I would like to thank the Midland Counties Canine Society Committee for the honour of judging Great Danes today and the exhibitors for the opportunity to go over their dogs. We were blessed with a super-sized ring which allowed some exhibits to shine but also highlighted some of the poor movement that is creeping into the breed. Overall, I was delighted with my winners and was pleased to see them go on to do well in the group.

1ST 7607 - Goldania's King of Drago (Ms N Pendleton-Watkins) 8 months old well marked brindle boy with dark mask. Head of pleasing proportions with good length of foreface and parallel planes. Good angulation front and rear allowing him reach and drive. A little loose in front but this will improve as he matures.

2ND 7604 - Novavida Only in Dreams (Ms L & Mrs T Page & Concannon) 8 months old well bodied black with lots to like about him. Masculine head, good length of neck into correctly laid shoulders. Well filled chest of good depth and spring of rib. A touch bum high on the day but this is likely down to a growth spurt and is to be expected at his age.

1ST 7603 - Roucandane Stolen Kisses (Mrs G & Mr L Munro) 10 months old Fawn who is so balanced for his age. Mascuine head of pleasing proportions held on strong, clean neck of good length. Well laid-back shoulders and good return of upper arm. Deep chest, belly well drawn up and loins strong. Moved around the ring with ease. I was pleased to that he went on to be awarded 1st Special Beginners Working Group. BP & BSB

1ST 7572 - Primus Roll The Dice (Mr J & Mrs L Donnelly) 13 month Fawn male of great strength. Masculine head with alert expression. Strong neck into well sloped back shoulders and correct topline. Deep well filled chest, well sprung ribs, and strong loins. Good flat bone throughout and cat-like feet. Moved with reach and drive, just needs time to muscle up behind.

 2ND 7595 - Shlarra Blast from The Past (Mrs W A Marriott) 17 months old fawn male. Pleasing head with broad muzzle, well chiselled face, and dark eye. Neck strong and of good length. Good depth of brisket, would prefer slightly shorter coupling. Well-muscled rear with correct turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved ok once settled.

1ST 7609 - Ch/lux/swiss Ch Tamzdane Empower Mint JW (Miss T & Mrs L Pocock) Beautifully marked Mantle who is all male and certainly has all the dash and dare you could ask for. Good substance and plenty of big flat bone throughout. Masculine head with good proportions, strong lower jaw, and square lips. Neck clean and strong, flowing into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Deep, filled chest, well sprung ribs, and strong loin. Well-muscled rear with correct turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved around the ring with ease. Would prefer a little more length of leg which cost him top awards on the day.

2ND 7557 - Primus Party Like Gatsby (Mrs T Bailey) Fawn male with dark eye and kind expression. Flat skull, triangular ears of medium size set high on the head. Balanced angulation front and rear. Just needs time to strengthen behind which cost him on the move today.

1ST 7569 - Zefather’s Ralph Lauren JW (Miss Cranfield) 22 months old Fawn boy with dark mask, who really took my eye when he entered the ring. Head masculine but not overdone with good length and to foreface and square lip. So balanced in profile with good angulation front and rear. Strong, flat bone, tight cat like feet and good muscle throughout. Correct topline which he held as he moved around the ring with reach and drive. I am sure he has an exciting future ahead of him. 2ND 7599 - Dinahtron Mothers Pride (Mrs M & Mrs S Mcguinness & Nelson-Mcguinness) 2 year old fawn male of great size and substance. Lovely head with good breadth and length to foreface. Dark eye helping his pleasing expression. Balanced angulation front and rear. He was enjoying his day out and a little excited on the move today.

1ST 7563 - Ch Selmalda Jealous Guy (ai) (Ms L & Mr A Chappell) Impressive 3 year old dark brindle dog, whose qualities really stand out as over him. Beautiful head and expression with good length to foreface. Strong neck, well arched, of good length and free from loose skin. Shoulders muscular and well laid back. Correct return of upper arm, chest deep and well filled. Good spring of rib and strong loins. Hindquarters, muscular with good turn of stifle, long second thigh and well let down hocks. The large ring allowed him to get into his stride and show off his movement, as he flowed around the ring with reach and drive. DCC

2ND 7576 - Ch Samdice Nobody Does It Betta (ai) (Mr J C, Mrs H & Miss C Dyson) Another quality brindle dog with lots to like about him. Beautiful head carried on long clean neck flowing into well sloped back shoulders, strong back and correct croup. Very balanced in profile with pleasing angulation both front and rear. His long gait allowed him to cover the ground with ease.

