fore and after is fabulous allowing him to cover ground at pace and without effort. There is also no doubt that he’s a dog with a balanced masculine head and dark tight eye, good reach of neck and ample depth and spring of rib. Presented in excellent coat and condition and one who for me can only keep on getting better as he continues to mature.

2. Gladman’s - Chativore Fore Shore – blue dog who really needs to be handled to fully appreciate his quality, another that you have no doubts that he is a dog, balanced in head proportions with lovely square muzzle, balanced in outline, good reach of neck and powerful shoulders, very well off for bone and substance throughout, excels in depth of chest, spring of rib and width across the loin. This boy has so much power from his rear quarters he can cause his handler some bother but once settled drives positively. Just preferred the compactness at this time of my class winner but he is another dog that will get better and better as he matures.

Class 19 – Any Colour Special Beginners Dog

1. Grist’s - Kasordon Firestarter – black dog that ive watched with interest from him been a baby so it was lovely to finally get to handle him and he didn’t disappoint me. He’s a very honest type with the best of heads with dark eye and melting gentle expression. Short cobby and compact with plenty of width across the loin and strong topline. Moved well.

2. Robinson’s - Wilmerella Perfect Storm – blue dog with lots to like, stronger in head than my class winner, excels in depth of chest and spring of rib, well off for bone throughout, just preferred the topline of my class winner.

3. Holland’s - Crimcar Indigo Magic to Holchancer

Class 20 – Any Colour Limit Dog

1. Torbett’s - Kirlinjis Taylor Made – Dark Blue dog that screams quality from every angle and for me has been knocking at the door for top awards for some time now. On handling this boy he didn’t disappoint me in fact he impressed me even further. He is masculine without anything been overdone. His head is balanced, square in muzzle, dark tight eye, soft expression. His outline is fabulous correct reach of neck flowing into strong well developed shoulders. In body he has depth, spring of rib, is short and cobby and a strong topline both stacked and on the move. Correct angulations both fore and after allows this dog to move with width, drive and foot perfect. It was my absolute pleasure to award this fabulous dog his first CC and I sincerely hope that many more are to follow.

2. Cassidy’s - Manchela Speechless at Cassoz JW – Light blue dog who was unfortunate to meet my class winner, he is another dog who I have admired from the ringside right from his debut as a baby and on handling he didn’t disappoint me. Another with a head totally to my taste with such a gentle warm expression and dark tight eye. This boy is so square, cobby and compact with a strong correct topline, excels also in depth of chest and well off for bone throughout. Straight in front and gorgeous tight feet, angulated without extremes allowing him to cover ground effortlessly with width and drive. Called back in to challenge for the RCC. Another without doubt that has a bright future ahead.

3. Salmon’s - Crimicar Indigo Eclipse

Class 21 – Any Colour Open Dog

1. Morris’s - SH CH Riondel Candyman JW – blue dog who really impressed me on handling, he is balanced, square, cobby and compact in body with depth, spring of rib and a strong topline both stacked and on the move. Love his front assembly straight in front, good reach of neck and correct shoulder placement. The rear angulation is what really impresses me on this dog and there is no wonder he powers around the ring at such speed the muscle on his rear quarters of this boy are fabulous and powers this dogs movement with width and positivity. Beautifully presented. Shortlisted for the CC.

2. Salmon’s - Crimicar Indigo Eclipse – blue dog of such honest type with much to like, he presents a balanced outline, good reach of neck, strong topline, nice angulation throughout allowing positive movement , well presented coat, just preferred the overall maturity of my class winner.

3. Pop’s - Manacas Double Ideas with Bocablue
