German Wirehaired Pointers

Thank you to the industrious committee of “The National” for the invitation to award my first set of CC’s to German Wirehaired Pointers. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and particularly appreciated judging the quality dogs brought forward by their owners. There was a lovely atmosphere around the ring and the temperaments of all dogs were excellent.

Class 3322 SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7680 SHEPHERD, Mrs Joanne Alexandra Kimmax Kallin Danny Boy Over

Strongly made young d with typical outline, who put on a very good performance. Has dark expressive eyes and strength of jaw. Strong in neck and topline he also stands on decent feet. Very sound dog on the move producing an accurate footfall away and back and covering the ground on the go around.

2nd: 7665 DAVIS, Mr Russell Rudishaw Good on Ya.

Not so settled as 1 today, and needs time to get his act together and firm up. He has a well-shaped head with balance and length, and was presented in first class muscle. Stands on good feet.

Class 3324 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7663 JONES, Mrs Sandra & JONES, Mr Andrew Germanus Makin A Point (AI)

Just a raw youngster as you would expect, but demonstrated his excellent temperament at all times. Has balance of skull proportions and a good big nose. Scores in topline however he is rather proud of his tail at times, which his lovely but exuberant attitude did nothing to hide! Went around the ring with drive from the quarters.

Class 3325 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7654 GEARY, Mr Robert & GEARY, Mrs Amanda Germanus Black in Bizniz

Well bodied and muscled young d with a delightful temperament, and made his handler work hard! Head is maturing along nicely, with strength of jaw and well shaped skull. He is strong in neck which fits neatly into a well laid shoulder. Stands on straight well boned limbs and moved out with good ground coverage.

2nd: 7656 HEWINS, Mrs Malin Xaver IV v. Bockenhagen NAF

Taller and rangier in outline, with some filling in to do, this young d has many breed attributes but needs time. A shade light in eye, but with good skull to muzzle proportions and useful construction at both ends. Wasn’t in the mood for playing the game today and made his handler work for it, but when he got it together he produced a sound action on the move.

1st: 7653 DONNELLY, Mr & Mrs David Kimmax They Kall Me Mr Tibbs - RCC

Smart and upstanding young male of decent type and good proportions all through. Whilst he is still young and has some filling in and maturing to do, there is a lot to like. Has a big nose, expressive eyes, and well shaped skull leading to strong neck of good length. His shoulders are well laid and his topline strong, with ribs well back. He has balance of angles in the hindquarters which produced a very sound action going away with accuracy of footfall. Presented in fit order and good undercoat. RDCC.

1st: 7678 PINKERTON, Miss S & ALIMOV, Mr Viacheslav Ch Matze vom Alte Wald (Imp)

I really liked the overall outline of this medium sized strongly built male, who is of sound construction, good bone, and balance throughout. Masculine head with big nose and strength of muzzle. He flows throughout, with a smooth junction of clean dry neck to shoulder, because of his well laid shoulder. Has a useful return of upper arm which he uses to advantage. Deep in brisket and with depth and length in rib, he is strong in loin and couplings. Sound in hindquarters with low hocks. A very pleasing mover indeed, maintaining his outline on the go around and covering the ground with ease and solidity of topline and power in his stride. DCC.

2nd: 7667 MCCULLOUGH, Mrs M & MCCULLOUGH, Mr P Kimmax Kort in Action

Quality male who is well boned and has good substance and body. Shade shorter in the leg than 1, but has good body length. Smart headpiece which is very well furnished. Straight in limb and with well arched feet. Well angled quarters were used to good advantage on the go around where he produced a strong driving action from low hocks.

1st: 7673 O'BRIEN, Miss Katherine Caldewriver Storm N' Teacup for Katillien

I was quite captivated by this exciting youngster who has bags of potential. Despite her very young age, everything is just as it should be and she is superb for type, make, and balance. Beautiful headpiece with well set and shaped eyes giving a keen yet mischievous expression! Shoulders are long and well laid, giving a smooth junction of neck to topline. Good length of upper arm, and straight front limbs. She is well ribbed back and strong in topline already. With complimentary angles of hind angulation it was no surprise to find her excellent on the move. Incredibly sound away and back for a youngster with accuracy of footfall and strength in pasterns. Eats up the ground on the go around covering plenty of distance in very few strides. Presented in first class order and handled to advantage to get the very best from her. Even though she was just over six months, she couldn’t be denied the RBCC today. A star of the future, I’m sure.

