Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Gordon Setter

Puppy Dog (2, 1)

1ST Hernwood Everlasting Love (Miss J L Williams): Well balanced all through. Head is of correct proportions with well defined stop and lean cheeks. Would like a little more length of neck. Long shoulder blade with equal length of upper arm. Good depth for age and well ribbed back. Level topline with correctly held tail. Well made hindquarters - long hip to hock and short rear pasterns. In gleaming coat and condition. Very well presented and handled. BPD

Junior Dog (6)

1ST Amscot Air Apparent (Mrs J & Mrs L & Mrs S Collins-Pitman & Cox & Loakes). Very smart youngster whom I liked very much. Excellent overall balance. Head of correct length and depth with good stop and strong muzzle. Long neck leading into well laid shoulder and corresponding length and return of upper arm. Deep chest with elbows close to the body. Well ribbed back. Croup could be a little flatter. Strong, well muscled hindquarters with well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Expertly shown to get the best out of him - moved accurately fore and aft with good open sidegait. Considered for RCC.

2ND Fieldberry Secret Weapon at Rufusmoor (Ms C Fudge). Good overall balance. Clean head of good proportions. Long neck leading to well laid shoulder. Elbows not as close to brisket as winner. Well ribbed back. Level topline and flat croup. Strong hindquarters with low set hocks. Moved with drive - not as tidy coming in as winner.

3RD Kilnrae Black Hawk (Mrs K M Marsh)

Graduate Dog (3, 1)

1ST Fieldberry Secret Weapon at Rufusmoor (Ms C Fudge). 1st Junior.

2ND Locksheath Beach Comber (Mrs S Gregg). Well built with good overall balance. Head in proportion but a little broad in skull. Well laid shoulder. I would like a little more length of upper arm. Good depth of chest and well ribbed back. Scores in his hindquarters which are long from hip to hock and short parallel rear pasterns. Coat of good texture but a little wayward. Moved with good rear drive.

Post Graduate Dog (4)

1ST Burroughtof Loch Leven at Glenarden (Mrs E M Ede). Good overall balance. Masculine head of good depth and well defined stop. Long neck leading to very good lay of shoulder and length and return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Would like a little more strength in hindquarters, but moved well enough.

2ND Hernwood The Botanist JW (Ms A Ashley-Turner). Well balanced all through. Well proportioned head and strong muzzle. Reasonable length of neck. Good length of shoulder blade. Well ribbed back. Better in croup and hindquarters than the winner but not the forward reach on the move. In excellent coat and condition.

3RD Marshmoor Fighter Pilot (Mrs Gp & Mr Gjd Lambert)

Limit Dog (4)

1ST Glenmaurangi Storm Trooper JW (Mrs A, Ms T & Mr N Phillips, Watkins & Sykes). I first judged this dog two years ago and was extremely impressed with him then and my opinion has not changed. He has such arrogance and attitude that it is very difficult to look past him. Quite simply - he commands attention. He is totally balanced all through. Head of good depth and correct breadth with a definite stop, clean cheeks and well defined lips. His neck is of good length, slightly arched and free from throatiness. Scores in his forehand construction with a well laid shoulder and elbows close to the body. Deep in chest with ribcage well sprung. His hindquarters are well muscled, long from hip to hock and hocks well let down and parallel when viewed from the rear. His coat is gloriously coal black with the correct tan markings and black penciling on his toes. And then he moves - accurate fore and aft then I was treated to a glorious length of stride when viewed in profile - he just ate up the ground. He could cover a grouse moor with the greatest of ease - it was truly a joy to behold. I had no hesitation in awarding him the DCC - his third. When it came to the challenge for Best of Breed his success had clearly gone to his head and his mind was on the lovely bitch CC winner so he had to ultimately pay the price for his waywardness - but I truly loved him and feel that his best is probably yet to come.

2ND Benbuie Thornbird of Finnsfolk (Miss J R Ellington). Good overall balance. Head of good depth with defined stop and clean cheeks. Super length of neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. I would like croup a little flatter. Long hip to hock. Hocks well let down. Not in his best coat. Moved with good drive.

3RD When I Was Your Man Black Lofty ShCEx (Imp Pol) (Mrs L Henderson)

Open Dog (4, 1)

1ST Sh Ch Hernwood Neptune Sea (Mr P & Mrs C A, Miss C Sandiford & Lewis). Super dog who has excellent overall balance. Excellent head of good depth, well defined stop and clean cheeks. Long, clean neck leading through to well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Deep chest. Good spring of rib - not quite the depth of back rib as the CC winner. Flat in group. Long hip to hock with good width of second thigh. Hocks well let down and parallel when viewed from the rear. Excellent bone and feet. Coal black coat with requisite tan markings. Covered the ground well on the move - maybe not quite the forward reach of the CC winner but a very worthy runner up. RCC.

2ND Sh Ch Hernwood Achilles at Ettrick JW (Mr A J & Mrs D A Harker). Another lovely dog built along the lines that I was looking for. Very well balanced all through. Head of good depth and proportionate length. Long clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and length of upper arm. Chest of good depth. Well ribbed back. Long hip to hock although I felt the the hocks on the winner were better let down. Excellent bone and feet. Coat not quite the winner of 1. Very sound on the move.

3RD Locksheath Black Ice (Mr K & Mr J Whiting & Cops)

Veteran Dog (4, 2)

1ST Sh Ch Melview Moving Time JW (Mrs L Hall). Excellent overall balance - built on true galloping lines. Excellent head with good depth and clean in cheeks. Long, slightly arched neck flowing seamlessly into well laid shoulder and corresponding length and return of upper arm. Deep in chest with elbows close to the body. Correct spring of rib and good depth of back rib. Strong hindquarters - long from hip to hock and good width of second thigh. Little long in rear pasterns. In excellent coat and condition. Moved soundly with good drive. BV

2ND Liric for Your Eyes Only by Yohenoak JW (Mr & Mrs S Robson). Well balanced all though. Lovely head shape with good depth and skull slightly greater in length than the muzzle. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Good depth of chest with well sprung ribcage. Well made hindquarters - long hip to hock with short rear pasterns. Not quite the coat as the winner. Moved on a good even stride.

