Darlington Dog Show 2023 – Scottish Terrier Judge: Mrs D Sharples (Thalion) Many thanks to Darlington Committee for inviting me to judge as a replacement for Robert Becquet who sadly passed away and to the exhibitors for travelling and exhibiting under me. Overall I found the breed had improved since I last judge, I found ears were better placed and shoulders were more correct. I did though, find that in some mouths the teeth were crowded which I had not seen previously, so we need to watch this. Veteran Dog (2)(1 absent) 1st Mrs C A Rutherford’s Ch. Carisco Follow Your Dreams, a 7 year old well balanced black dog in good coat and condition with plenty of substance, correct head, dark eye, well set ears, straight front, strong neck, well rounded ribs, low to ground, short back with level topline, correct rear angulation and moved with drive. Puppy Dog (1) 1st Mrs J Coley’s Evingbriar Bandman Bescott. Really loved this 6 month old black puppy dog. He has a super character, typical Scottie full of himself. Good head, dark eyes, neat well placed ears, straight front, correct shoulders, good ribs and low to ground, level topline, correct rear. Moved well around the ring. BPIB Junior Dog (0) Post Graduate Dog (2)(1 absent) 1st Mrs D Lockwood’s Filisite Brash Rare Treasure at Lochgems (Imp), 18mth old black dog, Short, very smart well balanced dog in good condition, good head, dark eye, well set ears, straight front, correct shoulder and neck, good ribs, level topline, short back, moved well. Limit Dog (1) 1st Miss E J Ashworth’s Russalan Crimson Coburn for Naviba. Well presented 2½ year old black dog in good condition. Correct head with a dark eye, good shoulder and neck, low to ground with ribs laid well back, correct rear angulation, A well balanced dog, moved well around the ring. Open Dog (5)(1 absent) 1st Mr W & Mrs M Kelly’s Ch. Carseview Mr Goodfella. Well presented 5 year old brindle male, a substantial dog with plenty of bone. Balanced head, medium eye, well placed ears, straight front, strong neck, correct shoulders, good ribs deep and low to ground, level topline, correct rear and tail set, moved with drive around the ring when he stopped sniffing the ground. DCC 2nd Miss C Chapman & Mrs E Tyler’s BerryBreeze Spirit Master. Very smart black dog 3 years old. Good head, dark eye, correct placed neat ears, good front, correct shoulders, level topline, good ribs, low to ground, correct rear angulation and tail set, In good coat and condition, Moved with drive around the ring. RDCC 3rd Mrs V Huber’s Am Ch Black Thistle Once in A Blue Moon (Imp) Veteran Bitch (1)(1 absent) Puppy Bitch (0) Junior Bitch (2) 1. Miss C Chapman’s Brueik Olivia’s Star Chaser with Berrybreeze. Just loved this young bitch she was so full of character. A 16mth old black in good coat and condition, balanced head, dark eye, neat ears, straight front, correct shoulders, good ribs well laid back and low to ground, level topline, correct rear and tail set. Moved with drive around the ring. RBCC 2nd Mr N Jackson’s Fennakin Gothic Girl, A 14 mth old black bitch, well balanced head, dark eye, neat ears, straight front, good shoulders and neck, short back good ribs, would prefer lower to ground. Level topline, correct rear angulation, moved well. Post Graduate Bitch (7)(4 absent) 1st Mr R MacKay & Mrs L Kirk-Gellatly’s Whitwitch No Mercy. Black bitch with lovely shape and body. Up to size. Balanced head, dark eye, good shoulders, strong neck, good ribs low slung and short backed, level topline, correct rear angulation. Moved well. 2nd Mrs A Broome’s Evingbriar Scotch Thistle. Another lovely bitch, 4 years old well balanced, different type to 1. Correct shape and low to ground. Balanced head, dark eye, neat ears, correct shoulder and rear angulation Moved well. 3rd Mrs A Beckton Innuendo Deus Vult Bohamia Ld-De by Glengracie Limit Bitch (5)(1 absent) 1st Miss C Chapman’s Berrybreeze Spirit Seeker. Lovely bitch in good condition presenting a super outline. Feminine head, dark eye, neat well placed ears, correct shoulders, strong neck, short back with level topline, good ribs low to ground and well laid back, correct rear angulation. Moved with drive around the ring. BOB & BCC 2nd Mrs L Kirk-Gellatly’s Whitwitch Fire Starter. Another lovely bitch in good condition, balanced head, neat ears, good shoulders, correct ribs well rounded and low to ground, short backed with level topline, correct rear angulation, moved well. 3rd Mrs C A Rutherford’s Carisco Equinox Open Bitch (6)(2 Absent) 1st Mrs L Kirk-Gellatly’s Millingford Stargazer. Very smart black bitch in good coat and condition, feminine head, dark eye, neat ears, straight front, correct neck and shoulders, short back with level topline, good ribs well laid back, correct rear angulation, correct tail, moved well around the ring. 2nd Mrs L Maidment and Miss B Maidment;s Ch. Berrybreeze Quintadacious for Spinakers. Another lovely bitch, presenting a super outline, short compact body, good head, neat ears, straight front, good shoulders and rear angulation. Moved well.
