Irish Setter Critique

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge our beautiful breed at this show.

Also many thanks to my stewards Marion and Sian for keeping everything running smoothly. I have not been in or sat round a ring during the past three years. My dog showing involvement being trophy secretary and part of the catering team these days. I was therefore seeing many of the exhibits for the first time with fresh eyes,and look forward to following their show careers.

MPD. (10) 1 Cole's Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby. Lovely gentle expression well balanced with good depth for age,dark coat correct tail carriage,good bend of stifle and neat feet. 2 Levene & Lewis's Quensha Remember The Name. Dark eye and coat,straight front good depth not as balanced as 1 at this age, good tail set and bend of stifle.3 Parsons' Quensha Thinking Out Loud at Bransett.PD. (4) 1 Cole's Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby. 2 Milligan-Bott & Bott's Thendara Big Love appropriately named big boy not as balanced as 1 darkcoat, darkeye good depth straight front good bend of stifle and tail carriage. 3 Rorke's Zakhan's Diamond Jack. YD (4/1) 1 Macaulay's Harreds Lachian At Stylersetts Balanced outline elegant neck and shoulders into sloping topline, straight front good depth correct tailset bend of stifle and neat feet. 2 Foster's Chantries Bei Re. Well defined stop dark eye and low set ears, dark coat correct tail set and bend of stifle. 3 Tuite's Porschet Out and About. GD. (6/1) The dogs semed to sense something we couldn't in this class and were unsettled. 1 Coreless's Swiftlark Spellbinder. Gentle expression square muzzle dark eye,elegant neck into well laid back shoulders dark coat good depth tail set and bend of stifle neat feet. 2 Bentley's Astleyview Coming Home To Penclippin good neck and shoulders into sloping topline correct tail set bend of stifle and neat feet needs to carry more weight. 3 Berry, Morris and Fitzmaurice's Brinara Country Boy.PGD. (10/4) Gisby's Suteresett Rum Tum Tugger. Slightly worried expression dark eyes raised brows and low set ears, balanced with good depth tail set and bend of stifle neat feet dark coat with thick feathering. 2 Smith's Sametsue Your My Hero. Slightly more quizzical expression dark eyes and low set ears good depth bend of stifle and neat feet, straight coat with good feathering. 3 Hemmings Orlanset Mandolin. LD (9/2) Lorrimer's Kerrimere Classique JW. This dog has a beautiful head and expression, lovely chiseling dark eyes low set ears.well sprung ribs, good depth sloping topline into tail set good bend of stifle, neat feet straight well feathered gleaming coat moves with drive. CC 2 Gisby's Suteresett King Of Hearts another lovely dog with dark coat lovely furnishings deep chest good top line and tail set bend of stifle and neat feet also moves with drive lovely head just not quite the melting expression of one. 3 Milligan-Bott & Bott Thendara Tiger Dance. OD (5) 1 Edward's Sh Ch Gwenda riff Ucan'tmissme Bonhomie Won this class on movement another shown in gleaming condition beautiful coat and feathering, elegant dog with low set ears raised brows and dark almond eye, straight front well sprung ribs, good reach of neck into sloping shoulders and topline correct tail set and good bend of stifle neat feet. RDCC 2 Bott Allen& Morgan's Sh Ch Quensha Take A Bow Smaller beautifully balanced dog lovely outline,dark almond eyes raised brows low set ears, correct tail set neat feet also in good coat and feathering. 3 Int Ch/ch Oakdene Que Du Bonheur Jch all worthy champions.VD (3/1) Russell's Strathmead Huckleberry of Settesoli.Two seven year old dogs with only a month between them,low set ears dark almond eyes (would prefer squarer muzzle) good reach of neck into sloping shoulders and topline, ,well sprung ribs, good depth bend ofstifle and feet. 2 Pym's Thendara The Watchmaker. Broader head but also dark almond eyes and low set earsgood bend of stifle correct tail set dark coat with lots of furnishings. SBD (2) Corless's Swiftlark Spellbinder,(1st in Grad) 2 Bromwich's Pengelirish Lord Nicodemus a little nervous today,square muzzle low set ears good depth and bend of stifle correct tail set. GCDS (4) 1 Riverbrue Be Here Now. Soft expression low set ears balanced with good shoulders correct tail set he did not like crossing the lines on the padded floor but moved better when going straight up and down! 2 Waterton's ShCM Sandstream Welcome Breeze sweet feminine bitch but showing her age now.good lay back of shoulders into sloping topline plenty of furnishings good bend of stifle, when challenging for Veteran unfortunately stiff on her left rear leg.3 Berry, Morris and Fitmaurice's Brinara Country Boy.

