Hound Association
Always a privilege to judge my second love. Thanks to my lovely stewards, and to the committee for staging such a great show. A very pleasing entry, quite a mix of types but plenty of quality, the strength in depth especially in the bitches was notable. Coats were beautifully presented, but as usual quite a few dirty teeth, this is a health issue and I am weary of having to point it out on every appointment! Surprised to find several exhibits that were carrying far too much weight, to the extent of not being able to feel pin bones, which pulls down toplines and spoils movement. Front movement is an ever present issue, but hind movement was generally good and plenty of pleasing ground coverage in profile. A few short tails.
Class 153 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 470 LEE-BROWN, Mrs Angela Carol PALAMEDEES BASTIEN PARAMOR, w/s 6 months on the day and obviously still very raw, but a nice shape. Pleasing head with veining, correct oval foot, good topline, matching angles, plenty of bone with lots of growth to come. Legs all over the place on the move but coped well with the noisy hall, BP.
Class 154 JD (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 462 HARVEY, Mrs L Astragorn Zeus Glory Of Albaneiler (Imp AUS), super balanced outline on this w/torti youngster, masculine head with strong jaw, excellent front and feet with good depth and fill for age, sweeping topline with correct fallaway, well muscled rear, a bit over-enthusiastic on the move but showed plenty of extension, one for the future.
2nd: 450 DOVER, Mrs ANGELA MARIE & DOVER, MR KEITH PALAMEDEES ARIAN KHRYSOS AT KEANVER, w/g, reasonable head though earset could be higher, good shoulder and return, gently curved topline with sufficient breadth and length of loin, clean mover all round, slightly soft in pastern. Shown and handled very well.
3rd: 469 LEE-BROWN, Mrs Angela Carol Palamedees Ashal Warrior.
Class 155 YD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 461 HARVEY, Mrs L Lynx Ice River Of Albaneiler (Imp SWE) w/r, pleasing head profile and veining; unexaggerated matching angles both ends, with good shoulder placement, deep chest, good topline and fallaway, clean going away. At the in-between age, time should see him fill in front a little more.
2nd: 457 GARDNER, Mrs P Cavallierik Wolford (Imp Rus), self black, very different type, refined and elegant with dark eye and fine small ears, good shoulder and topline, good depth for age, moved well enough, turning toes in a bit.
3rd: 483 CLARE, Ms Michele DONSKOI THE MAD HATTER AT RUSSMECHTA
Class 156 SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 450 DOVER, Mrs ANGELA MARIE & DOVER, MR KEITH PALAMEDEES ARIAN KHRYSOS AT KEANVER
Class 157 PGD (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 472 LOGVINENKO, Dr Timothy Ryazan Vladimir, litter brother to the BB, what a handsome boy, pleasing head, nice veining, good ear shape and set, excellent forehand with good fill and depth, springy pasterns and oval foot, good long strong loin, correct topline and fallaway, moved really well out and back and showed real effortless extension in profile, in the challenge he just pipped his litter brother to take the RCC.
2nd: 440 ALLEN, Mrs G Lynx Life of Brian with Araura (Imp Swe) upstanding substantial w/c, very good make and shape with ample bone and substance, standing over plenty of ground, masculine well shaped head, matching angles; carries quite a lot of condition and he has yet to drop in chest which would fill out his front, this should come with maturity.
3rd: 464 JOHNSON, Miss C M Viridis Pink Floyd
Class 158 LD (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 482 CLARE, Ms Michele DONSKOI GROZA AT RUSSMECHTA, w/torti, very nice quality head with strong jaw, good shoulder and upper arm, plenty of scope with strong loin and unexaggerated curves, in fit show condition, held topline well on the move, covering plenty of ground, handsome boy who could just tighten in pastern.
2nd: 480 RACZKA, Mrs C & RACZKA, Mr P Jamarqui Alchemy Argent, w/g with pleasing curvy outline, in full coat, nice head with dark eye, good return of upper arm and turn of stifle, good feet and pasterns, moved OK but at 5 years old I would have hoped for more fill in front.
3rd: 490 WRIGHT, Mrs M E Donskoi Tsarevich
Class 159 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 442 DAWSON, Mr Nigel & DAWSON, Mrs Elizabeth & DAWSON, Steppdance Pintel At Stubbylee (Imp Nor), if ever a hound was worth the wait it is this one, a very slow maturer but like fine wine he gets better with age. Now 6 years old and probably at his peak, he has developed so much in the 2 years since I last went over him. Strong jaw, dark eye, excellent construction all through and standing over ample ground, he doesn’t carry a huge coat but what he has is of excellent texture, in fit show condition. Such a superb mover; totally sound both ends with precise footfall, pin sharp in front and with a beautiful, floating effortless gait, looks as if he could be handled on a silk thread, quite lovely to watch. CC, his second, & BOB.
