HIGHAM JUNIOR STAKES DAY 2 Gundog/Terrier

Judge: Mrs D Stewart-Ritchie

Class: A.V. GUNDOG AND TERRIER JUNIOR DOG (11,8)

1st: Thompson-Morgan’s BELLEVILLE PLAYMATE Norfolk Terrier. Quality junior who is oozing breed type. Put down to perfection with the best of muscling and such a cracking coat. Delightful head with dark, oval eyes and fab expression of liveliness and mischief. Well-proportioned in head with correct size, shape and set of ear. Really nice front assembly with complimentary rear. Strong and sturdy throughout, he is compact, strong and good in angulation. Full, well developed ribs and short and strong in rear pasterns too. Short, strong back with super tail set. Plenty behind the tail too. I liked his balanced outline, plenty of bone and substance. Moderate neck fitting nicely into well laid shoulders, level top-line, well ribbed, short strong loin and tail set on well. Moved so freely around the ring, with good reach in front and drive behind, maintaining correct topline and with good carriage. He’s from the top drawer!

2nd: Webb’s TENSHILLING JIMMY MACK JW Pointer. Oval bone and neat feet. Good in proportions. Pleasing in head with correct eye shape and good in expression. Has a good firm topline and good topline and tail set. Well ribbed, deep, long and well sprung. Good muscling and in good condition here today. Needs a bit more development in forehand. Moved with good carriage.

Class A.V. GUNDOG AND TERRIER JUNIOR BITCH (23,10)

1st Holland’s FERNDEL STARSHINE OVER FLATCHARM. Welsh SS. This quality bitch has the most glorious head - wow! Super balance all through, not over done in any way. Has plenty of definition and is good in stop and length of foreface to back skull. Well-placed vine shaped ears, good in eye and delightful expression. She has super shoulders and enough in forehand. Just needs to fill a shade more in front. Excellent ribbing, good loin and well developed rear with the best of first and second thighs. Moderate turn of stifle and quality bone and the best of feet. She has a super topline and tail set and carries herself so well on the move. She is surely one to watch.

2nd Ridyard’s KULAWAND WICKED WAFFLE. J.R.T. Another exciting youngster - this was such a tight decision between these two. Excellent in type with the best of balance and showmanship. She has a super head and expression and uses herself so well when in the ring - she is sure of herself. Nicely constructed and with ample bone and good feet. Maintains a good outline on the move at all times. Strong, rough, weatherproof coat. Excellent tail set. She’s a good ‘un.

3rd Satherley & Satherley’s SILKCROFT FORTUNE AND GLORY. Soft Coat WT.