Puppy Bitch (3, 2)1ST Hernwood Love Potion (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford). I could definitely take this puppy home! So well balanced all through. Glorious head already showing the requisite depth and skull and muzzle correctly proportioned. Long lean neck leading to exemplary lay of shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Enough depth of chest for age. Well ribbed with deep back rib. Flat croup. Hindquarters are long hip to hock and rear pasterns parallel when viewed from behind. Coat is shiny black coal with correct tan markings. Moved out well - accurate fore and aft and with good open side gait when viewed in profile. BP

Junior Bitch (2)

1ST Amscot Air Born via Kewstoke (Ms W D Smith). Well balanced all through. Head of good depth with definite stop and clean cheeks. Long neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding length and return of upper arm. Good depth of chest. Would like a life more back rib. Long hip to hock with rear pasterns parallel when viewed from behind. In excellent coat and condition. Moved out with good rear drive.

2ND Locksheath April in Paris (Mr K Whiting). Well balanced all through, although very much at the legs and wings stage of her development. Pleaseding head of good depth. Could be a little leaner in cheek. Long neck. Well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Needs to deepen in chest but this will come. Well ribbed back. Flat in croup and long hip to hock. In excellent coat and condition. Moved on good stride with correct forward reach.

Graduate Bitch (4)

1ST Lignum Oro JW (Mr G I & Mrs A J Palliser). Well balanced all through. Head of good depth and correct skull muzzle proportions. Clean neck - free from throatiness. I would like a little more forehand angulation and elbows closed to the body. Good spring of ribcage. Flat in croup. Long hip to hock with hocks well let down. In excellent coat and condition. Moved soundly.

2ND Locksheath Fallen Acorn (Mr K Whiting). Well balanced all through. Head of good depth and well defined stop. Clean neck depending to well laid shoulder. Level topline held well throughout. Well ribbed back. Preferred hindquarters of the winner. In excellent coat and condition. Moved well with good forward reach.

3RD Cafotaliena Hello My Love (Miss N C & Miss C Hardy)

Post Graduate Bitch (7, 3)

1ST Laurelhach Renaissance JW (Mrs F Boxall). Very good overall make and shape. Feminine head of good depth and well defined stop. Long clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Chest has enough depth for her age. Well ribbed back. Flat in croup. Well made hindquarters - - long from hip to hock and short rear pasterns. Well presented and handled in good coat and condition. Moved out well with good rear drive.

2ND Waseley Springtyme (Mrs K G Sweryda). Well made all through. Head of correct breadth and depth will well defined stop and clean cheeks. Good length of neck. Not quite the layback of shoulder as the winner nor holding her topline as well. Good spring of rib. Would like a little more flat in group. Long hip to rock with good width of second thigh and short rear pasterns. Good coat and correct markings. Moved soundly.

3RD Glynderys Moonstone (Dr M Thomas)

Limit Bitch (9, 4)

1ST Laurelhach Ovation (Mrs F Boxall). Good overall balance. Heavier in head than would be my preference but her overall construction and movement swayed me in her favour in this class. Long clean neck leading to excellent lay of shoulder and length of upper arm. Deep chest with elbows close to the body. Well ribbed back. Level topline and flat in croup. Strongly made hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet. Well coated all through. Moved with drive.

2ND Flaxheath All That Jazz (Ms V L Lines). Excellent overall balance. Much preferred her head to that of the winner but she didn’t have quite the length in upper arm. Deep in chest and well ribbed back. Topline held throughout. Flat in croup. Long hip to hock with short rear pasterns. In excellent coat and condition. Moved on a good stride.

3RD Langstrumpf Delicatessa (Mr F C & Mrs S M Evans)

Open Bitch (4, 2)

My most difficult class as I truly love both bitches

1ST Hernwood Aphrodite JW (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford). Excellent overall balance. Head is deep and clean cut with well defined cheeks although could be a little shorter in muzzle. Long clean neck leading to copybook forehand construction. Chest of correct width and depth with elbows close to the body. Good spring and length of ribcage. Level topline leading through to flat croup and correct tail set. Hindquarters are long hip to hock and rear pasterns short and parallel. Excellent bone and feet. Coat in tip top condition with requisite tan markings. On the move she is accurate both fore and aft and demonstrates an excellent open side gait when viewed in profile. CC (I understand her 3rd) and Best of Breed.

2ND Ch/int/ger Vdh Ch Amscot Love Is in The Air JW Ww 18/21 (Mrs J Collins-Pitman). Another top quality bitch with so many virtues. Excellent overall balance. Just preferred her head proportions to that of the winner. Long clean neck, free from throatiness. Well laid shoulder and corresponding length and return of upper arm. Not quite the length of foreleg as the winner. Deep in chest and well ribbed back with good depth of back rib. Excellent hindquarters - long from hip to hock and short rear pasterns. In excellent coat and condition and handled to advantage. Moving she was a tad close going away but showed good length of stride when viewed in profile. RCC.

Veteran Bitch (1)

1ST Flores-Lilla Ojcowskiej Doliny Kewstoke (Imp Pol) (Ms W D Smith). Good overall balance. Well proportioned head of good depth and well defined stop. Clean neck. Little upright in shoulder and I would like more depth of chest. Well ribbed back. Correct flatness of croup and long hip to hock. In good coat and condition. Moved well on a good stride.
