Border Union Agricultural Society

Breed: BIS
I was truly honored to receive this BIS invite a few years ago, then covid postponed the original day. Border union has given me multiple wonderful memories over the years both in and out of the ring. My first memory as a child was sitting in the old grandstand watching BIS and seeing the wonderful American imported beagle “corkie” being piloted to the top spot by Geoff Corish and owned by the famous Rossut kennel, Mrs and Mrs Sutton in the early 80’s, thinking how amazing it would be to be in that very ring.. Fast forward to 2023 and the show is still a firm favorite of mine where the layout really hasn’t altered and still works so well for exhibitors.. My fellow group judges had sent me a good selection of dogs, all in great condition and putting on a lovely performance representing their Group. For me my winner commanded attention from the minute she entered the ring with her merry nature and ever wagging tail to put in a lovely performance throughout. Sh Ch Oktumi Opalescence, a beautiful feminine cocker bitch with a clean chiseled head piece, lovely full bright eyes giving a gentle expression.compact, cobby body with big ribs, deep chest, super bone and feet. What i loved about her was her clean balanced but not exaggerated outline, she was presented in wonderful muscular and coat condition. She moves with lovely drive, excellent topline and the typical merry action called for. Had no hesitation awarding her the top spot which I believe was a first for her and her clever handler. Reserve BIS was the Australian shepherd Ch Brighttouch Drift The Line Through Dialynne (Imp Rus), like my winner shown in tip condition and put on a faultless performance. He has a flat skull with a clean cut head and definite stop, high set ears. Straight forelegs with correct oval bone, compact feet, has depth to his chest but not overdone, excellent firm level topline, well angled rear with low set hocks. In profile he moves with a smooth easy gait holding his shape at all times and is clear to see has a super bond with his handler who gets the best out of him. Judge Gavin Robertson
