SAMOYED BREEDERS AND OWNERS LEAGUE. 12 November 2023
My thanks to the Club and their hardworking secretary for the invitation. As I have never judged a breed club show before I was excited and have stayed away from the rings so I could cast a fresh eye on my favourite breed. I had a lovely entry and some classes presented a lovely challenge. I could have done with a few more green cards to give out. Both CCs went to Veterans which illustrates the ‘staying power’ of our breed.
Class 1 – Minor Puppy Dog (3 entries)
1st – Santaviga Another Jedi
Very well presented youngster. Well grown on with impressive rib and loin development. Broad skull with dark eyes; correctly placed ears. Well set on tail with good plume. Good angles both ends and lovely proportions for a minor puppy. Excellent prospect: with good handling, should go far. BPIS
2nd – Whitespirit Boogie Woogie
Pleasing to see another quality dog puppy.
Similar in outline and size to winner, with good rib cage and good bone. Well set on ambidextrous tail. Moving freely and the hard muscling showing in his precise stride. Quality coat texture and pattern. Preferred head of 1.
3rd – Annecy’s Mischievious Max
Having seen the breeding of this chap in the catalogue afterwards, I would say that at six months old he is very typical of it. He comes from lines of very slow maturers and will change a lot in the next twelve months. He was beautifully presented, has lovely dark points and is well boned. He coped admirably with the environment. Good luck to his young handler.
Class 3 – Junior dog (2 entries)
1st – Rosnorske Royal Aster
Rather light in body and coat but Very attractive head, good reach of neck and a good showman. He won here on overall balance and lovely foot fall, his stride being totally equal. Once he grows up, will be a lovely boy.
2nd – Vandreem Imperial Breeze Over Berezniki
Very attractive prospect, well presented and coated. Broad head and dark points. Rather unruly on the move and not the overall balance of 1.
Class 4 – Yearling Dog (1 entry)
1st – Holy Archie Orleansnow (Imp Cze)
So much to like about this young man. Broad head, almond eye, small thick ears. Excellent for bone and rib. Well angulated both ends with good feet. Mobile tail. Well coated although lacking some body coat I felt. Smiling expression. Moving with reach and drive, well balanced and a lovely side gait. Well handled and quite a showman. Quite taken with him; just needs to mature a bit more.
Class 5 – Post Graduate Dog (0 entries)
Class 6 – Mid Limit Dog (0 entries)
Class 7 – Limit Dog (8 entries, 2 absent)
1st – Bondsmoor Autumnal Breeze
Lovely for size and shape and good quality coat. Excellent boning and ribbing. Good expression. Well set tail. Sound fore and aft and a balanced side gait.
2nd – Tiksi Time After Time
A little slighter than 1 in overall built, but a similar shape. Lovely head with dark points and good back skull giving typical expression and going into good reach of neck and topline. Very well prepared with profuse leg and feet feathers. Moving out just enough to get this placing but would like to see him stride out and work at it a little more.
3rd – Lumistarr This Is How We Do It
Class 8 – Open Dog (3 entries)
Three worthy champions here and all ‘working their ticket’
1st – Ch Novaskaya Xander Lefay JW
Just my type of dog. Good for size and overall proportions. Just the right amount of bone and ribbing. Beautiful head shape and ear set. Smiling expression. Very sound on the out and back and with a balanced collected side gait. And enough character to play his owner up occasionally. Res CC
2nd – UK/IRE/NL/INT CH Vandreem Imperial Kazhiya JW
Stallion male with impressive outline although tail could be longer. Showing well and moving out with ease. Preferred size and shape of 1.
3rd – CH BEL CH INT CH Easy to Love Carpathian White Smile for Blossomrain
Another quality dog, very well prepared and moving out well, he wears his title well. Another showman who I have done well in the past.
Class 9 – Veteran Dog (5 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Altunha Northern Lights
A new one to me, a lovely pattern of male, well coated with a good plume. Excellent head with flat back skull and dark points. Good arch of neck and well ribbed back; strongly muscled and moving out with reach and drive. Lovely to go over and showing no age. CC
2nd – Furzeland Devon Blaze Avec Cocosamel
Heavily biscuit shaded and fabulous quality coat. I have seen him over the years and he has matured on well. Perhaps not as well ribbed as some and moving a little close accordingly, but he has a free stride and wears his years well. Very fit.
