Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this super show. It is always a great pleasure to be able to judge at Malvern it is such a beautiful venue. The weather was very hot and sticky, and this may have affected some of the dogs and final placings, that said, I was spoilt for choice right through the classes, they were all a really credit to you. A huge thank you to my two very efficient stewards, who kept everything flowing fabulously.

1st Place Kamaze Dance in The Dark (Mr P W Disney)

Very smart and upstanding 13 month old dog. When stood he presents a picture of balance and substance. His head is a fraction stronger, but still shows good length to the foreface, with well fitting flews and he has a lovely expression from his dark mischievous eyes. His neck is muscular and strong, lovely spring to the ribcage and a firm topline to a well set on tail. Standing on well boned limbs and neat feet. A little distracted on the move as he had his ‘muppet’ head on! He has a pleasing side gait and drive from the rear, pinning in slightly in front today. Shown in good coat and condition.

1st Place Darkensky Supremacy (Miss S J James)

Keen and alert 3 year old dog, he is workmanlike with a hint of masculine elegance. Nothing is overdone, all in moderation. He has a pleasing head, which is well proportioned, with good backskull to foreface ratios, expressive raised eyebrows, and a dark kind eye. Clean neck of good length flowing into a firm well held topline. Enough depth to the brisket, and a nice spring to the ribcage, strong well coupled loin. Moderate hindquarters, would like a fraction more width of thigh. Moved with purpose and at one with his handler

2nd Place Foxy Gabber Uut 't Vossebeltseveld for Kamaze (Imp Nld) (Mrs K & Mr R Caile)

Close up to 1st, quite striking 20 month old dog, but of a different stamp to winner. He has a pleasing outline when stood. Masculine head which is nicely balanced, his dark eyes giving an alert and kind expression. Strong neck flowing smoothly into a well held topline. Still needing to drop a little more, ribs show a good spring, loin a fraction longer and a little steeper in croup. Showing powerful movement

1st Place Sh Ch Crumpsbrook Woodrush (Ms J E & Mr A E Powell & Murrell)

So much to admire on this handsome, mature and in full bloom dog, coming up 6 years of age. Beautifully presented and in lovely condition. He has a clean and flowing outline when stacked, so well balanced and full of quality. Masculine and balanced head, with a good length to the foreface and slight rounding to the backskull, his dark eyes give a kind and gentle expression. He has a flow from nose to tail. Well developed through the body, showing a nice spring to the ribs, which are carried well back . Hindquarters have a good width of thigh and bend of stifle with low set hocks. Moving out true in all directions. Today just lacked a little drive so had to settle for RBD

2nd Place Darkensky Prometheus JW (Miss S J James)

Striking marked 6 year old dog, very smart in his outline, with pleasing body proportions. He has the desired strength all through. Balanced head piece, good length to the foreface, high set ears, tight well shaped eye, a shade lighter brown, not detracting from his keen and gentle expression. Strong neck into a firm topline, liked his depth and development of forechest. More moderate in his hindquarters. Moving out well, a little untidy behind today

3rd Place Ekkolander Dark Madness at Leriton (Ms C & Mrs L Simpson & Johnston)

1st Place Sh Ch Wonglepong Wills Faramir (Mr P W Disney)

Unmistakably masculine 8 year old dog, built on a slightly larger frame but so well balanced and stands over the ground well. He is sturdy, muscular, and well put together, showing himself off with confidence and style. His head is balanced and in proportion to his body. Overall nicely elongated, high set ears and dark expressive eyes. His neck is muscular and slightly arched, flowing seamlessly into a firm topline and correct set on tail. Showing to be well developed through the body with a good ribcage. Nicely boned limbs and tight feet. Hindquarters are strong and muscular with a nice bend at the stifle. Moving out cleanly and with good drive - BD

1st Place Tarkanya Ritas Ruby (Mr A & Mrs L Robins)