Class 3333 PB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7672 NEWTON, Mrs Alex GERMANUS MAKIN A RIPPLE WITH LAYASWAY

Pretty feminine head on this youngster who has bags of character and her handler did a wonderful job of allowing her to enjoy her time on the ring whilst keeping her head on the job! Very good to go over, she scores in shoulders and ribbing, and has balance throughout. Stands on very good feet and presented in first class order; excellent coat and muscetone.

Class 3334 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7681 STAMP, Miss B Tynsil Just One Smile

Pleasing type to this liver, but at a rather rangy stage of development and understandably needs time to fill in and body up. Has length and strength in skill with keen expression. Strong in topline with short well muscled loin, she moved around with verve and great attitude. Good width of thigh and well let down hocks. Should mature and finish well.

2nd: 7655 GEARY, Mr Robert & GEARY, Mrs Amanda Germanus Hotwyr Minjarra.

This was a lovely b to go over as she is very well made, and presented in great order with plenty of body, and is clearly afforded plenty of exercise as she is as fit as they come. She has a good head with strength. Strong in neck and topline, well ribbed back and has well angled and muscled quarters. Didn’t want to settle to the job on the move today so was a bit all over the place, but with time and schooling she will be grand.

Class 3335 YB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7664 KEARNS, Miss B Rudishaw Waltzing Matilda

This young b is very much at an inbetween stage, at the age when she has probably done her growing but now needs to body and muscle up to complete the picture. Has alertness to her expression, and a good attitude doing everything asked of her. Decent angulation fore and aft produced a moderate stride on the move.

Class 3336 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 7651 DONNELLY, Mr & Mrs David Kimmax Who Kares Wins JW

Mature b presented in excellent coat and muscletone. Well boned and stands on straight limbs with well maintained feet. Nicely ribbed back, strong in loin, and has excellent width and condition of first and second thigh. Performed well on the move to take this class today.

2nd: 7657 HILLIS, Miss Margaret Bareve Best By Magic.

Lovely headed b who scored in this department over 1, and was super to go over with everything in the right place, however she didn’t pull it together on the move today sadly despite a couple of changes. She is well balanced throughout and of great type and soundness. Lovely to go over and in great condition. Handler needs to work at getting her to move out much better to show off all of her many attributes.

Class 3337 LB (6 Entries) Abs: 0

This was a good class of quality ladies.

1st: 7674 OBRIEN, Mr Alan & OBRIEN, Mrs Debbie & O'BRIEN, Mi Luchanalilly Cute Coral of Caldewriver

A really grand sort combining type, soundness, femininity and balance. Super headpiece which is feminine but with strength and balance. She is beautifully constructed throughout and superb to go over. Her angulation is balanced and without exaggeration at either end, she is well ribbed back and solid in topline and strong in loin. Has the benefit of length and depth in body without excess in any department. In perfect condition and lovely coat which complete the picture. When asked to move she comes alive, and never puts a foot wrong and never gave up all day. Soundness and ease of stride combined with accuracy of footfall. Covers maximum ground with minimal lift on the go around, and comes and goes with strength and straightness of limb. Delighted to award her the BCC & BOB.

2nd: 7676 OCONNOR, Mr Karl Karlejay Gump Circle Of Life (a.i)

Another well made b of feminine outlook and medium size. She has a feminine headed with a lovely expression. She has balance and moderation of angles fore and aft. Well presented and handled. Another who was good on the move with a useful length of stride and strong drive from the hindquarters.

3rd: 7661 JOHNSTON, Mr Paul & JOHNSTON, Mrs Linda & JOHNSTON Glenquin Enyo

Class 3338 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 7659 JOHNSTON, Mr Paul & JOHNSTON, Mrs Linda & JOHNSTON Sh Ch Glenquin Athena

Lovely outline on this mature b who was presented in first class order and handled to advantage. Lovely head proportions and furnishings, with well set and shaped eyes and ears. Strong in neck with long shoulder, she is firm in topline when stood up. Deep and long in rib, she has strength in couplings. Well angled and muscled in hindquarters, and stands and moves with strength and soundness through the hock. Moved out very well with good length of stride, lovely carriage and well set on tail. A very worth title holder whom I pulled into the last three of the bitches to be considered for top honours today.

2nd: 7668 MCCULLOUGH, Mrs M & MCCULLOUGH, Mr P Sh Ch Kimmax Kindly Stand Black

Not so good in head as 1 as she is wider in skull and rounder in eye, but another good sort who has type in outline. Strong well boned legs and neat feet, she is presented in good order and is nice to go over. Moved away and back with a soundness of stride.