2nd: 479 PINKERTON, Mrs Sue & CATTONI-SARMAN, Mrs Lynda & A Ch Ryazan Viceroy Of Radost At Menigma ShCEx, another from this cracking litter, full glamorous silky coat and a pleasing head with plenty of work in it, again an excellent front with correct feet, generous in loin with a gently curved topline, clean and sound all round and graceful in profile, beautifully presented as always from this owner/handler.
3rd: 456 GARDNER, Mrs P Cavallierik Nektarino (Imp Rus)
Class 160 VD NO ENTRIES
Class 161 PB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 471 LEE-BROWN, Mrs Angela Carol PALAMEDEES BAROQUE MUSE, w/g 6months sister to the BP, very pretty feminine head, good forehand with some fill already and excellent return of upper arm, nice curvy topline, perhaps a bit more rear angulation than I prefer. Very difficult to assess her movement as she was rather overawed by the noisy echoes in the hall. BPB.
Class 162 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 460 HARVEY, Mrs L Lynx Ocean Of Peace At Albaneiler (Imp SWE), self cream, beautifully balanced with all the scope in the world, feminine head, good shoulder and return, sufficient fill for age, plenty of depth, really well ribbed up with gentle arch and balanced fallaway, beautiful effortless profile movement, has a little more maturing to do but earned the RCC today.
2nd: 463 HAYWOOD, Mx Kitto Rosskaja Lady In Red of Sterrennacht, w/r 12 months, much more petite and still very raw, very pleasing dry feminine head with good veining, good angles both ends and a correct topline, profile movement OK, but she is very fine and narrow all through at present and needs a lot more time.
Class 163 YB (3 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 489 WHEATLEY, Mrs Elizabeth Margaret & WHEATLEY, Mr Pa Takatori Legally Blonde (AZ2) w/g, very pleasing feminine head with dark eye and good planes, good shoulder placement and return of upper arm, ample scope and balanced topline, moved well in profile and going away, a bit untidy in front which should improve as she fills and drops with maturity, very nice type.
Class 164 SBB (1 Entries) Abs: 1
Class 165 PGB (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 445 DAWSON, Mr Nigel & DAWSON, Mrs Elizabeth & DAWSON, Stubbylee Mood Indigo, 3 y/o w/cr, lovely type, well balanced outline, strong rear and well angled front, stands over plenty of ground, very feminine in outlook, profile movement was excellent, another who is not the finished article yet.
2nd: 453 FOSTER, Mr T & Mrs S Viridis Shirrells, different type, tall w/br 4 y/o, rather less angulation than 1 but it is all well balanced front to rear, bit narrow in front, nice dark eye and fine ears, moved quite well though a touch untidy in front.
3rd: 487 WEBB, Mrs Karen Mischran Tissaia at Parsax
Class 166 LB (7 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: 444 DAWSON, Mr Nigel & DAWSON, Mrs Elizabeth & DAWSON, Stubbylee Chiara Mia, w/s/br, litter sister to the PG winner and many of the same remarks apply, this one has a lovely refined feminine head, again an excellent front and nice strong rear, good depth of chest. Very nice light, free movement.
2nd: 488 WEBB, Mrs Karen Mischran Calanthe at Parsax, very different type, self black, very elegant and with a refined head, more moderate in angulation than 1 but balanced front to rear, moved well enough all round, bit steep in fallaway. Rather upright in pastern and feet not her fortune.
3rd: 447 DONNELLY, Ms M Serenefol Amelia
Class 167 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 0
This was such a superb class, five lovely bitches any one of whom could have topped it on another day; this depth of quality in the bitches bodes very well for the future of the breed.
1st: 441 CLARE, Ms J Ryazan Vogue, this nearly 4 y/o w/c is very much the type I admire, lovely head with plenty of detail, good earset, super front with smooth transition from neck to shoulder, well made all through, standing over plenty of ground with a flowing topline and balanced fallaway, strong well-muscled rear which was used to good effect; just fills the eye with her classic outline. Still not quite fully mature but her overall intense quality and excellent movement won her this exceptional class and her second CC.
2nd: 459 JONSSON, Ms Elisabet Ch Lynx Jennifer Juniper, w/r with a really good front and forechest, feminine head with strong jaw, well ribbed up and good length of loin, correct fallaway, would prefer a touch more rear angulation but she is top quality and moved really well especially in profile
3rd: 443 DAWSON, Mr Nigel & DAWSON, Mrs Elizabeth & DAWSON, Ch Metel Avgusta Ala Azul At Stubbylee (Imp Rus) JW