Flashily marked, very raw 7 month old bitch, but just right for her age. When she stands you can see it is all there, she has a pleasing outline. All in proportion and moderation. She has a lovely feminine head, with good ratios, strength to the foreface and a gentle dark eye. Good length of neck and holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Still needing to fill her frame as you would expect. A little loose at present on the move, but shows good drive - BP

1st Place Tureagh Crystal Cider (Ms J E & Mr A E Powell & Murrell)

Very feminine 2 year old bitch, who presents a typical square outline when stacked. She has the desired strength but also elegance. Pleasing head, of good proportions, slightly rounded and gentle rise from foreface. Her dark eyes give an intelligent and gentle expression. She has enough depth, good width in front, well sprung ribcage, which is carried well back to a well coupled loin. Moderate in her hindquarters. Holding herself well in her profile action, a fraction close behind but with a nice front action. Well presented in firm condition.

2nd Place Ekkolander Persephone Red at Leriton (Ms C & Mrs L Simpson & Johnston)

Flashy 2 year old bitch, who has a little more range to her outline and in her underwear! Liked her overall size and make, and she is very keen and alert. Her head is balanced with a good length of foreface. Kind dark eyes, showing devotion to her handler but also a hint of mischief. Holding a lovely firm topline and a well set on and carried tail. Not quite the body of winner. Showed nice drive on the move.

2 beautiful bitches, both very deserving

1st Place Ch Raycris The Temptress (Mrs C & Dr R A W Ogle & Suchett-Kaye)

Full of quality and workmanlike unexaggerated symmetry on this bitch who is coming up 4 years of age. She is from a slightly larger mould, but is so well balanced and retains her femininity. So very pleasing to the eye, as she has a lovely flow about her. She has a balanced head shape, showing the correct elongated shape and good ratios. Lovely dark eye, with a kind and devoted expression. Clean neck with a slight arch, flowing seamlessly into well placed shoulders. Her ribcage is well sprung to give the desired heartroom, a fraction longer in loin, but held a super firm topline both stood and on the move. Slight slope to the croup and well set on tail which was carried horizontally. Wide and muscular hindquarters which she put to go use on the move, such a free and easy side gait, covering the ground effortlessly – BB & BOB

2nd Place Sh Ch Quilesta Simply Exquisite (Miss V Wilkins)

Wish I had another 1st place card to award, another super quality 4 year old bitch. Thought she was just lovely for her overall size, substance, and femininity. She has an appealing head, well shaped backskull, strength to the foreface, and those lovely dark eyes. She has good depth to the brisket and well filled in forechest, correctly sprung ribs carried well back. She stands on well boned limbs and neat feet. Would like a fraction more width of thigh to finish the picture. She holds a lovely shape on the move, but not the reach and drive today of the winner, but it was bloomin hot! Beautifully presented and handled - RBB

A real pleasure to have had to honour of judging these beautiful veteran bitches

1st Place Sh Ch Brockchime Besta Both to Incadar VW Rl2 (Mr G T & Mrs J Darby)

WOW, at 11 ½ years old this bitch can still turn heads. Showing lovely overall balance and as fit as a fiddle. She just made me smile, those lovely grey hairs in her eyebrows giving her such a distinguished look. She has a strong neck with flows beautifully into a firm and level topline, to a well set on and carried tail. Good spring to the ribcage, and the ribs are carried well back to a strong loin. Stands on well boned limbs and tight feet. A happy and free mover a pleasure to watch.

2nd Place Sh Ch Destanli Jedda's Diamond (Mr A & Mrs L Robins)

Another fab veteran, 8 years young and looking in fine form. Thought her just right for size and balance. She has a shapely silhouette with flowing body lines. Feminine head, of good length and dark intelligent eyes. Clean through the neck, with good width in front and a lovely spring to the ribs, holding a firm topline. Moderate in her hindquarters, well developed muscletone. Today not quite as tidy behind as winner, but moved with drive.
