The Golden Retriever Club of Northumbria is always a favourite show to enter and judging certainly did not disappoint, a welcoming committee and friendly atmosphere with stewards running the rings like clockwork. A fabulous entry of girls today and a pleasing amount of promising youngsters coming through the younger classes.
Veteran Bitch (9 Entries, 1 Absent)
This was a super quality class and decisions were very close. Everyone of these veteran girls are a credit to their owners, showing longevity in their show careers.
1. Dunbar’s SH CH LINIRGOR VIOLETS ARE BLUE JW TAF
At 10 years young this golden girl floated around the ring with ease. Soft head and expression, excellent shoulder angulation and forechest, level topline being held on the move, strong tight feet, good bend of stifle and straight hocks. Presented immaculately. Was in contention for top honours today. With agreement of co judge BVIS
2. Ives’ TREWATER BUSY LIZZIE AT BALSAMINA. Lovely cream girl with sweetest of heads and another excellent mover. Good reach of neck, good level topline and correct tailset. Straight front and well bent stifles.

Minor Puppy Bitch (12 Entries, 0 Absent)
1. Laidlaw-Good’s TERRA DI SIENA LAY LADY LAY AT FHAIRMHOR
Very promising well balanced 7 month old pale bitch with good length of leg. Dark pigment with a pretty head. Straight front legs with good bone and tight feet. Good angulation and layback of shoulders and strong level topline held on the move. Benefited from a sympathetic handler who showed her to her best. BPB
2. Williams’ LAMHRYN STAR OF THE SEA. Smaller in frame than 1 at the moment this 6 month old was very close up to 1 and won the Puppy class. Sweet expression with excellent pigment. Level topline and tailset, good bone, good bend of stifle and straight hocks. Anther very promising baby to watch with interest.

2. Taggart’s ALTINDAN USER FRIENDLY. Well put together balanced bitch, Well shaped head with gentle expression. Strong straight front with good feet. Good length of neck and level topline.

1. Towers’ ALIBREN MAJESTIC DAWN Balanced mid gold bitch in excellent coat and condition. Darkest of pigments, straight front and good feet, level topline and well sprung ribs. Excelled on the move where her good proportions and balance were evident.
2. Clarkson’s DRUMKILTY YOURS TRULY JW Large in frame than 1, pale girl with a lovely head with melting expression. Excellent bone and a strong topline. Coming together nicely for her age.
3. Neilson Mrs J TWEEDSPEY TOPPSECRET AVEC PONFEIGH (IMP FRA)

1. Haxton’s DANTASSIE DIZZIE HEIGHTS A lovely bitch with good construction through out. Excellent angulation of shoulders, good reach of neck level topline and tailset, well bent stifle with good width of second thigh and neat hocks. Topline held on the move when she drove around the ring. One to watch.
2. List’s HAYDENGOLD GOSSIP GIRL Another very well put together girl, superb neck flowing into well placed shoulders with good layback. Level topline and tailset. Not in as good a bloom as 1 today.

2. Lochhead’s KAYLATON HEIDI WEISS This bitch relaxed more and more as she moved through the classes which benefited her especially on the move. Excellent length of neck and well-placed shoulders, level topline and well bent stifles and straight hocks.

Undergraduate Bitch (5 Entries, 1 Absent)
1. Mandley’s MALTQUDOS ENCHANTED JW Sweet bitch at one with her handler. Balanced with good length of leg. Prettiest of heads, well placed shoulders and good bend of stifle. Moved very well around the ring, still dropping down into her stifle which will come with time.
2. Wood’s STRATHLON SHIRLI VALENTINE Longer in frame than 1 but still balanced. , Straight front, excellent length of neck, well bent stifles, level topline and straight hocks. Missing the coat of 1 today.

1. Hill & Smith’s MEGARVEY DÉJÀ VU JW Loved the balance and shape of this mid gold girl. Excellent length of strong neck into well angulated shoulders. Level topline, good spring of rib with well bent stifles. Soft expression with good pigment.
2. Maddison’s JAYMARDY SWEET CAROLINE JW. A very well-made girl throughout. Excellent shoulder construction, level topline and well bent stifles. This girl would have benefited from less weight which would also enhance her excellent movement.
3. McNeish’s DRUMKILTY TOODLE PIP JW

1. Smith’s GOLDMARKER LUMINESS (AI)
This golden girl excelled on the move with excellent drive and flow around the ring. Good angulation of shoulder and length of neck. Short coupled with good spring of rib, Dark pigment, good bone and feet. Slightly on her toes in the challenge.
2. Ives’ BALSAMINA BELLINI JW. Very similar in shape to 1, in a different shade of the standard. Excellent true front, good bend of stifle, well balanced.
3. Clarkson’s DRUMKILTY VENETIAN GLASS
Mid Limit Bitch (11 Entries, 3 Absent)
1st Duke’s QUAKERHALL ROYAL BOUNTY AT CADELLARD A striking bitch in good proportions. Excellent reach of neck and laid-back shoulders, good bend of stifle, short couplings, level topline and the lovely movement of the tail straight about behind with the slight wave. Just missing some extra furnishings today to compete for top honours.
2nd Falconer’s SONEVE SIMPLY SPECIAL FOR SIATHAM JW Very happy pale girl with her exuberance for life on permanent show. Smaller proportions to 1 but well balanced throughout with excellent confirmation with level topline and tailset held on the move. Her high spirits could throw her movement at times but when “behaving” could see its correctness.

1. Falconer’s CONTEMPORARY BEGUILE AGAIN VIA SIATHAM JW heading a really lovely class of bitches today, a real show girl with her dark gleaming coat and wagging tail. Lovely head with soft expression and dark pigment. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders leading into a strong topline, good bend of stifle and width of second thigh. On the move she just proves her construction powering around the ring. Very pleased to award her the RCC
2. Loverock’s LOVISSA RUSSIAN ROULETTE Lovely well boned girl presented beautifully. Soft head with sweet expression. Straight front and good feet, dead level topline and well bent stifles and straight short hocks. Another lovely mover in this class

1. Robbins & Rowark’s QUAKERHALL LADY BOUNTIFUL BY BREKSWOOD JW An outstanding bitch, beautifully presented in golden coat. Sweet head, excellent length of neck, well placed shoulders, strong level topline, good bend of stifle and spring of rib. Balanced whilst standing and on the move, matured, and well-muscled this girl looked superb today and at one with her handler. Delighted to award her the CC and her with agreement of my co judge RBIS
2. Lewis ‘s SH CH LOVEHAYNE BIJOU AMONG FAIRWINDS JW Another lovely girl, slightly longer than 1, excellent reach of neck and angulation of shoulders, well sprung ribs, excellent mover covering the ground with ease.
