Thank you to the Brittany club for their kind invitation to judge at this well-run show and to the exhibitors for a lovely entry both in terms of quantity and quality. Also, many thanks to my excellent stewards – Peter Barnaby and Sian Ryan

SPECIAL AWARD YEARLING (5,3 absent)

1st Pooles Bonapartist Temptress at Laurremar , 17-month-old orange and white bitch, very feminine but with the required square outline. Skull slightly rounded and the correct 3 to 2 head proportions .Clean strong neck leading into well laid shoulders . Needs to still develop, in body but correct for age and I am sure this will come with maturity . Her hindquarters were well muscled with sufficient angulation. Moved well. Whilst her coat was of a good colour and texture, she just needs a little more furnishings to complete the picture.

2nd Nicholls Bonapartist Trooper of Stoneview , 17-month-old Black tri with correct markings , litter brother to 1, very masculine well bodied and square. Head deeper in stop than I would like. Well laid shoulders and good front , good width of thigh and well muscled to the rear . Moved OK when settled. Preferred the head of the winner.

Hawkwise Bairn Memorial Special Award Beginners Class ( 11, 2 absent)

 Lovely class headed up by 2 top quality bitches.

1st Frosts Rhapsodie de la Riviere at Patouche Nicely marked black/ tri, just kept coming back to this bitch in the line up due to her lovely square and cobby outline. Head had the desired slightly round skull and ear placement , would have liked a little more width across the top of the muzzle to complete the picture. Tight lips with a correct scissor bite. Clean neck into well laid front , shoulder oblique and muscular , well-rounded ribcage. Short strong loin that gave the desired square outline. Moderate angulation to the rear and moved on a short brisk stride once settled.

2nd Trois and Hanriets Sprite De La Riviere Ouareau 2 and a half years old black and white, really pushed 1 hard for top spot and many of the same remarks apply. Head of the correct balance with skull correctly rounded but not using her ears to her advantage , so hard to see the desired expression . Good shoulder placement with muscular straight bone to forelegs. Hindquarters had moderate bend of stifle, but just felt 1 just had the edge here. Moved well particularly in profile.

3rd Southerns Rochus Ottilie

Malbec Special Awards Open Dog or Bitch (13, 3 absent)

A super class with many quality dogs and an honour to judge

1st Coveneys Tillybirloch Roman 3 year old black tri. Felt that he was masculine, a fit for function well muscled boy , he embodied the workmanlike appearance of substance without heaviness required of the standard . Good width to his slightly rounded skull . Good strong neck into well laid shoulders, body square in outline with short loin. For me one of the best muscled and conditioned dogs of the day and this was particularly noticeable in his width of thigh. Lovely coat, both texture and furnishing. Moved well on the correct stride once settled, pleased to give him this excellent class

2nd Cooks Sh CH Highclare Only One Avec Talliside JW 5-year-old Orange and white male. Another workmanlike boy in good coat and condition and fit for function. Square in outline, strong clean neck into correctly laid shoulders . Chest deep with well rounded ribcage , short back with strong loin. Moderate bend of stifle to the rear and again, as 1,well-muscled which showed in his movement . Good coat and presentation . Just preferred head of 1