3rd – Nikitta Silver Starchief at Trusam JW
Sad that there were no puppy bitches.
Class 12 – Junior Bitch (5 entries, 3 absent)
1st – Rosskaja Donatella Versace
Really up to size but overall balance, leg length and free movement won her this class. Pretty feminine head and pretty almond eyes.
2nd – Taronakits It’s Kaboo for Frostia
At the other end of the size range, still correct. Pretty feminine head and well coated. Slightly longer in loin than I would prefer. Moving freely, well boned. And good feet.
Class 13 – Yearling Bitch (7 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Taronakits It’s Kayanova JW
Lovely at 22 months. Good overall proportions and classic outline. Typical and attractive head and smiling expression. Good double coat and excellent feet. Good for size and bone and excellent muscled loin and thighs. Good double coat although some undercoat making a bid for freedom.
2nd – TI Amo Boschi Vechhi For Dynar (Imp Ita) JW RMS JCH
Excellent presentation and well schooled, standing four square with no help. Good neck and body; good front with good length and return of upper arm, which was not prevalent in the breed today. Angles are balanced so she moves out freely and shows lovely side gait. Dense pigment and generally so much to like.
3rd – Rosskaja Donatella Versace

Class 14 – Post Graduate Bitch (7 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Lunnyi Veter Breeze Of Love For Blossomrain (Imp Rus)
Well presented girl who gives a lovely picture. I would prefer a bit smaller overall, but the balance is undeniable. Plush double coat and well set front. Pasterns OK. Moving soundly and freely.
2nd – Khorobroi Maybe Mayhem By Whitespirit
Super make and shape with a lot to like. Plush double coat and excellent proportions. Good feet and well set tail. Lovely to go over and moving so soundly.
3rd – Taronakits It’s Kalyra At Samarind JW
Class 14 – Mid Limit Bitch (5 entries, 2 absent)
1st – Bondsmoor Kiss Me Kate JW
Very typical of coloured dogs in our breed, she presents a good overall outline and proportions. Excels in free movement and balanced stride, moving with drive. Lovely long tail which is much prized in our breed. Prettiest of heads. ResCC
2nd – Rosskaja Silver Star Fire at Trusam
Well coated and well boned; does not need any more weight. Lovely size and appealing head with smiling expression. Moving out soundly; potential and essentials to be an excellent mover.
3rd – Bondsmoor Autumnal Rainbow
Class 15 – Limit Bitch (8 entries, 3 absent)
1st – Tiksi Forget Me Not
Fabulous presentation on this feminine girl. Correct size and overall shape. Dense points and lovely eye shape and head properties. Good arch of neck and solid topline. Lovely overall proportions and another lovely long tail.
2nd – Silbertips Star Attraction At Zakaytia (AI)
Plush double coat on this girl and so well prepared. Vocal, which is not a problem if you know the breed and it does not affect movement. She has a good body and coupling with good muscling. Sound fore and aft. Snow nose, which again in acceptable and almond eyes. I preferred ear set of 1.
3rd – Mangata Jade Knight
Class 16 – Open Bitch (9 entries, 1 absent)
Lovely class with many quality champions.
1st – CH Nikara Neverending Dream for Frostia
So full of character and showing so well. Loved her head with excellent pigment; a lot to say for herself. Very well coated and prepared well. Long tail. Moving out with enthusiasm , soundly and freely. Good bone, coupling and rib.
2nd – Rosnorske Royal Amethyst
Very attractive and correct profile. Good double coat, excellent bone, rib and coupling. Excellent tail set. Preferred head and ears of 1.
3rd – Ch Nikara Secret Love By Norjack JW
Class 18 – Veteran Bitch (6 entries, 1 absent)
1st – Whitespirit Madam Mischief
Presenting a good profile and lovely to go over. Not the flashiest of coats and very workmanlike in attitude, she reminded me so much of some of the champions of the past. Not flashy but so very correct. Strongly built throughout and with good proportions, she is well muscled as well. CC I understand this makes her up – Congratulations.
2nd – Kalinksi Dushka Maia
Slightly smaller girl but still in standard. A lovely head and expression. Good double coat and excellent featherings. Good rib and coupling. Moving out freely,
3rd – Ch Zeelukzak Ice’N Glorious At Zakaytia JW VW