I was splitting hairs when it came to the line up the main contenders all drove round the ring, in the end it was that melting head and expression that made the decision.

MPB (9/2) 1 Leach's Riverbrue Ophelia Jubbly (I see my first second and Best dog puppy are all from the same litter)pretty head with square muzzle and soft expression, balanced for her age good reach of neck into sloping topline good bend of stifle and tail set.2 Hall's Riverbrue Ophelia love Glennara. dark eye low set ears nice balanced shape with some depth already, good reach of neck into shoulders and good bend of stifle. 3 Bentley's Penclippin Celtic Asthore.

What a lovely bitch super outline so balanced for age, pretty head so feminine all over straight front good toplinecorrect tail set and good bend of stifle loved her. 2 Jone's Gwendariff Diamonds Will Do.Elegant bitch different type good neck and shoulders raised brows and low set ears straight front good bend of stifle her golden feathering and straight coat reminded me of the Emmafield breeding back in the early 70's 3 Holley's Gwendariff Thistle Be Jills at Wynjill.YB.(6) 1 Tuite's Porschet kiss For A Rose,Another pretty feminine bitch, lovely outline good reach of neck into sloping topline and tail set sweet expression. 2 Clarke's Covarney Dream time from Bronnians. Elegant type dark eyes low ears and square muzzle, straight front good bend of stifle a well feathered straight coat.3 hall's Glennara Cherry Cola. GB (7/2)Box's Fernstart Hearts Delight JW. 1.Loved this girl too, lovely outline petite feminine bitch, good reach of neck good depth sloping topline into correct tail set, good bend of stifle pretty head lovely dark eyes. 2 Parson's Forfarian Flutter Yer Lashes at Branset. Taller elegant good reach of neck into shoulders topline and tailset,good depth square muzzle and low set ears.3 Bayne's Corranroo Rainbow Shimmer. PGB(6/1)Bott Allen & Morgan's Quensha Crime of Passion.. Low set ears lovely dark eyes good reach of neck into shoulders, good depth correct tailset and good bend of stifle neat feet.2 Humphrey's Aloifrana Miss Daisy at Henaleas(ai) JW. Good depth lovely dark eyes low set ears good reach of neck into shoulders correct tailset and good bend of stifle. 3 Walter's Gwendariff Yella Jumper. LB (11/3) This was a super class some lovely bitches I was spoilt for choice. 1 Holley's Gwendaiff Look This Way to Wynjill JW.Lovely outline beautifully balanced low set ears good reach of neck super shoulders and depth good bend of stifle correct tail set. CC 2 Frampton & Piggin's Riverbrue Cloudburst over Strathmead Lovely bitch such an appealing head good reach of neck into shoulders and topline good depth and bend of stifle, slightly longer than 1 but I was splitting hairs. RCC 3 Edwards's Gwendariff its Numero Uno at Bonhomie JW. All moved with drive and could swop places on another day. OB (6) 1 Sh Ch Riverbrue Gloriana Beautifully presented bitch this kennel is definitely making its mark in the ring. Elegant neck into sloping shoulders and top line correct tailset good depth, bend of stifle balanced low set ears good pigmentation. 2 Elkin's Twoacres Promise of Spring with Avacet. smaller bitch pretty feminine head with low set ears and dark eyes correct tailset bend of stifle neat feet balanced nothing exaggerated. 3 Bougen's Lily The Pink. SBB (2/1) Corless's Swiftlark Illustrious JWStood alone but deserved her 1st prize sweet head nice in outline good bend of stifle and tailset dark coat feminine bitch.
