Best Puppy : 1525 GRAHAM, Mrs Jane Nyliram The Suspect

Best Veteran : 1543 STONE, Mrs Kim & STONE, Mr Colin Stedigan All In Good Time For Merrem ShCM, VW, RL

What an uncomfortably hot day this was! The ‘in/out’ rings provided shade for the dogs and exhibitors but there was no breeze to cool anyone down. In view of this I kept movement to a minimum. My steward, Graham, was an absolute star ably assisted by Pauline.

It was good to hear my placings being met with applause from the ringside.

Class 675 VD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1543 STONE, Mrs Kim & STONE, Mr Colin Stedigan All In Good Time For Merrem ShCM, VW, RL1 Ex. A dog I have done well for in the past and he was the best mover of the three today. He is compact and strongly made, has a firm, taut body and excellent muscle tone. His head is balanced with a clearly defined stop and strong muzzle. Clearly fit for function. BVIB.

2nd: 1508 BROWN, Mr Alan & BROWN, Mrs H Bowdonia Ozzie VW. What a lovely dog this is. His head is so very handsome with good chiselling below his dark, expressive eyes. He is deep in brisket, has good ribbing and strong, wide hindquarters. He didn’t have the footfall of the winner today.

3rd: 1529 LEACH, Mrs Susan & LEACH, Mr Brian Islanza Sprinter

Class 676 MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1506 BARKLEY, Miss Sharon Jacranella Galahad Of Cherryheath (AI). His head is too long and lean and he is too domed in skull for my preference. At this stage he is too long in body and needs to come up in leg but having said that he is well off for bone, has a muscular neck that fits cleanly into his shoulders, strong, wide quarters and firm, round feet. He made me smile as he did some bunny hops round the ring and he is clearly strong, merry and very active. What a happy, happy boy.

Class 677 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 1

Class 678 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1540 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P & SHORT, Miss N Toftwood Ziggy Starman. He is not as forward as I would like at this age and he needs to spring some rib. His head is beautifully proportioned and he has a lovely expression, a long, muscular neck, well laid shoulders and an excellent return of upper arm. He used his quarters well to drive him round the ring and was more positive on the out and back than second. His feet were some of the best today.

2nd: 1511 CALDWELL, Mrs Ann Pauline & LEVY, Mrs Claire Cerysan Limited Edition. I liked him for his bone and substance and well sprung ribs. He presents a typical outline but he didn’t have the feet of the winner and was rather wide in front on the move. I preferred the richer red and white colour of the winner.

Class 679 YD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1544 STONE, Mrs Kim & STONE, Mr Colin Kidenoan Mark Time For Merrem JW. He needs to carry more weight and develop in rib to complete the picture as he looked rather long in body today. His head is very pleasing indeed and his well set, correctly shaped ears frame it perfectly. His temperament shines through as he drives round the ring showing a clean pair of heels and a constantly wagging tail.

Class 680 ND (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1540 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P & SHORT, Miss N Toftwood Ziggy Starman. Repeat.

2nd: 1511 CALDWELL, Mrs Ann Pauline & LEVY, Mrs Claire Cerysan Limited Edition. Repeat.

Class 681 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1542 STEVENSON, Mrs Fiona & STEVENSON, Mr Paul Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway JW. This dog has such excellent muscle tone, straight, well boned forelegs, wide and powerful quarters and a moderate bend of stifle. For my ideal he could be a tad longer in leg. The standard says nothing about pasterns but his are strong and obviously very good shock absorbers, his feet are round with thick pads and he is a quick and active mover. He has a flat, silky and abundant coat.

2nd: 1528 JONES, Mrs S D Trosley Tamoshanta. I loved this boy’s head. It is so clean cut and well moulded and has a slightly domed skull and clear stop. It is well chiselled with a strong, straight muzzle and just a hint of a rise before it ends in a big, well developed nose. He has a strong underjaw and a fairly square finish to his muzzle. He didn’t have the angulation nor the feet of the winner. Held his shape on the move.

Class 682 LD (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1513 CHANDLER, Mrs Angela Ruth Chanangel Jo Sugden JW. His head is masculine and finely chiselled and fits cleanly into his long, well muscled neck. His ears are fine and moderately low set and he has a lovely glint in his dark eyes. He has well laid shoulders, a deep brisket, well sprung ribs, level top line, muscular, slightly arched loin and a nice big bum. He stands on strongly boned legs and firm, cat like feet. He holds his shape well on the move but in the challenge he didn’t have the hind movement of the open dog and had to settle for the RCC. A quality dog who was turned out to perfection.

2nd: 1541 SMITH, Ms Tina Isfryn Peeping Tom JW. This one is a real favourite of mine who exudes WSS type and temperament. He is compact and totally balanced throughout and is clearly built for endurance and hard work. For me, spaniels are all about big ribs and big bums; he does not disappoint in this aspect.

3rd: 1530 LEACH, Mrs Susan & LEACH, Mr Brian Islanza Hey Dude

Res: 1521 GOUGH, Miss M C Julita Rukester

Class 683 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1517 DOUGLAS, Mrs Dorothy Kay & DOUGLAS, Mr Ian Chanangel Yorkshire Gold To Santallina. I love this dog for his size and curvy and compact outline. He is full of quality, has style, substance and is the most beautiful rich red and white colour. He commands attention on the stack as he stands most comfortably on well boned legs and tight cat like feet; there is no mistaking his type. His head is well moulded with classically chiselled cheeks, a definite stop, slightly rounded skull with vine leaf shaped ears set moderately low. He has a strong foreface with a fairly square finish and a large nose with open nostrils. The expression in his dark eyes is kind and gentle and leaves you in no doubt as to his kindly disposition. His strong neck flows into well laid shoulders and his depth and spring of rib give him plenty of heart and lung room. His well muscled loins add to his strength of body and his hindquarters are wide and powerful with a well developed flare over his hips. I forgave him his rather high tail carriage because he is a quick and active mover and displays plenty of push and drive. His excellent front assembly is reflected in his superb forward reach. Last time I judged him I said ‘He is a powerful and strong mover but tends to get away from his handler. If he gets this under control he will go far ‘. Today his movement was smooth and precise so he went to the top. CC and BOB.

