IRISH RED & WHITE SETTER
Thanks to SKC, my steward and the exhibitors for showing their dogs to me. I am very fond of this breed and always appreciate the chance to judge them.
With an entry of only 14 dogs, it is clearly not possible to get a “feel for the breed” as a whole. I can say that all the exhibits had correct colour and even inside it was possible to see the quality of both the red and the white.
I was happy with my winners and pleased to see the BOB shortlisted in a very competitive group.

Class 933 JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1939 TATTERSALL, Mrs A ALANEA MIRROR IMAGE
16m/o beautiful boy. Is very correct for his age and stage of development. A very nice head and expression and it was a nice way to start my breed judging. Still young, with developing to do, but will carry a title when mature.

Class 935 LD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
The only entry was withdrawn, as he was not happy, and it would have been unfair and inappropriate to push him to be examined. I do hope this exhibitor works with him to get over this issue as I thought he was a lovely dogs in the picture. Good luck with this as he is a lovely specimen.

Class 936 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 0
4 lovely dogs in this class – all with merit and much to offer the breed:

1st: 1942 TITTERTON, Mr & Mrs John Spyefire Reyt Bobby Dazzler
This is a very lovely dog with a handler who obviously adores him (and he adores her) but who needs to continue to work on showing this boy to advantage. From a well-known kennel who has consistently produced dogs I have admired since I first got involved in the breed and this is another with that lovely stamp.
Correct balance front and rear with a tidy front assembly and a nice rear end. Very handsome in head and expression and correct size and substance. Moved just well enough for me to see what I needed, and it was a worthy CC winner. I can see this boy with a title. His handler just needs to practice, take her time, but mostly – continue to just enjoy the great pleasure we get from showing our dogs. It will come together. Congratulations again.

2nd: 1943 WHITAKER, Miss M M Oldstone Caught In The Act at Viewland
A lovely, typical IRWS and at 7y/o is now in his prime. Another with a nice overall make and shape and has a lovely head with the correct round eye which gives the required expression. Balances well front and rear. Moved OK in this small indoor ring. I suspect he can go much better outdoors. RCC

3rd: 1936 MARTIN, Mr & Mrs S. M LAOIREBAY STEEL BLUE OCEAN AT SHANNONSTYLE JW

Class 937 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1932 COLLINS, Mrs Lynn & COLLINS, Mr Paul Sh Ch Romaunt Bloomin Grand at Forestpoint
7 ½ y/o dog of good type. Correct head, and eye giving that typical expression. Presented a nice picture and I particularly liked his rear movement. BV.

Class 939 GCD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1936 MARTIN, Mr & Mrs S. M LAOIREBAY STEEL BLUE OCEAN AT SHANNONSTYLE JW
3rd in the Open Dog class, another nicely balanced dog. Nice flow through the head and neck into a correct topline. Would have preferred a rounder eye to help with the expression, but another worthy dog.

2nd: 1932 COLLINS, Mrs Lynn & COLLINS, Mr Paul Sh Ch Romaunt Bloomin Grand at Forestpoint
1st in Veteran Dog

Class 941 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1940 TATTERSALL, Mrs A ALANEA SAVANNAH
16m/o bitch, with a correct front and rear. Stands on good legsand feet and moved steadily. Another youngster who just needs time to finish the picture.

2nd: 1938 SKENE, Miss Rhona Gail Rubethan Cake it or Leave it
14m/o bitch who is finer all through that my winner and not quite the front. Very pretty head and expression and needs time to mature. Moved OK.

Class 942 PGB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1937 O’NEILL, Miss Sarah Mavoureen Shadow Dog (Imp Pol)
2y/o bitch with a nice head and correct expression. Balances front and rear. Moved OK, but another exhibitor that just needs to practice more to get the best out of her charge.

Class 943 LB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1935 HART, Mr & Mrs Gill & Graham Berryessa Ballderg with Gilliegrae
3y/o bitch of nice make and shape and correct colour. Moved steadily and particularly scores in rear, which allowed her to drive better than many in the ring today. Very nice and another, all being equal, with a title in the (very near) future.

Class 944 OB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1934 GARDNER, Miss T Sh Ch Charnborough Charisma Of Danwish JW
3y/o bitch from another well-known and long-standing kennel, who has consistently produced correct, typical IRWS. and a comfortable winner of the breed today. Correct colour, and nicely balanced front and rear. Moves well and with purpose. Glad to see her shortlisted in the group. CC/BOB.
