Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge this wonderful breed for the first time with CC’s. I was delighted with the entry. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors for the pleasure of your beautiful dogs and the sportsmanship around the ring. It is always a delight to judge the ‘flat coat’, their enthusiasm is quite infectious, and I spent most of the day grinning from ear to ear at their antics, and sustained the odd flat coat kiss! There are so many good points to the breed, which I will focus on, but there are a couple of areas I feel need to be watched. For the future, bear in mind – tight and level bites, forequarters the lack of forechest and length of upper arm, flat and splayed feet. A huge thank you to my two very efficient stewards, who keep the ring moving nicely for me, and kept me in order!

Liked the overall balance of this 2 year old dog, he has a lovely flow from nose to tail. His head is masculine and nicely moulded with a lovely dark eye and kind expression. He has good depth and enough forechest, with a ribcage that is carried well back. Strong and muscular hindquarters with a good width of thigh and bend to the stifle. Nicely boned limbs, would like slightly tighter feet. Moving out soundly and showing his happy nature

2nd: PERRY, Mrs Kathryn & PERRY, Mr Bernard Glenturret Bumbleberry Pie for Casanjay

Lovely 13 month old liver dog, not quite the maturity through the body as winner. Lovely moulded head, with good proportions, eye colour harmonising with coat, small well set on ears, he has a really cheeky and endearing expression. Good length of neck, brisket down to the elbow, correct spring to the ribs and short loin. Not quite the width of thigh of winner. Happy and positive mover

A little loose on the move at present, showing her happy personality.