Dark almond shaped eye and kind expression. Long neck flowing into well placed shoulders, correct topline and croup. Balanced angulation front and rear. Still very much a baby but I will be watching with interest as she matures. Moved well once settled.

Muscular well sloped back shoulders, forelegs straight with good flat bone. Hindquarters well angulated and muscular. Strong loins and back which she held as she moved around the ring with ease.

 2ND 7558 - Taradanes Shining Star over Preveli (Mrs H J & Miss L Baker) 17 months old fawn. Another bitch with lots to like about her. Elegant but not lacking in size or substance. Feminine head with alert expression held high on long neck. Well-muscled shoulders and deep chest. Loins and back strong flowing into well set tail. Hindquarters with long well-muscled second thigh and good turn of stifle. Preferred slighty shorter coupling of 1st. At one with her handler throughout. Moved well.

Medium sized triangular ears set high on her head help her kind expression. Long neck, level topline and good croup. Well-muscled shoulders and good return of upper arm. Deep chest with brisket reaching elbows and loins well tucked up. Moved well in profile.

I look forward to watching both of their careers. Beautiful feminine head with alert expression, long arched neck. Deep well filled chest, ribs well sprung and loins strong. Forelegs strong with plenty of bone and elbows well under her body. Rear well-muscled with good turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved around the ring with reach and drive.

2ND 7585 - Gracia vom Dwergter Sand of Dainmajik (Imp Deu) (Lady J Ingram) 2 year old beautifully marked harlequin bitch shown in excellent condition and well-muscled throughout. Feminine head, with good length of foreface and square lips. Medium sized ears held high on skull. Neck clean and of good length flowing into well sloped shoulder and firm topline. Balanced angulation front and rear with good bone and cat-like feet. Moved well once settled.

1ST 7616 - Primus Encore avec Malpa (Mr S & Mrs V & Mr P & Mrs M Worsley) 20 months old fawn bitch who presents a very balanced profile. Very pretty head with pleasing expression. Correct head planes, dark almond shaped eye, and medium sized high set ears. Chest deep, well sprung ribs, firm topline and correct croup. Good angulation front and rear, well-muscled throughout. Needed a little time to calm with runner but moved well once settled.

2ND 7587 - Zwiebelchen in Flagranti with Dainmajik (Imp Deu) (Lady J Ingram) Brindle bitch with such a beautiful feminine head. Good length of foreface with square lips and broad muzzle. Skull flat and proportionally narrow with ears set high on head. Neck long and strong, shoulders well laid back. Ribs well sprung, belly well drawn up. Angulation balanced front and rear. A little unsettled possibly due to change of runner.

1ST 7564 - Ch Selmalda Oh Lori (ai) (Ms L & Mr A Chappell) 3 year old fawn bitch is litter sister to DCC winner and shares many of the same qualities. Stunning head and expression that just says look at me. Broad dark muzzle with lips hanging squarely. Medium triangular ears set high on flat skull. Long, well arched neck of good strength. Forequarters with muscular shoulders well sloped back and elbows set well under body. Chest deep and well filled. Loins strong and belly drawn up. Hindquarters well-muscled with good strength of long second thigh, correct turn of stifle and well let down hocks. This bitch presents such a balanced picture, and it was it a pleasure to see her flow around the ring with ease. BCC and BOB.

2ND 7617 - Roucandane Summer Breeze (Mrs N Young) 3 year old fawn bitch with such elegance. Another girl who really took my eye when she entered the ring. Beautiful feminine head with parallel planes and pleasing expression held high on long well arched neck. She presents such a balanced profile with good angulation front and rear. Strong loins, firm topline and correct tailset. Brisket reaches elbows and chest well filled. Good bone throughout with cat-like feet. Move around the ring with reach and drive. RBCC
