Toy Group Puppy

My thanks to the committee of South Wales Kennel Association for their kind invitation to judge my first toy puppy group.My thanks to the judges for sending through some lovely specimens of the breeds, it was indeed a very strong puppy group and a pleasure to judge, I had a lovely day and had some super Toy puppies to go over. From a very strong group of which I admired so many of the puppies that did not even make the first cut, I short-listed eight exhibits for further consideration and any of my final 8 could win top honours: Bichon, Smooth Coat Chihuahua, Chinese Crested, King Charles Spaniel, Maltese Miniature Pinscher, Pekingese and Pug

Toy Puppy Group 1 Krieger’s Kiss’n’tell, Breed: Miniature Pinscher (Miss R Stracey) What a beautiful example of the breed .Head in proportion to body with good eye, excellent pigmentation strong jaw with correct scissor bite lovely expression and correct earset and carriage. Good neck into balanced square body with straight sloping topline. Liked the rib, bone and neat feet and her straight fine boned forequarters, well-muscled hindquarters with good sweep of stifle and correct tail set and carriage A smart and balanced female with lots of breed type. Good condition and coat and moved with good coordinated action.

Toy Puppy Group 2 Judamie Thelma Jean, Breed: Pug (Ms J & Mr D Dawson-Payne & Mousley) A beautiful female in peak form and condition, lovely square & cobby, real showgirl, did not stop showing all the time she was in the ring, relatively large, well-proportioned round head, correct black mask with dark round eyes, button ears, lovely arched crest into well sloped shoulders, very strong straight forequarters with good spring of rib, very strong hindquarters with good turn of stifle, high set tail tightly curled over hip, coat short & glossy, level topline & moved correctly.

Toy Puppy Group 3 Pamplona Rumour Has It, Breed: Bichon Frise (Mr R & Mr M Smith & Coad) A beautiful male Lovely temperament and presented in sparkling condition Quality male ideal size with good confirmation, sweet expression, lovely dark eyes surrounded with dark haloes. Clean dentition, neck in proportion to body, correct forequarters, well sprung ribs with broad loin and well bent stifles, well rounded and broad thighs, good pigmentation, coat of correct texture and type, nice balanced movement

Top Puppy Group 4 Headra Edith, Breed: King Charles Spaniel (Mrs M E Kendall) Another excellent example of the breed Large skull nose black with nostrils wide open with good pigmentation, stop well defined, eyes very large and of correct colour low set ears with good feathering, front legs short and straight, compact feet, nice wide chest and level back, coat silky and straight, tail set and carriage good free active movement with good rear driving action around the ring.
