Driffield Championship Dog Show

Breed: Bichon Frise
Driffield Championship Dog Show 2023 - Bichon Frise Many thanks to John and Trevor, my stewards for keeping me on the right track and also to the Bichon exhibitors for this good entry. I am acutely aware of the time and effort which you all put into the presentation of your dogs & am most grateful to have had the opportunity to judge them. Class 784 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1546 BURNETT, Mrs Sue Wolimorb When Stars Align, very smart youngster; coming together nicely. Correct head and eye, good pigment and an excellent expression. Enough neck and firm topline; well set and carried tail. Sound and accurate on the move & in good, fit muscular condition. Not so collected as the bitch when challenging for BPIB, but a lovely puppy. Excellent coat presentation and texture. BPD. JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1553 GRANTHAM, Mr Aaron Clarke Deizi Yabba Dabba Doozie at Lake Giants, admirable sort of dog, for his shape and balance. Good head and eye, pigment just dark enough & his expression was full of life! Enough neck, some depth to his chest & good ribbing. In excellent muscular condition as were most of this entry, and a sound mover in profile. Can still firm a touch up and back, but he is a promising youngster. BSBIB. SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1553 GRANTHAM, Mr Aaron Clarke Deizi Yabba Dabba Doozie at Lake Giants, see 1st Junior Dog. 2nd: 1546 BURNETT, Mrs Sue Wolimorb When Stars Align, see 1st PD. PGD (3 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1552 GLOVER, Mrs LYNN Freddie its a kind of magic, I liked the outline on this dog, who whilst not being the biggest of males; is generally balanced and typical. I liked his head and eye, would prefer a touch more neck to enhance his outline even further; but he carries himself well on the move and was turned out and handled in first class order. 2nd: 1544 ASPINALL, Mrs Charlotte Sherrosea Future Hopes, close up to the winner in many respects & I admired his head and outline too. Good to go over and all of a piece, not quite the carriage on the move as the winner & can firm up a touch I thought; but another who was put down in first class order and well pigmented throughout. 3rd: 1561 WILSON, Miss D Alizo Everyone Is Mad Here OD (5 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 1549 COAD, Mr M & SANGHOON-LEE, Mr P & NAM, Mr S US Ch & Ch Holdsway Lion King (Imp), a class act; caught my eye for his shape and arresting outline, much to admire in terms of head and expression, excellent pigment and balance to skull. So well made, excellent foreheand and chest, super topline and tailset & uses himself so well on the move. Very accurate up and back and carries himself with great poise in profile. BD & BOB, pleased to see him shortlisted in the group. 2nd: 1547 CARR, Mrs Deb Ch Daveyluvs D' Artagnan JW, another very nice dog and shares many of the same attributes, not surprised to see he is titled & he certainly looks every inch the champion he is. Balanced head and beautiful expression, well made forehand and firm topline; neat underline & well set and carried tail. In first class coat and condition; when asked to move he goes with a free, easy action & cannot fail to catch the eye. RBD. 3rd: 1556 PIKE, Ms JANE & CARTER, MR P CARTIKES MIDNIGHT MADNESS PB (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 1557 PIKE, Ms JANE & CARTER, MR P CARTIKES AFTER MIDNIGHT, beautiful baby showing lots of promise. A real madam! Much to admire and she has all the essentials to take her to the top; loved her head and eye, super pigment. Well balanced throughout, admirable for her shape and type; she is both good to go over and all of a piece. Very sound and accurate on the move for her age. A lovely prospect. BPIB & TPG3. 2nd: 1545 ASPINALL, Mrs Charlotte Eithlynn Grateful Heart, another lovely puppy with a lot going for her. She is pretty, well balanced and shapely. To go over on the table, at this stage of her development, there is little to change. Very expressive & well pigmented. On the move she really does have a mind of her own and was adamant she was going to have fun (as she should do at this age!), when she grows up and settles, she will have many good days for her sporting owner. Excellent presentation. JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1550 CURTIS, Mrs Debra Jane SHERBET SORBET, very nice bitch, if a touch larger than I might prefer. I liked her head and eye, perhaps a touch stronger than ideal; but it is still attractive. Enough forehand, could have a mite more chest but she is firm in topline and is well ribbed. Carries herself well on the move, just needs to use her tail a touch more and go with a little more confidence, but I understand she has recently had a fright from which she is recovering. Sympathetically handled to encourage her and bring the best out of her by her sporting owner. SBB (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1550 CURTIS, Mrs Debra Jane SHERBET SORBET, see 1st JB. OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 1548 CARR, Mrs Deb Ch Daveyluvs hot tramp i luv u so, very little to separate these two lovely top flight bitches; loved her head and eye, super expression and balance to skull. Excellent neck and forehand, firm topline & excellent tail for both set and carriage. Beautifully presented in a jacket of correct texture; sound and free on the move and handled to get the best out of her at all times. BB. 2nd: 1554 MARQUISS, Mrs A Ch Quissmar Chasing Lightning, another who I am not surprised to see is titled, a treat to judge two such lovely girls; excellent head and eye, super pigment; beautiful outline standing and moving. Goes with an effortless stride. Well made throughout and close up to the winner in many respects. I am sure they will change places often. RBB. Evan L Ryan (Judge)
