Border Union Agricultural Society

Breed: Basenji

Many thanks to the sporting Basenji exhibitors who waited around all day in the heat and were very patient waiting for my to finish the 3 breeds ahead of them. Thank you for bringing such a lovely group of dogs for me to judge, I thoroughly enjoyed judging them and was delighted with the quality present when there were no CC’s on offer.

1ST The Impossible Girl of Alchez (Ms C J & Mr T F Casentieri)

Smart Tri bitch with an excellent head and expression, well hooded ears. Lengthy neck leading into well laid back shoulders. Preferred her hind angulation to 2nd which gave her plenty of drive on the move where she was brisk and accurate coming and going and covered plenty of ground in profile. Wouldn’t want her any bigger. RBB

2ND Memetuka Calamity Jane (Mrs V L Gaskell)

Red and White bitch with a good head with small tidy ears. Well laid shoulder and balanced hind angulation. Felt she was a little short in upper arm which affected her front movement where she was a little high stepping at times. Lovely size and correct proportions.

1ST Alchez Best Life TAF (Ms C J & Mr T F Casentieri)

Tall Tri Dog who excelled on the move. Liked his head and expression with plenty of cushioning and well hooded ears. Lengthy crested neck leading into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Well ribbed back with good top and underline. Excellent rear angulation which he used well on the move. Brisk movement with good reach and drive in profile. RBD

2ND Memetuka Secret Smile (Mrs V L Gaskell)

Red and White bitch who has a lovely head and with correct eye and good ears giving a lovely expression. Well laid shoulders, well sprung ribs with deep brisket and correct top and underline. Moderate bend to stifles and well let down hocks. Moved well with ground covering stride. Would prefer a tighter tail.

1ST Ch Tokaji Moon over Miami with Mutoko JW (Mrs P Nash)

Thought this super smart tri bitch was just lovely and in such good condition. Lovely head with correct cushioning to cheeks, small well hooded ears. Lengthy crested neck which she holds so well both stacked and on the move. Well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Well sprung ribs, good top and underline and really well angulated hind quarters with long 2nd thigh which gave her the typical swinging gait. Covered lots of ground on the move with her lovely stride which she makes look effortless. BB and BOB

2ND Ch Swanwite Take A Chance On Me (Mrs I Legget)

Red & White 4 yr old dog with an excellent head and expression, good cushioning and small hooded ears. Well angulated both fore and aft with good ribbing and in hard condition. Moves so well out and back and covers the ground in profile. Close up to 1st but just felt he could have opened up a bit more on the move. BD and BOS

1ST Ch Swanwite Karaleigh ShCM (Mrs I Legget)

10yr old red and white bitch of a lovely type and not showing her age at all. Attractive head with good ears. Lengthy crested neck leading into well laid shoulder and good upper arm. Well angulated rear. Good tail with plenty of buttock behind. Moved really well, showing plenty of reach and drive in profile. BVIB and delighted to see her go on to Hound Veteran Group 3.

2ND Ch Hi-Lite Bulldobas Wild Child of Memetuka (Imp Fin) ShCM (Mrs V L Gaskell)

Another lovely red and white bitch who belied her 10 years. Of a more petite frame to 1 but correct proportions. Loved her head with dark eyes and good cushioning. Small well hooded ears, lengthy crested neck. Slightly more upright in shoulder than 1st. Excellent rear. Moved well with accurate out and back and a good swinging ground covering stride in profile.

3RD Woodella Hot Rod (Miss Jardine)
