Bath Pastoral Group

Congratulations to the Bath team on another excellent show. The showground must rate as the best in the UK, and we were blessed with great weather.

I thought this was a very strong group, I struggled to keep the shortlist to a sensible number, many dogs I have or world happily award a CC to didn’t make the cut.

The finalists that didn’t quite manage a place were the Australian Cattle Dog, of such good breed type and proportions, moved v well. Australian Shepherd, who I gave CC & BOB to last year and I think looks even better now with extra maturity in body. Always gives 100% for his handler, Smooth Collie, ideal proportions and a v good mover with a super head, GSD, not exaggerated in any way, liked the proportions. Think would have looked better if allowed to move out faster on the final run off, Puli, one I have done well twice before, super proportions and so v typical on the move, Polish Lowland, she is the right size and right shape with a v easy movement.

My winner was the superb Border Collie Kanamaren Take These Pearls, (Mr M & Mrs A Greening), apparently winning her first CC. Liked her proportions, fem head, so very good to go over, accurate up and back and in profile she just floats round the ring with a long, low stride and perfect head carriage, thought her quite lovely.

2nd Ch Hawksflight Pure Envy with Domburg**, Breed: Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael) (Miss S & Mrs L Smith & Lester). Her outline, proportions and movement are just so very typical; She has a feminine head, Balanced and moderate in her angulation and carrying the right coat, just super.

3rd Ch Rannerdale Showmaster JW, Breed: Shetland Sheepdog (Miss C J Stafford)

He has a really good head and his outline is beautiful. Every part fits together so v well. Sound as they come.

4th Ch Gilcoru Wolfblass D'brie, Breed: Briard (Mrs N & Mrs L Rual Keogh & Rual) Going over this d the work rugged came straight into my mind. Solidly built, so balanced and with correct coat. Holds his tail well on the move. Completed a really lovely quartet.