2nd: 1509 BUCKWELL, Mrs W A Killena Shadow Dancing ( A.I.) He has a firm and level back, good front and pro-sternum and is moderately angled. He is of very good type but doesn’t help himself on the move.

Class 685 VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1534 PRIMMER, Miss Amanda Amanshe Golden Revelation. 11 ½ years old and so very merry. She was clearly enjoying herself and all the dinners she had eaten! She has a pretty and feminine head, carries a firm topline and is well off for bone.

Class 686 MPB NO ENTRIES

Class 687 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1525 GRAHAM, Mrs Jane Nyliram The Suspect. These litter sisters have very pretty heads with typical Welshie expressions. I felt the winner had more substance than second and had more confidence. Both carry typical toplines, have good angulation and strong bone and move well. BPIB.

2nd: 1523 GRAHAM, Mr Tom & GRAHAM, Mrs Jane Nyliram The Witness

Class 688 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1539 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P Toftwood Jean Genie. She is of very good type with a rich red and white coat of silky texture. She presents a strong and curvy outline, has a great middle piece, wide quarters with very good second thigh development. Her head is well balanced with a strong, straight muzzle and a beautiful expression. Moves well with plenty of push and drive.

2nd: 1510 BUCKWELL, Mrs W A Killena One Moment in Time. She did her best to throw away her chances but got her act together in the end. She has a good stop and well set ears of good shape. Needs to develop in rib. Moved OK.

3rd: 1531 MADELEY, Mrs Carol M. Don's D. Jubilee at Maytag

Class 689 YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1545 TEW, Mr & Mrs Michael & Pamela Pamicks Dream With Me. Her head is just lovely with a kind and soft expression and wonderful chiselling beneath them. She has a definite stop and fairly square finish to her muzzle. She is true in front, has a great lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, decent ribbing, wide quarters and moderately angled stifles. Moves well with good head carriage.

2nd: 1531 MADELEY, Mrs Carol M. Don's D. Jubilee at Maytag. Her head is narrow all through and she is rather long in couplings but she is very well muscled and moderately angulated. Could use more oomph on the move (but it was very hot by now).

Class 690 NB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1525 GRAHAM, Mrs Jane Nyliram The Suspect. Repeat.

2nd: 1539 SHORT, Mrs G & Mr P Toftwood Jean Genie. Repeat.

Class 691 PGB (6 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 1515 COOPER, Mrs Gillian Gilstonia Snow Moon. She presents a lovely outline and shows off her excellent balance; she is compact and symmetrical. Her ribs are well developed and she has a strong, slightly arched loin, wide quarters and a well set on tail which she carries well on the move. She has a pretty head with strong muzzle, nice eye and clear stop. Moves well.

2nd: 1520 FERGUSON, Mrs B M Julita Raindance at Teaselwood. She is so very pretty with a clearly defined stop, dark eyes and well developed nostrils. She is slightly longer cast than the winner and doesn’t have her front movement.

3rd: 1535 PRIMMER, Miss Amanda Amanshe Mermaid's Tears

Class 692 LB (9 Entries) Abs: 2. The best class of the day full of quality exhibits.

1st: 1546 THOMAS, Ms M Bowdonia Truly Scrumptious. This two year old had the best front movement of the day. She is so straight and true in front and has plenty of push and drive behind. She is strong and compact in body and every bit just flows into the next. There are no lumps or bumps and she carries her beautiful shape on the move. She is built to work all day, has depth and forechest, well sprung ribs and a big, well muscled bum. Her length of body is very well proportioned to her leg length and there is plenty of dog in front. I loved her round, tight feet. Her head is very well balanced and her eyes have the loveliest expression. She looked right into my soul. She carries a coat of rich red and white colour that is straight and dense and silky to the touch. She doesn’t carry a wealth of feathering so there is nothing to hide. I was delighted to award her the CC, her second.

2nd: 1519 DOUGLAS, Mrs Dorothy Kay & DOUGLAS, Mr Ian & CHAND Eiriandylis Georgy Girl by Santallina. Another lovely headed bitch with strength and substance. Well off for bone, fabulous feet, curvy outline with a strong slightly arched loin. Moved well.

3rd: 1512 CHANDLER, Mrs Angela Ruth Chanangel Yorkshire Rose

Res: 1524 GRAHAM, Mrs Jane Nyliram The Moth Catcher JW

VHC: 1547 WALLER, Miss R Isfryn Lady Godiva At Fireglow JW

Class 693 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 1522 GRAHAM, Mr Tom Sh Ch Nyliram Telling Tales JW ShCEx OSW. She is in fabulous condition, has depth of brisket and big ribs giving her plenty of heart and lung room and is a lovely size. She is very lively on the move and uses her strong quarters and excellent second thighs to propel her smoothly round the ring. She is the finished article but in the run off she wasn’t as good in front movement as the limit bitch. RCC.
